Daniel Negreanu's very own containment thread. All things Danny go here
how bad must he be when a girl falls asleep while making out and snores right after?
life fish..... food arrived but didn't eat it....
o well atleast the girl grinded him on the rails of a club, almost got kicked out for grinding? Kappa
Those of you saying his % cash is about 10%
So he would have to have more re entries then entries.
Does he have that many. More than 150 re entries?

Among the results, Negreanu also put in the most volume he’s had in years citing 145 tournaments, far and away the most events he’s played in a single year over the past decade and, according to him, perhaps in his career. He cashed in 39 events (~27%), although Negreanu doesn’t count how many entries he’s bought in for in a specific event, simply if he cashed or not.
DNegs claims he's had only two losing years in his 30 year poker career.
I call bullshit on that.
He's had two losing years in the last 10 years.
No chance DNegs went the first 20 years of poker without having a losing year.
Poker was so much easier back then so I do believe it. Also he gets extra reads by talking to people which not many other players do and hes very good at it but this tactic has lost a lot of its magic in modern poker because back then a lot of people didnt understand tells even existed. Poker has gotten way harder in the last 10 years so what he says fits fine.
For some of that period, he was grinding low-mid stakes tournaments. That is different from playing high rollers. Most grinders are upset if they have a loosing month. It is like having a losing year playing 2/5 NL.

I believe it. People were atrocious for basically all of those 20 years and for a lot of those 20 years he was clearly a world class player and actually grinding hard to win.
Idiots like Mike Matusow and TJ Cloudier were crushers back then.
I think he's a massive dog in high rollers. But they didn't even exist 10+ years ago. He's one of the few people from 10-20 years ago who isn't completely washed out breaking even etc who can at least still compete today.
If you look through Hendons of a lot of guys from back then they still play a lot but basically play small and only have min cashes. 15 years ago they'd have multiple 6 figure scores each year. A bunch of Humberto Brenes types who DN was way better than .

He definitely has more reentries than entries. He has 2 entries literally almost every event. He frequently has 3+ entries. He even says so himself in another part of the vlog "People say its unfair that I have multiple entries. Yes I have 2-3-4 entries" (the way he says it implies even 4 entries is common for him). It wasnt like that this year but one of the years he was chasing POTY he had literally 15+ entries in an unlimited reentry tournament. Also funny that he says in relation to this - "but its not unfair that I have more entries, because I am often negative EV in my first bullets - you should be happy Im adding money to the field" - literally admitting that hes very often randomly punting to try to build a stack. While at the same time claiming that "running bad" is his main enemy. Lol. The people buying at 1.0 markup are getting ripped off because hes viewing those first bullets as worthless, and not paying out on wins from reentries.
My 10% number was based on what I think is a fairly fair estimation that he has about 3 entries on average. Maybe he is closer to 12% but seriously doubt its higher than that.
Dnegs starts 2024 in the black with a win in the 10k opening event of PGT Last Chance.
He played fine got out of a few bad spots and crushed Bonomo's chances early
I am wondering of the money he lost, how much did he pay in rake ?
(online player not sure of live rake)
Would be interested to know the impact of the rake alone.
Maybe increasing the rake isn't good for the game
just saying

AFAIK the Poker Go studio events are rake free for entries that show up at the start of level 1, and Dnegs does like to show up on time so he probably has quite a few rake free entries, minus rebuys of course.
The year of DN coming! Wins his first tournament, and even better, beats Bonomo, that's delicious.
Anyone watch it? Should have gotten 2nd. The last hand played every street wrong and was rewarded by binking a 4-outer on the river.
He flats AK as button. Bb checks with J2. Flop JJx(small card). Bb checks, DN bets and BB check raises, DN calls. Turn 10. Bb leads out and DN shoves all in. Bb calls all in with DN barely covering. River Q. Good game.
That turn jam was atrocious
Bonomo really looks like hes loving life as a high stakes live grinder!

That has to be the absolute worst way you could play that hand ?
He has to be one of the most results oriented player. Plays like this patting himself on the back, always rabbit hunting online, etc.
It isn't quite as bad as it looks. Obviously, playing for a 3-bet preflop. Thinks it is unlikely his opponent has a J, because there are only 2 Js left, and opponent might raise preflop with a J.
sure, turn call is a better play but if the opponent bet draws more often than baseline it might be ok. it is not atrocious or the worst way to play the hand

Seems like people here are being results oriented. Maybe not good play, but DN figured his opponent didn't have a J and was trying to bluff him. It is easier to see how bad it is when you know his opponent's hole cards. Obviously, DN should have folded to the raise because his opponent had trips.

"massive winner on party 2003-2008. the cfo of party, vikrant bhargava, even flew to america to meet some of us to see how we were playing so many hands, make it easier to multi table without opening multiple accounts and to give us bank cards to withdraw. i also played on a 100% rake back "prop" account at absolute and killed it for a while. by 2009 i was nearly 100% live poker. "
"I have a deal with a casino to run a game. i play about 15 hours a week. 10-20-straddle PLO and $30 ante double board bomb pots. When a big casino has a grand opening soon I will be steering their new dealers in the pits and counting cards on opening week!!!at you needed to online to win wasn't fun or interesting to me."
From your thread. "100% live" the last 14 years....? Heavy volume..?
