NCAA Basketball Thread 2024-2025
Quick OP here just to get us up and running
Things to watch for this year:
1. Can UConn 3-peat? Hurley won back to back championships with Clingan, Tristen Newton, and company. Can he make it a third with only one returning starter?
2. Who will be this years national player of the year? Zach Edey was the best player I've seen play college basketball in my lifetime. People throw the term generational talent around alot and Edey was truly a generational talent winning back to back national player of the year awards. But, now he's gone. So who can win the award?
- the 5th year guards in Mark Sears(Alabama) and RJ Davis(UNC) are a good spot to start. Both elite shooters and engines of an offense, they should lead two really good teams.
- the 5th year centers in Hunter Dickinson(Kansas) and Ryan Kallbrenner(Creighton) are also viable options. They'll be the anchors to what should be two really good teams.
- The phenoms: Cooper Flagg(Duke), Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper(Rutgers), VJ Edgecombe(Baylor), and Tre Johnson(Texas) lead a loaded freshman class.
3. Who are the contenders?
Lettuce college basketball
they really doin my man wolf filthy with all these side profile closeups of that snout smdh
did we just go from largest michigan lead to largest auburn lead in like 5 minutes? lol
swongs
Auburns run was very fast
Wow. They're gonna cover too. Life sux. Worst tournament ever.
Lock of the decade unlocked.
#4 gold looks like Cesspoole's twin.
Probably already been said but tell me why Tennessee isn't going to beat the dog shyt out of either one of these teams.
Auburn winning despite playing poorly isn't that surprising. Auburn only had one loss this year to a team that was arguably as weak as Michigan. And that team (aTm) is the worst match up imaginable for Auburn.
yeah dont guard the in-bounder, woof
looked like #0 was supposed to switch on the screen instead of chasing over? idk
Sweet inbound play. Offensive rebounding the biggest difference.
So 1v2 1v2 1v2 1v3. I expected a lot of chalk this tournament but sheesh
The combo of NIL and transfer portal was bound to make the tournament more chalky, but yeah, this tournament has been all chalk.
Because Tennessee can't shoot the ball at all. They are the Michigan State of the SEC. All grit and grind, but prone to long dry spells on the offensive end.
Well it's not like me to hype Tennessee in a big game, that's for sure. But aren't they a superior version of Houston? Houston looked like they couldn't score against Purdue. I realize their main main was ice cold, will bounce up probably. What I just saw from Houston would get about what St. Johns would get in the SEC this year. Barely over .500.
What's the line?
What do people think of Tahaad Pettiford as an NBA prospect?
The wrap on him is going to be that he is a score first guard trapped in a small point guard's body. Defense will always be a problem unless he gets much stronger.
But he has a lot of the offensive tools that small guards need to score in the league-- step back threes, extended range, advanced floaters, high bankers with either hand, nuclear leaping ability, etc.
I'm guessing that he will be an instant offense guy who plays 20 minutes off the bench and averages 12 ppg. But he will have a couple of crazy 40 pt games in his NBA career. When he gets it going, he is completely without fear or conscience.

Certainly a creative, artistic type player. Got a lot of hot dog in him. I'm afraid he'll get them beat. Among other things, you don't dance at mid court with the ball with 30 seconds left while eliminating another team. Unless you have some idiot hot dog in you. Broome came out there and nearly kicked his butt, straightened him out hopefully.
I like that bench instant offense role for him in the league. Already had a knee, and that can become a real problem for super explosive types.

Pettiford won't get Auburn beat by doing something dumb. That's Chad Baker-Mazara's job.
One team north of the Mason Dixon line left in the tournament.
The best part about the next two days is it doesn't matter at all who wins, we are about to get the best final four in years regardless
