RFK - Make America Healthy? again?

I believe this guy is going to need his own thread.

A department spokesperson confirmed Louisiana Surgeon General Ralph Abraham had ordered his staff to stop engaging in media campaigns and community health fairs to encourage vaccinations, even as the state has experienced a surge in influenza.

well, duh

“Public health is really united on this issue: For more than a century, vaccines of all kinds have been a cornerstone of improving public health in America,” Avegno told the city council on Thursday. “There’s not scientific debate on this, this is as close as you can get to established fact that vaccinations, particularly mass vaccinations, and community immunity, saves millions and millions of lives.”

What would be the point of propagandising the fact that measles was a nothingburger? Who does the propaganda benefit exactly?

The anti-vaxer getting raked over the coals for the multiple measles outbreaks currently happening on our soil

The party that is currently pushing anti-vaxer anti-intellecualism

The party with acolytes who believe the general idea that the government has been lying to you about vaccines to inject mind controlling micro chips into you

I dunno, who could possibly benefit from this type of nonsense? We may never know

by Brian James k

Funny thing is measles was considered a mild illness up until the vaccine was introduced in the 1960s. Then it suddenly became this scary deadly disease. Go figure.

Science is hard.

This is ignoring that the whole point is really just the chaos.

You read ignorance and internalize it. You repeat it. Someone counters your claim. You defend your claim. Someone else counters. Someone else defends.

Your side is objectively wrong. You think you are right. People who know you are wrong try to argue reasonable until its clear you don't give a flip about reality. Suddenly they are frustrated and insulting you. Now you are insulting back. Others are insulting. Two groups hate each other.

Welcome to the US

Vaccines side effect can be autism
Measles side effect can be death

Just think how great we could be if we brought back smallpox.

Correct except for the first part.

(I understand your point, but it's too important to not make that clear)

Yeah, I realize the untruth I wrote. It just seems to speak the message I wanted to convey with a short, meme-ish T-shirt statement. Ya kno.... easy to understand.

good catch, thx

This supposed propaganda being discussed was back in the 1950s and 60s before the vaccine was introduced.

If it was propaganda who benefitted from it at the time? What would be the point? That was my question.

I could say the same about your side tbf.

Resorting to insults is usually a sign that you have lost the argument.

I did say 'welcome to America' and not 'Welcome to Republicans'

Well, everyone used to get it, kind of like Chicken Pox.

Its never been a big risk to adults in the modern world

It causes complications in children that then affect them for life and is incredibly contagious so one kid gets it then every kid gets it

There is no longer a presumptive immunity because the vaccine largely wiped out infection

Consider the primary audience--white/christian blahblahblah and then think to yourself would we want to enrage these people or possibly throw em a bone here with a little 😉 when it's just so damn easy? Or you could go hard the other way and risk one of those boycotts+getting canceled oldschool style 😀

So, why mention measles at all then? Again what's the point? Maybe they were just reflecting the generally accepted view in society at that time, that measles was a mild illness. I just don't buy the big propaganda conspiracy theory that you ae promoting.

Is rfk doing a paid add for Steak ‘n Shake?

I do love Steak ‘n Shake though

Oh look. Confirmation that the idiots spreading FUD about vaccines killed a kid:

"The vaccination has stuff we don't trust," said the father of the 6-year-old girl who died from measles at the end of last month. Tom Bartlett visited with a family confronting an unthinkable tragedy.

Nice to see RFK idiot just flat lying, too.

“If you are healthy, it’s almost impossible for you to be killed by an infectious disease in modern times,” Kennedy falsely told Fox News’s Marc Siegel in an interview last week. He’d had “a very, very emotional and long conversation” with the family of the child who had died, he said; and later added that “malnutrition may have been an issue in her death.” Local health officials told The New York Times that the child who died had “no known underlying conditions.” A spokesman for HHS declined to comment.

afaic everyone of you dolts that voted for the orange buffoon have blood on your hands.

He’d also heard that getting measles might strengthen your immune system against other diseases, a view Kennedy has promoted in the past.

Absolutely disgusting to have a man that ignorant in charge of anything. For the record, measles does exactly the opposite of that.

lol no responsibility is always and only individual, you dumb commie.

the only people responsible for the death of that girl are their parents. only them, 100%, with no one else bearing any responsibility at all, not even tangentially, not even vaguely.

People were still dying at a pretty good clip yearly for a harmless rash at that point dude. I'm not promoting some big conspiracy--just pointing out the fact that with All media thru those times it was possible to run into propaganda of various sorts. So it's always worth remembering vs your version of maybe they were just being totally innocent and swell Beav 😀

it's 2 orders of magnitude lower death amounts among kids than the amount that dies drowning in pools.

not saying it's worth 0 but it's very evidently being grotesquely exaggerated in relevance because it's a way to attack the right.

I mean if you could convince 3-5 women PER YEAR not to abort you would make up for the unvaxxed measles deaths.

your tribe instead donates to abortion clinics to make it easier for women to access those services so, who is actually anti-babies lives around here?

Back then it was something like ~500/yr with 10s of thousands of cases/yr. At the time of the episode there were approx 400dead for the year and ~40k cases--if you believe google.

I've had or been part of zero abortions dude and have 2 kids. But I know a fair few R voters I've grown up with that are essentially serial murders by their own definition 😀

Cool that we're pretending death is the only negative outcome of a measles infection. Typical conspiracy theorist tactic.

yes but anti vaxxing isn't going to put the vaxxing rate at 0 ever, and hygiene and treatment are better anyway.

vax rate was 96-97 for a while and is currently 92-94. that when clustered among abtivaxxers causes the occasional spread and the 1-5 deaths per year.

if it goes even lower say to 85 or 80, you get what, 30 deaths per year? 50? 100? still a fairly insignificant amount tbh.

preventable? yes? a stupid waste of life? yes.

but lol at the coverage it gets compared to more relevant things, and it's only because it's a political topic where the left can shows it superiority (a very rare one at that)

You, as usual, have no idea what you're talking about.

Disease gets more coverage than other types of death because it is particularly traumatic. You can’t see it, you can’t really stop it, you know it’s coming from other people around you, and it’s usually a relatively slow painful death where you see your loved one rot away while you spend your entire day next to them wishing anything could make them get better.

I had this experience with my parents and cancer and it was the worst experience of my life. If it happened with my kids, I dunno man definite possibility I’d lose it entirely.

So yeah, that plus the fact that the cost/benefit of vaccines is massive and proven, and it is a death vector that directly correlates with other peoples behavior in a very obvious way, I would say that merits the scale of coverage on it.

That plus he has no idea what an outbreak of measles could actually be like. He has no idea that in some places, vaccination rate is far lower than even 80% and an outbreak there could be devastating. He has no idea that death isn't the only negative outcome of a measles infection. He has no idea that it's one of the most contagious diseases ever to exist. He has no idea the number of innocent people that were being protected by herd immunity and are now potentially in grave danger because their immune system is compromised. He has no idea about nearly anything he runs his ignorant mouth about, and yet he does, over and over again.

He also doesn't care that hundreds of innocent children would die. He also doesn't care about the economic devastation that would come from an outbreak in a vulnerable city. He also doesn't care that health care would once again be overwhelmed and people would be scared to even go see a doctor exacerbating other conditions.

He doesn't know and he doesn't care. All he knows and cares about is making statements and numbers suit his ideology. That's it. That's why he's here. It's completely masturbatory.
