NCAA Football 2025
Not sure who will win this year, hopefully Arch goes nuts and UT can kick the door in after making the quarterfinals the

Not really. Born in 78. Was watching polka dot door and sesame street at the time. Just know I'd lose all respect for a coach who went for a tie in that spot.

I was around but I don't remember the '66 Parseghian thing, MSU/Notre Dame. I do remember the '69 de facto title game in which Royal went for 2 to avoid the tie. But I thought Osborne with the great comeback on the road, just take the tie and the national title. He didn't even have one yet. The problem was with the rule ... not having OT. I remember a Florida/Florida state thing, crazy comeback by Noles from down 31-3. He took the 31-31, which Osborne should have done.
But if Osborne was going to go for it, just run the sweep. I swear I think on that last drive they had a 4th and 12 and just ran the sweep for 15. Just running over them. XP = title, sweep = title. It was kind of like Carroll/Seattle on the goal line.
Osu really helped Miami bleed the clock
Teams with byes have yet to make the semifinals.
Was gonna say Osborne called the wrong play. I canβt remember if there was a timeout before the try. Great read & tackle by the Miami player.
My recollection is at least one of the announcers were a bit surprised he went for it. Donβt think he hesitated or huddled with assistants.

OSU's defense appears to be insane, but it's not like they are an offensive juggernaut or something
they gained 203 yards at 3.76 ypp against Texas (very good) defense
they gained 272 yards at 4.25 against Illioins (fine) defense (Indiana gained 570 yards at 8.04 ypp against this same defense)
(OSU was outgained in both of these teams)
Alabama against the 5 top-40 teams they've played (they went 4-1):FSU - 4.7 ypp to 6.1, 341 yards to 382UGA - 5.2 to 6.7, 397 to 357Vandy - 7.0 to 6.2, 486 to 333Mizzou - 4.3 to 5.8, 325 to 325Tennessee - 6.1 to 5.3, 373 to 410So, they got outgained by 0.6 yards per play1922 yards at 5.4 yards per play versus 1807 yards at 6.0 yards per playOhio State against the 3 top-40 teams
I tried to tell you guys.
OSU's defense was excellent, but all the pundits (and Vegas) were acting like they were some unbeatable juggernaut, and they just weren't. Their offense was extremely mediocre every time they played an opponent with a pulse.
Miami just beat them up in the trenches, particularly in the first half, and then made a spectacular defensive play. Then the U players on the field refused to allow the game to come down to some boneheaded Cristobal decision, and they deservedly got the W
This. Ohio State was massively overrated all year. The product of playing one of the easiest schedules in team history which admittedly wasn't their fault. Arch wasn't ready yet, Penn State imploded, and Michigan sucked.
In the bigger picture they still had a good year. To lose all that talent in the draft, dealing with a mediocre offensive line that cant run the ball plus having a 1st time starter QB and still win 12 games is impressive.
Beating everyone you're supposed to beat is still an accomplishment but this will go down as one of the most empty 12 win seasons ever. They played two real teams all year and lost both. No Big Ten Championship, and got bounced from the playoffs right away. At least they ended the streak against a shit Michigan team I suppose.
makes me grumpy UO isn’t wearing green, yellow, or chrome helmets
anywho, go ducks!
two very physical teams, TT has gotta be wearing out
32-13 snap difference
16:05 to 5:22 TOP difference
huge goal line stop for TT
Thatβs ball game imo. What a dumb throw
Feel like Tech's defense is putting on one of the best performances I've ever seen, and they are getting absolutely ****ed in every way by their offense and special teams
special teams has a missed fg, gave up a fake punt for a 1st down, was just offsides on a punt for a first down, and gave up 2 long returns
offense has just been atrocious
basically had to deal with 5 turnovers and being on the field 100% of the game
Tech's defense is legit.
Their offense is complete ****. They'll be shopping for a QB and some WR's tomorrow.
They were outbid by LSU for the cincy QB, they should be upping their bid.
Oregon doesn't kneel. Lol.
*exhale*
Belt to ass
The question of Rest vs. Rust seems to be Rust in these cases.
Proposal: Give the teams the ability to "defer" their bye. Now, if you think this would allow them to pull a bracket shenanigan to play different teams, no.
If the number 1 seed defers, the number 8 seed becomes the number 1, and the number 1 seed becomes the number 8. Since the 1 seed would normally play the winner of the 8 and 9 seed, the original 1 seed would actually have to play both, assuming they win the first game.
If the number 2 seed defers, 2 and 7 swap. If the number 3 seed defers, 3 and 6 swap. If the number 4 seed defers, 4 and 5 swap.
Then, do it again, If 1 deferred, then the original 8 could defer and swap with 9. If 2 deferred, then the original 7 could defer and swap with 10. If 3 deferred, the original 6 could defer and swap with 11. If 4 deferred, the original 5 could defer and swap with 12.
It keeps the same teams in the same bracket "wedge", but just playing in a different order, if the higher ranked seed so chooses.
Would teams have the stones to defer? Unlikely, since a first round exit for a top 4 team that deferred would probably be seen as one of the worst decisions in CFP history. But it would give an option for a coach who has full faith that his team can win the first round, and then play better in the second round than if they had been resting longer.
