Wow, guess I'll watch the Ohtani highlights. Tough loss for the Jays, but they have Yesavage and Bieber at home they're not out of it.

Does anyone else wonder if it's necessary that Alejandro Kirk be so fat? Surely he'd be a better player if he dropped some weight.

I guess there are shortcuts to becoming the GOAT. I don't know how many years of this kind of stuff it takes to make a run at it, but it isn't 20. It isn't 15. When you are talking GOAT for Peak it might be about 5, ala Koufax.

Thru 5 or 6 innings tonight the Brewers team BA for the series dipped to about .092. I checked it as I was at the poker table. With four late hits I think it jumped to about .117. Surely they at least threatened the record??

Ohtanis game was incredible.

But.

They went ahead 3-0 in the series and he had done absolutely nothing. I don't think you should win MVP when the only game you were good in was the up 3-0 already game. Yamamotos big game seemed more meaningful.

Edit: I guess he had 3 walks and a triple earlier. I might have also been remembering how bad he was vs the Phillies.

4 mvps and a 2nd place in a 5 year stretch is right up there. Bonds 2000-2004 did the same. Ohtanis starts getting into uncharted modern MVP territory though if he wins next year.

Depends on your perspective I suppose

Reality is, this was the single greatest game of baseball ever played by a player and it absolutely isn’t close. Being capable of doing **** like this is definitely a shortcut if you want to call it that

Bet the "Tungsten Arm" O'Doyle special, and was excited after the 1st. Should have known Milw was too inept.

But if the answer on the surface is Yamamoto, then Shohei is actually the answer. Like similar pitching games even if Yamamoto went longer, but Shohei won the game by himself and Yamamoto obviously only got to pitch.

The 3-0 argument is moot since everyone you'd look at is only getting a one game sample. Snell, Yamamoto, Glasnow all similar performances in similar situations. Probably can only consider it in like a 2-2, 3-2, or 3-3 situation.

Ohtani had the most dominant performance between the pitchers because he got to hit, so he deserves the MVP.

Like who was the best hitter? Edman?

Congrats to all that watched the Dodgers game and witnessed the greatest performance in MLB history, including the postseason.

Fixed it for you. I think this distinction is important because it really puts it into greater context. Baseball has been around a long time. There's been a lot of great players and a lot of games played, and that was the best so far.... by an actual fairly wide margin.

I'm just going to sit back as a Dodgers fan and enjoy them ruining baseball for a while.

Doyer confirmed lock.

Yup. I quit betting for good earlier this week, but I would be all over the Dodgers in the World Series.

nah, team of density ms got this. the money is free

Ohtani had the best sportsball game of all time last night. Tops Wilt's 100 pts easily.

I wanna change the Sporting Events Forum name to "Sportsball Forum", should I ask the owners?

And it was in a clincher to get to the World Series. I don't count the 3-0 series lead against him too much, if at all in that scenario. If Chamberlain had 60 points, 40 rebounds, and 20 assists, and 10 blocks in a series clincher to get to the finals, I don't think it counts against him that the series was pretty much a foregone conclusion. It's more dramatic in a close series, but it isn't any better.

I gotta hear more about this. I just quit this week too after decades embroiled in it. Amazing.

Remarkably, he might have upstaged himself with this GOAT game. Remember that game he went 6-for-6, 3 homers, 10 RBIs, 6 runs, 2 stolen bases, 2 doubles ... establishing the 50/50 Club in the process? And had he stretched one of those doubles it would have been a cycle. You can't make it up. It makes stuff like The Natural look like a slump.

So he's played the 2 GOAT games ever, pretty much.

This reaction tells me there will be some good value in betting the AL side in the series

Let somebody else have it. It's their turn. I got my play in. First poker games in the 70s. First football pools in the 60s. First live bet with a bookie 1983 title game Penn. State over Georgia in Herschel Walker's last college game. Won by a hook.

Who's ready for more Toronto pain?

Feeling a Jays win tonight. They're even wearing proper white home uniforms.

I’m glad both teams in the ALCS are both mildly inoffensive, for a neutral to enjoy.

Raleigh is awesome, Vladito is awesome, can’t wait to watch a great game.

Oh baby!

YAY!!!!
