'Me... I should spring in the air and fall down...'

Happy Spring!!!!!!! At least yesterdays snow all melted.

I love Spring even though the weather is kinda sketchy. I am not sure that people who don't live in a harsh winter area can really appreciate spring to its fullest. Spring brings new hope, baseball, lots of outdoor activity, travel and hopefully a lengthy stretch of pleasant weather.

I have a bunch of weird traditions. First weekend of spring I usually watch my 2 favorite spring break movies. I will be doing that tonight by watching Spring Break and Where the Boys Are. Very nostalgic glimpes into the past of college hijinx.

Tonights agenda

Jesus! I just finished Spring Break and started in on Where the Boys Are. I just realized Spring Break is 42 years old and Boys is 65 years old. This means I am older than dirt! Watch these movies as soon as possible to remember what we have lost :(

I'm not sure what we lost, we still have bad movies

I'm not sure what we lost, we still have bad movies

We have lost the mascullnaty of OT and Stu from Spring Break as well as chicks that bury Sidney Sweeney. In Boys we lost the chemistry of Hutton and Prentiss. TV (Hutton) is one of the greatest movie characters ever created. Then there are the social mores of the time which are universal. Not to mention the vocal stylings of Connie Francis and the always awesome Frank Gorshin. George Hamilton and Yvette Mimiuox became stars. These are two spectacular movies which will forever last the test of time.

Both caputure the mood and feelings of their era and are spectacular.

I enjoy that you enjoy that you enjoy them, but nostalgia for olden times always seems to forget what else was going on in those times.

Still in the seasonal affective disorder stage. It will end in a few weeks when the semester ends.

I chase the dogs around the yard with them...

I forgot to go to one of my classes last week. Just plain forgot. I've never done that in over 30 years of teaching.

However, I didn't make up an excuse. I simply asked my students to forgive my stupidity.

You could have just told them that the class itself was forgettable.

I have the Nextdoor app to check out local news. Usually it's lost pets and coyote spottings.

Today, one guy posted a close up pic of Marty Feldman and was immediately chastised for posting pictures of weird looking people (I guess most don't know who he is).

Of course, I needed to reply with "What hump?" and "Great knockers."

Finally one woman joined in with "Abby normal."

I'm sure most of the neighbors have no idea.

lol I've never actually forgotten to go to a class, John...but I've come close. Once forgot which building a class was in.

Do any of you get those TEMU ads? I can never tell what is being sold.

Yep. I'm confused as to why our AI overlords think that's interesting to me. I rarely buy stuff online. When I do, it's always the same things, which aren't whatever Temu is selling.

I am looking for this track suit...

Opening Day!!!!!!!! My favorite sports day of the year. White Sox gunna suck, but who knows? That's the beauty of spring. MLB has had many cases of worst to first. Late 80's (I think?) Minnesota and Atlanta both came in dead last. The next year they were both 100-1 to win the World Series that they played in that year.

Anything can happen 😀 Not to jinx it or anything but I laid out 5 hard earned dollars on the parlay of White Sox World Series and Bears Superbowl. I think I got pretty crappy odds as it only pays 90K. But if it happens and I'm not there I would hate myself 😀

We've got a perfect game going here in Texas!

Sox win. The Red Sox that is.

In 1966 the Red Sox finished ninth out of ten teams. In '67 they won the pennant. So even though it's not last to first, it was an accomplishment.

The Sox won on the last day of the season with the Tigers and Twins one game behind and the White Sox three.

They would have been a good bet to win. I think they had the best record in the league after the All Star break in '66.

I'm glad I have a pension. Since my job is easy, I may never retire.

We know Mr baseball is paying attention.

The Tigers played a final day doubleheader. The pennant wasn't decided until the Tigers' Dick McCauliffe ground into a game two ending double play against the Angels while the Red Sox sat in their clubhouse listening on AM radio. At age 8, that was the summer I became a sports fan. I owe much to the 1967 Boston Red Sox.
