MLB No Hitter Pool
This will be a year long pool, that will reset after each no hitter thrown. Once you sign up you are responsible for your entry, and all financial obligations that come along with it, through the end of the 2017 season.
Purpose
To add some extra interest in sweating the no hitter bids.
Cost
$10 to start, and each time it resets, then additional $5 on the 1st of each month.
Payouts
The owner of the team that throws the no hitter will receive 2/3 of the current pool, with the other 1/3 going to the owner of the team that got no hit. If the no hitter is also a perfect game, each entrant will pay a $5 bonus that will be split the same way.
How it works
I'll be looking for 30 entries, 1 for each MLB team. There will be a cap of 1 entry per person, unless we're not able to fill the pool. In that case, I'll allow people to add a second entry if they wish. Once we're at 30 entries, I'll get a couple volunteers to use random.org to randomize 2 lists. One will be the list of people who joined, the other will be the list of all 30 MLB teams. The 2 lists will be matched up, and you'll have your team. After a no hitter is thrown, the lists will be randomized again, and you'll be given a new team to sweat.
Payment
Paypal/Venmo will be the main forms of payment. If you want to join but don't have either of those, let it be known, and we'll find an easy solution, even if it involves mailing me a check. Since nobody will be on the hook for very much money at any given time, I'd rather not require escrows. However, if this is an issue for the majority, I can make escrows a requirement and I'm willing to hold them, unless somebody has an objection. Otherwise, when a no hitter is thrown, I'll post a list of how much people owe, and who it needs to be sent to.
Who can join
I'd want to open it up to the regulars from the MLB thread first, then fill it with other SE regs from there, before opening it up to just anybody.
Recap
Sign up. You're on the hook for $10 as soon as it kicks off. On the first of the month, you'll be on the hook for another $5. We'll keep adding to it until a no no is tossed. Once it happens, payment instructions will be given, and the pool will reset. Once it resets, you're back on for another $10 plus $5 on the first of each month. If 2 no hitters happen to get thrown on the same day, the one that finishes first will be the one that pays. We'll redraw teams and reset the following day. I don't want to have 2 no hitters thrown within hours of each other, and have to retroactively draw names to see who the winner was.
If you want in but are worried about it costing to much over the course of the year, find someone else with the same concern and split an entry. If you sign up but don't want to finish out the season, I'll try to find someone to replace you, but it's ultimately your responsibility to make sure your entry is paid for.
I'm sure I've overlooked several "what ifs" and possibly some other obvious things. Post your questions/concerns/ideas below and we'll work through them before kicking this thing off. I'd like to have it full no later than Sunday evening so we can start on Monday, May 15.
oh snap i still haven't sent anything have I?
Are we redrawing teams for round 2?
You have not. PM coming shortly.
Yep. I'll get that done this morning so we can be rolling again by the time afternoon games start.
Round 1 didn't take long. Congrats to the winners!
SRM - Houston Astros $250
CowboyCold - Toronto Blue Jays $125
I'll work on getting the financials squared away but we'll go ahead and jump into round 2 right away. I'll randomize the names list and again send it to someone not in the pool. Once that's done I'll ask for a list of all the MLB teams to be randomized and posted in here.
At this point I'm just waiting for confirmation from SRM & Schlitz that they're running it back for round 2. Once I have that we'll be off and running.
I've already randomized the list of names for round 2 and sent it to Tom Ames, who I'm sure will be happy to verify it if asked. What I need now is for someone to go here - https://www.random.org/lists/ - and randomize this list....

Angels and Rangers!
When do Scherzer and deGrom come back again?!?
WTF. Padres again???
Winning.
Mets were at serious danger of getting no-hit vs Tigers. They just got a hit in the 8th inning by mostly sheer luck on a half swing to left field that just dropped in.
At least we had one broken up late before another one got thrown. The sweats, and anti-sweats, are where all the fun is. Though I had no idea one had gone that deep today.
Ronel Blanco (Astros) no hitting the Rangers thru 5 innings. 14 innings without a hit. 81 pitches tho.
lol FD 30% Boost I bet Rangers to win today. McMuffBot needs calibrating.
Add me to the interest list for the next time if a spot opens up please
If nobody drops out I'll gladly give you one of my spots.
I'm not asking for more money yet, especially with the group of regs we have in right now, but if anyone is able to confirm they will or won't be in for future rounds that'll be a big help to me in reducing down time when the next one gets thrown.
Guess who's suddenly become an As fan?
JP Sears through 5 vs the Rangers.
I single-handedly caused this good start. I cut him in my fantasy league after he posted a measley 2 K in his first 9.1 IP.
We have a sweat!
CowboyCold - Oakland Athletics
TJ Eckleburg12 - Texas Rangers
Hopefully the jinx works.
