SMP Life is Being Drunk -Random Content thread
Politics has one and its fun, so I figured I'd start one here and see how it goes. Obv you should, but are not requried
I live in a Victorian flat with poor noise and vibration insulation between floors, and my downstairs neighbour is mentally ill, and has found a way of pushing on the ceiling that creates a lot of vibration, and is anxious to do so at every opportunity.
Don't do it bro. Trust me. Hang in there, pun not-intended.

I take issue with everything Roman Yampolskiy says. On death and on superintelligence. I can layout after much thought why he's getting a little too big for his boots, too confident while being wrong
Roman believes we're living in a simulation.
Roman believes death is a disease.
Do you see why his two core beliefs are totally contradictory?
He belives in a simulator, a higher intelliegence. We got a three letter word for it.
Yet this higher intelliegence somehow ****ed it up. No, no, stop right there. You're not going to outsmart anyone silly billly.
Is our simulator indifferent if not malevolent.
The values you wish to preserve through immortailty and the intteligence required to do it, came from whom, if not the simulator.
He wants to escape the simulation. lol
He wants to be a simulator himself because he doesn't realise the obvious fact that he already is. Duh. You are that. Amen.
To put in AI slop/epic wisdom:
βWill the preserved or extended consciousness retain the qualities that define human experienceβour emotions (the complex feelings that give depth to our choices), our spontaneity (the capacity to act in unpredictable, creative, or impulsive ways), and our delight in impermanence (the way we value life precisely because it is transient)βor will it transform into a form of awareness that is fundamentally different, perhaps so altered that it no longer resembles human consciousness and may be beyond our comprehension?β
Maybe we do achieve human immortality via advances in science in the next decade or two.
The first precaution I’d take in such an event is a means to pull the plug. Just in case. Which we already have. Camus was right.

I feel I understand the entire video by listening to the first 1min and 30s only
Which is presumptuous. And if so, Then the question becomes; then what about space, I suppose. But I may listen to the rest
You canΓβt describe what a person is unless you reference something outside it.
ΓβΓβThe external world is just as much you as you areΓβ¦. Is your body you yourself? Is your body in the external world?
Bees and flowersΓβ¦
ΓβWhatever I am involves what you are. Yet I donΓβt know who I am, only what you tell me I am.
Science describes what the body does, not what it is.
Common sense notions such as deathΓβs a disease seem fine until you dont commit suicide at once.
The universe isnΓβt made of stuff.
ItΓβs consciousness ****** itself.
For improving the standards of living, for prolonging the suffering. What suffering? Your mind itΓβs in the future or in the past. Aha
If you find one day that you are God and aren’t going to leave things to evolution any longer because you got the tech, what are you going to do with it?
Not it!
The title isnβt even clickbait. I learned something new and interesting.

WHen she said "We're all it and this is where it's at". I felt that.
I understand she's an actress.
Did you know Ram Dass and Terrence McKenna had a chat in Prague and is on youtube.
PTB recommended Enjoy the silence in the other thread, one week before I did that here. I had no knowledge of that, whatsoever.
Are you kidding me.

It’s now clicking with me REALLY why AI is scary.
It’s interesting that you can feel, that you can have an understanding of something only to then go on to have a deeper understanding of the very same thing you thought you really understood. You didn’t misunderstand as such. You just now have a deeper understanding
I’ll repost this one last time out of fear I’m repeating myself. I expect no one cared the first time. So I hope someone might care the second time. Only to disagree with me and tell me I’ve wasted their time for a second time
