In other news

In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.

I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.

Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.

Was this guy not aware there would be questions at his hearing?

Thank goodness Trump is back. Common sense is back.

You guys must not be watching any of the cabinet hearings then.

Some real winners in there.

Also, do you guys find it funny at all that anyone who isn't a white male, is going to be called a DEI issue? Or that most of the things you guys are screaming about have to do w/ people of color.... immigration, DEI, etc... no red flags for you?

Additionally... many, many, many people from the FAA have come out and said the main issue isn't DEI, it's FUNDING and STAFFING. Since massive cuts to the FAA in the Reagan era, the FAA has been behind in critical safety areas. Trump proposed over $2.4 billion in FAA cuts that had to do w/ safety and flights to rural areas.

Flight safety should be a non-partisan issue... maybe as citizens we should all talk about it that way?

It seems they were only looking for 20 people for a temp position

The point is this was the only change under the first Trump administration. The whole "Obama started it, I stopped it, but Biden started again" is purely fiction.

I was saying this right after it happened, the helicopter was too high. I was wondering why no one was talking about it especially all the "aviation experts" on TV but at least two days later someone mentioned this to the President...

Also, there's so much false info out there especially on fake faux news. They're now spinning it like it was due to cutbacks, and one person was doing the job of two. All this means is the ground controller also handles clearance delivery, or tower also handles ground. It does not mean "the controller had to talk to both the airplane and the helicopter because he was doing the work of two people". It's really nuts how every one of them say the exact same thing, all working towards a mutual agenda (whatever it is).
