A hole perpendicular to the wall, and where there's no pipes or electrical wires. Use a small bit first and then a bigger bit, right?. What type drill and what bits do you need for a brick wall? How much does it matter whether you're drilling into brick or mortar, and when the wall is covered in plaster, how do you figure out which is which? What protection do you need; face mask, goggles, gloves? What size plug do you need for the weight you want to attach, and what size screws, and how deep should the hole be, and how to clear debris out of the hole? For a noob there's a lot to figure out.

We could ask AI but I agree, this is more fun. From memory, you need a masonry drill bit. It has a type of penetrative head on it, strictly for penetrating concrete. If the screw of whatever youre hanging are of a certain diameter, just go up one in size. I don't know whether you got the metric system or are using imperial but we got to have standards. If you go too big, use little pieces of wood, like match sticks perhaps to complement the plug. The weight of what you're hanging, presumably not yourself or lesser should not be a problem, provided that you're indeed drilling straight into concrete.
