Can anyone explain to me why SF is blowing it up? Is it all to pay Purdy. I'm the biggest Bork slappy around, and even I think this is excessive. I'm also extremely curious what Bork would get on the market if they let him walk.
I don't think it's as much of a blowup as it looks, although it is a lot of big names. The biggest loss was Charvarius Ward and he wanted to get a fresh start somewhere else for personal reasons. Greenlaw still hasn't gotten totally healthy from his Achilles tear, Hufanga hasn't been healthy since 2022 either, and they were ready to move on from Deebo even without any money concerns. And Juszczyk is 33. Other than that, it's like... their backup offensive tackle, and Maliek Collins, who is a fine enough player but also not one you don't want to pay eight figures if you need to save money.
I guess it's kind of a mini-blowup, but they weren't letting young, healthy players walk or anything like that.
Now, can they hit on fifth-round picks without Adam Peters in the building, that's another question.
Also, Tank is right. Jerry has been asleep at the wheel the last few years.
Paying Brock is definitely part of the reason.
He's getting at least $53.5 now
I don't see a separate draft thread, so I'll say two rumors I've been hearing that make sense, are that the Raiders are looking to take Jeanty at 6, and that Sanders could fall to the Saints at 9 (but probably not further).
Pretty easy to see how that would shake out. Something like:
1. TEN - Cam Ward
2. CLE - Abdul Carter
3. NYG - Travis Hunter
4. NE - Will Campbell
5. JAX - Mason Graham
6. LV - Ashton Jeanty
7. NYJ - Armand Membou
8. CAR - Tetairoa McMillan
9. NO - Shedeur Sanders
First one I have an easier time seeing happen than the second, largely because the Giants have not figured out their QB situation at all, and Daboll and Schoen are on the hot seat. But if they do and they decide they're out on Sanders for whatever reason, then it becomes realistic.
the Athletic's Ted Nguyen did a solid article/film study on Sanders
seems like the dude could easily fall into the 20s iyam
he has all the earmarks of a 1st Round bust

A lot of this is clearing the runway for Bork and I’m being overly generous here but they’re definitely not blowing it up in context.
Niners went 6-11 last year with Trent injured, CMC missing a lot of the year and Aiyuk missing basically all of it while Pearsall recovered from a gunshot. I would say 5 of the games they lost were very winnable if not for luck and incompetence. The worst DC imaginable has been replaced by a top 3 DC
Of the players the Niners moved on from, the only 2 that had any weight on the roster last year were juice and banks. Everyone else was either injured or blew donkey ass. Of those that were either injured or blew donkey ass the only consequential loss was Greenlaw
Now if they deal Trent and CMC it’s a clear sign they’re blowing it up, but considering Trent has anywhere between 0 and 2 years before retiring and is still on the roster it’s clear they’re trying to retool through the draft and health and cut out the fat. I can get behind that
Ah, I forgot Banks, but I think it's unlikely he's worth what he got paid

do we have the Kupp contract structure yet?
surely it isn't 3/45 fully guaranteed
Juice has returned!
9ers gonna Super Bowl!
Narrator: the 29ers failed to qualify for the playoffs
looking forward to the Cooper Rush Era (TM) in Baltiimore!
It'll be fun to watch him play the final game against Cincy.
His play style is so similar to Lamar you probably won't even be able to tell the difference if/when Lamar goes down, lol.
It's up to $12M over 2 years based on playing incentives which he's unlikely to hit, so more like 2/6 with 2m gtd. I mean the team is pooched if Lamar goes down, maybe we could ride Henry to 450 carries or something, but Josh Johnson was not a real backup QB so someone had to be signed.
The D Hop signing is fun in a vacuum but it's probably about as valuable as OBJ was. Which is to say, OBJ had several very big catches and wasn't a negative, but overall the offense doesn't really need another playmaker. The depth helps I guess.
Are they keeping Tucker?
Truly no idea. Probably waiting for NFL investigation to run its course.
am i correct understanding last season Chase was extension eligable and the bungles could have locked him down as the highest paid non-qb in the nfl for $35M+$1?
It’s one of the ways the Lions have shown themselves to be well run. They extended St Brown and Sewell early last offseason, both to extend them out longer and also to get ahead of other contracts later in the offseason
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they extend Hutchinson soon, even though he’s coming off a bad injury and they can have him under contract for two more years. They know he’s a long term keeper that they will have to pay and they can get him cheaper now than in 12 months
They still have $52m on this year’s cap because St Brown and Sewell and Goff don’t get more expensive til 2026
