Roofie probably a little better for bottle/match/spike, but that's easily missed. Also roofie might also bring in nurse.

If nurse is in the picture, why not say chemist instead of chemical?

match is a hard word to pair up with most of these options, so could explain the tough clue

it's also not obvious to think of chemical for match; once you think of chemical, the connection is there, but if someone says 'match' chemical is about the 54th connection that you make

so the other 2 words probably got him thinking about chemical and then match fit

assuming match is even ours, but then still stands; he likely thought of chemical from the other words, not from match

Fair, but outside of bottle, this is true for any of the words on the list.

one thing about chemist vs chemical for nurse; figure is on the board (+ Europe blocks chemist as well imo) so we can't eliminate nurse because it's chemical as he couldn't say chemist most likely

bottle+match is just tough and makes you have to go with science stuff for the most part (or dating stuff)

bottle+match+nurse: I can't think of a better clue than chemical
bottle+match+spike: I like roofie or even date, but maybe they didn't think of match for dating
bottle+match+orange: I like red but maybe they didn't think of it

are there any other combos beside those 3 that you like? And if not, are there any of those 3 that you want to eliminate? What is your favorite?

I will likely defer here if you have strong feeling as I'm back and forth on all 3

I still like bottle/match/spike. I can live with bottle/match/nurse. Not feeling bottle/match/orange at all.

Agent Orange is a chemical and the clue is chemical and it's the only chemical on the board; why don't you like it?

I'm ok with this line if you don't like orange; it could be overlooked and red for bottle, match, orange seems decently obvious, though maybe he didn't like sock as more obvious for red than bottle

Chemical wouldn't be; you can't capitalize to say that another word is capitalized; only because the word you capitalized makes sense to capitalize and there is a connection with the capitalized version of the word

I'm not sure people have been playing this way.

I don't have anything substantial against your reasoning for nurse, so I'm okay with that if you feel strongly. It's very possible chemical would be the clue for both trios and we're just guessing semi-randomly.

I really do think the arguments against orange have it as a distant 3rd.

Just want to throw this out there in case you didn't consider it: Can we pass here? (I think we do have to go for it, but just spitballing that into the record)

they need 4 more, but we have to assume some of the words on their list are good so he won't have to clue for too many, so passing doesn't seem great

one benefit of nurse is it's not on their list so doesn't help them with their list

if spike is ours and we don't guess it, it's second on their list so makes him clue 3 words
orange is pretty far down so doesn't matter much

so we have some outs if spike is ours and we don't guess it, but if ours is nurse and we guess spike, we don't have any extra equity for another turn

I do like orange, but not enough to worry about it given how much you dislike it

of nurse/spike, nurse is hardest to clue for in the trio and doesn't have a roofie or other option that we can easily see

and then guessing nurse doesn't clear up spike for them is another bonus

I also like spike for crochet more than you do; spike has more red equity than nurse does, so another reason to go nurse

so i'm 70% nurse, 30% spike; if it's random guess between the 2 because he will clue chemical for either trio, then nurse has more equity due to spike on their list and maybe hitting crochet, so it's no longer random
