Resorts World NYC (Queens, NY)
Let's start this thread now that we know there is going to be one!
I'm hoping for lot of juicy PLO games, mixed games, an
It's nice to see you guys so bullish. I was thinking we'd be lucky to get it before next summer.
Sucks to be so close, but so far away!
a buddy of mine knows a contractor who works there, according to him all plaster and major construction work is finished, wrapping up electrical and laying down carpet atm
allegedly they are working crazy ot hours trying to finish it asap
think there's a good chance they'll have some table games up and running within a month or so
no word on poker
Maybe you get to work at the food court then?
Setting new poker cards in the air over/under at 4/1/27.
They probably already got ppl for that
And 4/1 next year seems like a long time.
Im guessing june/july for table games minimum. If we are lucky both.
But wait times for poker will prolly be crazy
Dilly and I found a dude on Reddit looking for housing who did the dealer training school who says they are targeting end of April, but not sure yet on when poker will happen. Not by end of April, certainly, though
He did say they are going to have a poker room, for whatever that is worth
I was at Turning Stone during their WSOP and was there again this week.
During WSOP, I had a conversation with one of their dealers, a veteran dealer with two decades of experience and who knows dealers and managers in every east coast poker room north of DC. He told me that NO ONE working any poker room within 3.5 hours of RWNYC has heard about any posts for dealer school, nor has anyone been approached to come deal poker there.
Then today, he was dealing a down at my table where player in seat 2 accurately mentioned how RW does not take poker seriously vis a vis closing their Vegas room, and the absolute joke of a “room” they have at RW Catskills. Player to his left in seat 3 chimes in with, “maybe RWNYC doesn’t want to cannibalize the poker crowd at Catskills and that’s why they aren’t doing poker yet for the NYC expansion.”
Talk about backing yourself into a correct answer! Seven tables running at this exact moment at RW Catskills on a Friday night, so to that I say, “what poker crowd?” Haha.
I still say we will be waiting quite a while for poker, and even when it comes to RWNYC, it will be given limited thought, consideration, and attention, and will be disappointing to all of us in the poker community.
Write this one off people, and hope that Uncle Stevie and his friends from Hard Rock can replicate the size, quality, and type of room they have at HR Hollywood or HR Tampa once the Citi Field project happens.
Long term hard rock will probably have the best poker room
But for now i see them opening this room by the end of2026 if i had to guess
Call me crazy, but I’m still relatively optimistic on timing for RW, and I think they have a fairly good chance of being the best room in the area.
Hard Rock loves poker but 30 tables is wack, and 40-50 at Ballys isn’t much better. I still think it might be in the cards for us to see a 100 table room at RW

Dilly I’m sorry, but while you are 100% entitled to your own opinion and wishes, and while I hope it will come soon and come hard, this idea of 100 tables is 100% delusional thinking. There will be, at best, a 20 table room at RW, when they get around to it, and they aren’t getting around to it for quite a while. You might need to prepare yourself to hear about poker in another new venue before you get what you want from RWNYC.
Until then, gotta keep commuting to Philly/AC/CT, or, give your business to the (read this sarcastically please) “amazing and stable” poker room RW Catskills already runs.
I dont believe 20 tables

He may have been overly optimistic, but 20 tables is overly pessimistic

I would lay a pretty significant bet for 30+ tables, and only a slightly smaller bet for 50+. I don’t agree with your analysis of the available information
March done and officially nothing yet
There are 22 at Rivers in Chicago and the waitlists can be long there. 20 in NYC would be a disaster.
There are 52 I think at MGM National Harbor and there the wait lists aren't crazy but they are there the relevant metro area is, what, 1/5th (?) what NYC's is (factoring in MD Live is an option, and Jersey people will likely go to Parx etc still).
new over/under for poker's first cards in the air: June 21st.
Over June 21 for poker with near certainty lol.
And yeah 20 tables is absurd, besides looking at Borgata and Parx as a benchmark and adjusting given the market and that the overall casino is going to have more than twice as many games as Borgata, it just seems so unlikely hard rock announces 30, Ballys 40, and resorts world would go less as the biggest of the three overall.
What could happen is a small temporary room until a new part of the casino is built, and that temp room could be 20 tables.
What could happen that would be worse is they just wait on poker until they have a new space built and that means we’re lucky if we get early 2028 poker lol
Yea the real over/under should be jan1 2027.
I agree i could see a temp room being 20 tables. But a solid complete room no way. Also it would bea nightmare if poker becomes backburner and doesn’t happen til 2028+
I am visiting end of June (I'm also there in 2 weeks but no chance), if by some miracle there is poker by then I will definitely try to play and will "happily" wait donking off money at table games while I do.
I don't see it though, I saw how long it took Rivers in Chicago to get going even when they announced it, this is going to be way worse. Over even on Jan 1 2027 imo.
Yeah, I think maybe later this year, if at all. I think we'd be lucky if there's poker before Labor Day but I was also thinking what Dilly was, that we'd get some kind of smaller temp room while they build out of a bigger space
I forsee about 40-50 tables. Also remember, just because these casinos say 30, 40, 50, etc, they can always adjust to do more of less
The way they been radio silent about things got me believing the over on jan 1 2027 too.
I will say this though, i dont think it will be much over, prolly the ball will get rolling around then for poker.
So on nycasinos.ny.gov there’s a final report and findings document that I hadn’t read yet. And within those 400 something pages, I couldn’t help but notice that it mentions a poker room….with 13 tables.
It also mentions they are still potentially going to have 800 tables eventually. 800, and 13 for poker. This can’t be real lol
13 is actually hilarious enough that I think there's a bigger chance of that rather than 20
Lol 13….. if that somehow happens GGs
