Category Notes:
1) Mid 1990s to early 2000s is your best bet here, but other years might be possible. Don't give me something I've heard a thousand times before; I'd rather have something from that era that I've never heard before. Of course best of all would be something that makes me think "Wow, I haven't heard that in 20+ years. I used to love that song."
2) I'm very familiar with rock and pop. Some rap and R&B, but mostly the stuff that just crosses over to the pop charts. But there's a whole world of music beyond that. Expand my horizons.
3) A lot of Christmas songs suck. Send me one that doesn't.
4) Songs from earlier are okay if they were released as a single this year. I will judge this on the merits. I don't care if I've heard it before.
5) This category was selected by IBD. I will be judging it. Minor points for an extremely weird title, but the song needs to be good. I'd rather have an A+ song with a B+ weird title than a B+ song with a A+ weird title. I will be judging very harshly if the title isn't a little bit weird though.
General Notes:
Category fit is paramount above everything. If you send me a non-Christmas song for #3 or a 2023 song for #4, I don't care if it's the best song I've ever heard, you will finish last.
YouTube links greatly preferred. Other formats are acceptable as long as I don't have to log in to anything.
You may or may not send me additional information (e.g. indicating the rationale for your selection). I promise I will read it. I do not promise it will have any effect on my judgments.

Haha, it’s not a big deal. Just reading eb’s explanation in the edited op it became clear that it’s not as much of a music-related category, which Walrus categories should be first and foremost. It seems he edited the description again tho, so it feels a little better.
Let’s just keep it the way it is so people can get to submitting.

I meant it was a bad category because it’s gimmicky and the gimmick doesn’t relate to the music, which could contribute to shitty submissions to satisfy the category fit. A good category (like the four you wrote) is a condition that will complement the song quality.
