POG Politics Thread Version 3
Come on in! Since Dustin is taking his ball and going home, it's time to start a new politics thread.
It's possible to be a Court Historian and still be an excellent Historian, though. The Capitalism-pilled techbro-brained Dwarkesh Patel has Sarah Paine on and it seems to me that, given a fundamentally "western" pov, she does a great job trying to accurately represent other people's povs. This latest one is a tour of povs on why the Soviet Union failed. Access to various layers of understanding from different povs is the essence of historical investigation.
Or something like that.
What's the deal with the Epstein files
There are things I admire about my personal myth of Abraham Lincoln. He was miserable, had a miserable wife, a miserable son, a miserable union, had frequent migraine headaches, and was so ugly he had to grow a beard, which a lot of us can identify with. Yet he continued on and did his best.Lincoln is the American Jesus, he was crucified in Ford theatre for America's sins. He's
basically everyone has some good and some bad in them. Lincoln obv had some great qualities, but so did Hitler, so does trump.
lincoln, like Hitler, was the leader of one of the most genocidal empires in human history
also, historian Gerald Horne is kinda like Howard Zinn. poor man's Howard Zinn.
with great power comes great responsibility. she didn't weild her power well.
also her music got shittier.
seems like she peaked at a young age, and that can make aging gracefully really tough, especially when you put so much value on what other people(the masses) think of you
Doesn't look like anything to me
I think I can make out the word "Zach" on line one.
Legend
so the power went out in SF, and all the waymo cars just stopped, blocking traffic. emergency vehicles could not get through.
that'll be great in a disaster
Emergency plows to clear the waymos.
and crashing 8x as often as human drivers
Oh and the ethnic cleansing causing the death of hundreds of thousands of people in africa
Or the funding and support for fascist movements in the usa and europe.
wait, I just looked it up and it's really called "the Gulf of America" now? lmfao
Nominative ethnic cleansing.
back during the elections i used to say it doesn't really matter if it's trump or harris or biden. and i still mostly stand by that. but this is worse than i thought it'd be :(
The gulf of America pushed you over the edge
The thing that cuts through politics is, do the people have food, housing, and medicine, and all are objectively much worse already directly due to stupid and probably illegal executive actions and congress' complete refusal to govern.
I'll never be a liberal, but in America it's the obvious thing to vote for.
lol yes! idk maybe? obv a lot of other stuff got me close to the edge

i mostly disagree. sort of. like yes of course food, housing, medicine, safety are crucial. my difference of opinion is that 1, libs support and collude with maga, literally funded trumps first run in the primary, so libs are part of the maga problem... and 2, the two(one) parties openly agree on runaway capitalism destroying the planet, which kinda makes all other issues pale in importance.. and also wars, prisons, cops, landlords, ai, corporate rule, status quo hellscape
but anyway, i guess it's the same argument itt for years now lol
Filthy and Amps view is pretty much completely opposite mine. I mean it's not glass half full/empty. It's a different glass. Pretty crazy.
Merry Christmas!
