NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA
Just 8 days until Florida State plays Georgia Tech!
A lot happened while you were away:
Texas and Oklahoma joined the SEC
The Pac-12 went out in a blaze of glory:
Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA are headed to the B1G
Utah, Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado are headed to the B12
Cal and Stanford along with SMU are somehow headed to the ACC
Poor old Wazzu and Oregon State are now aligned with the MWC in some sort of in-flux relationship
The conferences are huge now, and the schedules are wildly imbalanced. Florida might have the hardest schedule in the history of the sport, while Missouri's playing a sun-belt slate.
FSU and Clemson play each other, but then play ZERO common ACC opponents
Utah/Baylor and Arizona/Kansas State play non-conference games against conference opponents
LSU and USC play in Vegas!
Boise goes to Oregon, a team they've never lost to!
Texas at Michigan!
Alabama at Wisconsin!
Notre Dame at ATM!
Clemson vs Georgia!
And there are some incredibly juicy new conference matchups:
Texas @ ATM is back!
Texas vs Georgia
Oregon vs Ohio State
USC @ Michigan
USC vs Penn State
And then the bizarre:
UCLA @ Rutgers is now a conference game
Syracuse plays home and away against Cal and Stanford for some reason
Half the teams have new coaches, transferred quarterbacks, or both!
Let's get it on!
apologies, i must go now
back to my self-flagellation
Idiot wanted to taunt so bad. Thankfully his teammates yanked him away.
Lol punting on 4th and 4 at midfield.
The teams I'm rooting for in the playoffs so far are 0-7
:/
So Matthew McConaughey lets a restaurant's' booking app order his meal for him, blind?
Overplayed commercials that gave me a genuine chuckle (the FIRST 200 times I saw them):
“We really needed this rain”
“There’s a really nice barbecue outside, but don’t touch that.”
I do not understand how oregon went 13-0 only to get their **** pushed in this bad
I realize tOSU is an elite roster coached by, by all accounts, a real ****ing clown but still
Ohio St -4.5 over Texas? That's my line at least.
I think we see a slow, grind it out game from both ND and UGA. Not tons of chunk plays. Under 45.5 looks pretty attractive.
Ohio State -6 vs Texas
ND is roughly -1 vs UGA although the line keeps bopping back and forth
BOL has -2.5 -2.5 for ND/UGA vs PSU and DK has -1/-1
DK is usually off on these, and I think is making their typical mistake of taking the line that it would be RIGHT NOW, whereas the ND/UGA winner will on average see their rating increase after they win - in particular, UGA has slightly more to gain bc of the uncertainty around Stockton, so I think ND being a slight favorite now, but those teams ratings conditional on winning being the same makes sense.
My lines basically line up exactly with Vegas, I have OSU at +31, Texas at +25, ND/UGA at +23.5 and PSU at +21.5
I think on average, the UGA/ND/PSU winner gains slightly more than OSU if OSU wins, so I have the final odds as roughly:
OSU 47%
Texas 18%
UGA 10%
ND 10%
PSU 15%
Because I can't help myself, 2025 OOC games:
