2025 WSOP!!
I know itβs early and normally Iβm not excited about WSOP this soon after but dang it, Iβm itching to go back already!
I
Since according to the WSOP+ APP they are starting the mystery million tables 6 handed today I think you are giving them ENTIRELY too much credit for efficiency and organization
I disagree. There are many interesting personalities in the game. I think it's primarily a failure of packaging. If you have a PokerGO subscription, do this experiment for me. Watch the first 5 minutes of the 2019 WSOP Main Event. Then go back and watch the first 5 minutes of the 2007 Main Event on PokerGO. Tell me which is more exciting and interesting, and make note of any imp
Iβm not sure if every poker player in the world watched these broadcasts, if it would be enough to warrant mainstream coverage.
But I do agree the coverage is not the same.

That seems fine. Frequently before, it was 4 or 5 handed.
You don't want the late reg all slumped together. If all tables are equal, that's great. More than half of a field registers after the start anyway (especially these morning large fields) so its gonna be a issue of start somewhat short vs having people lumped together vs how long of late reg there should be vs bustouts.
Or moving people to make new tables but there's entirely too many people for that.
An hour in and most tables are 8 handed.
Do I need to be fully verified on the WSOP+ app to register for a tournament? If I am heading to an event directly from airport, can I buy in with cash at the cage or do I need to stand in verification line first?

You need to be verified one time regardless of how you are paying for the event.
I can't wait to be there on the 12th, but from what I'm reading it sounds like there are some real pros and cons to the new WSOP+ app:
Pros:
- You can always see who's at your table. No more "that guy looks familiar, I'm pretty sure that's a pro I've seen on a stream but I can't come up with his name" experience.
- No long wait in line for a seat assignment for late reg and re-entries (at least this is what I've gathered so far)
- No more having to remember or take a picture of your new table number after being moved so you can find it again after a break
- Able to see the clock for events you're not in, and total run times for completed events are readily available.
- Sounds like options for paying are better than with Bravo, including (very likely temporary) suspension of credit card fees.
Cons:
- Extra 1-time verification step required for everyone, not just the small subset of players using a credit card.
- Dealers have to use a tablet for verifying arriving players and recording bust-outs. One more thing for newbie dealers to have to learn and potentially screw up.
- Have to wait until the hour before the event starts to find out your initial seat assignment.
- App allows users to show a nickname, greatly reducing the benefit of being able to see who's at your table.
- The geniuses decided we only need the new app, and neutered the website, eliminating all the historical info and easily searchable PDF reports, and an overall far-more-user-friendly experience for following events from home.
- Potential for total Cluster F situation if a glitch in the system or an app update prevents users from seeing their seat assignments before the event starts. Envision a few thousand players milling about wondering if they're in HS or Paris and growing restless as the minutes tick down.
- Better make sure your phone is always charged!
Overall I think it's likely to be a positive, but there are obviously some initial pains, as expected. If they can restore a useful web site I'll like it a lot more. It's just unbelievably stupid for them to have nuked the old site just before the series started.
This app also potentially discloses your staking activity if you buy pieces of action thru poker stakes (the old pocket Fives ) . And it's does so for TOTALLY UNRELATED EVENTS including those completed months ago. Discloses your investment, your % of action, and your WINNING amount. I came across this info for a friend's account as I was following him in the mystery million.
That is such a HUGE invasion of privacy in my opinion I was totally shocked. My friend did not input this but in some manner possibly inadvertently cross linked in his set up.
But IF you personally use the app I suggest you check to see if you happen to stake players thru POKERSTAKES.

IMO WSOP+ , Pokerstake.com and GGPoker are in serious violation of privacy legal boundaries and laws.
Does anyone know if there's free parking at Horseshoe / Paris for bracelet or Daily Deepstack events?

If you are paying with cash, you get verified at the same time you are paying by the cashier in the cash line. It will go faster if you already have the app on your phone, and you have already input your Caesar's Reward number into the app. You need the physical player's card, and a valid ID also.
For those that were complaining about the lack of historical transparency in regards to the new wsop.com site, there is apparently an app, W50P which has just that ; listen starting from minute 34:00 on the Pokernews podcast :
Disclaimer : I have yet to check out the app myself, but am just listeniing to the Pokernews Podcast/some peeps ITT seem to be seeking all the yesteryear WSOP data
If I had to guess, players sign away all their legal rights when they sign up for the app.
I'm pretty careful on such issues and if I provided that much of a blanket release it was extremely well hidden in a disclaimer that I simply do not recall accepting.
I have zero problem with normal basic proof of identity. Hell I set up a TBIC account give them a serious Cashiers check so they absolutely need a significant amount of information.
Some of that is simply for MY protection. name address age gender etc are all fair game.
But how in the hell they have the right to publicly provide financial information on STAKING - AMOUNT SPENT AMOUNT WON PLAYER STAKED % ETC for PAST events
and NON WSOP event to top it off is ridiculous to the extreme. I could even intellectually understand disclosure of a staking in an event I am also a participant
of but I have signed up for NOTHING yet and who I am backing via POKERSTAKES has ZERO business being disclosed.
I have sent a request in to asking for the information to be deleted or at a minimum show me where I provided disclosure release.
Whether I get an answer or not I will let people know. This one shocked and Pxssed me off. I need more online exposure with a new untested app like I want a hole in the head.
Thank You!

Good luck. GG/NSUS isn't an American company. Pokerstakes is own by GG/NSUS.
The cc processor they were using was in Malta.

Hey, Iβm not saying itβs right. Itβs just probably not illegal. Iβd be more upset with the staking company. But you probably agreed to some fine print there too about sharing your information.
This is one of the concerning things about the WSOP being owned by a relatively new online company. CET, for all its warts, was well established in the gaming industry. GG are newbies. One can imagine numerous scenarios where theyβre gone within a few years. I imagine there will always be a WSOP so long as poker is popular, but the annual and periodic festivals we have all become accustomed to could easily face turmoil for some period of time, pretty much at any point going forward.
If over 1000 made it to day 2 of the Million Dollar bounty the turnout must have come close to last year's. Anyone know what it was this time?

It surpassed last year. 19,654 entries this year, 18,418 last year. Not exactly apples-to-apples though as last year there were 4 flights and this year added a 5th. So 20% more day 1's and 6.7% more total entries. I haven't seen anywhere that reports total unique players, but I'm betting it was likely pretty flat, with most (or even all) of the additional entries resulting from players firing more bullets than last year.

I think overall GG has big plans for the WSOP. They are really trying to expand the brand. There will be WSOP events all year around in the future. I do love the Idea of more good poker events, but it will devalue a WSOP bracelet.

That's good. Extra flight or not, it tells me that attendance isn't crashing this year. Anyone who lets politics discourage them from attending isn't a real poker player. Just my opinion.

I actually checked and although I have signed up for the app and initiated my Senior registration I have NOT signed their security release yet. Now the information may not be "public" yet until I am officially entered into an event and I realize I will eventually be required to sign their bullet proof release but as of now they are definitely over stepping their rights
