Survivor: GENERAL THREAD
I wanted to post something Survivor related but realized there's no general thread about Survivor. Each thread is about a particular season or votes for hottest, best, etc.
Given that who knows when/if the show will come back, here's a general thread to post all things Survivor.
I won't ruin the OP with my content post, so it will come next.

In the meantime, I’m trying to plow through The Challenge. Talk about a show that does not need 90 minutes.
The Challenge is a drag. Especially since it’s the same people every season.

Started watching last year and binged 31-38 alongside USA 1&2, All stars 1&" and world championship.
The variance between season quality is stark with some having a format and cast that encourages dynamic and interesting gameplay whereas others encourage a group of 10 pre existing friends to pagong everyone else and then all make the final..... all across 24 episodes of 90 minutes each
In the meantime, I’m trying to plow through The Challenge. Talk about a show that does not need 90 minutes.
Considering about fifteen minutes is always about who's hooking up and being out at the bar, definitely.
Have to admit though, those Challenge finals are brutal. I watched one where four people made the final and three of them just quit the final challenge because they were basically freezing to death so the only one who actually crossed the finish line just got handed 500k.
Now 15 more minutes is shots of people working out
Just re-watched s7 (Pearl Islands) on Netflix.
As usual, I love challenges that don't look like studio sets and where there majority don't end with puzzles.
Some observations:
1. Still love the first episode. Drake Tribe dominates bartering for items in the town because Rupert stole Morgan Tribe's shoes and Sandra could negotiate with the locals in Spanish.
2. Probst mis-calling the winner of individual immunity at 7 (or was it 8), calling them back as they left and doing a playoff which gave immunity to Darrah instead of Burton/
3. While I didn't like the Outcasts twist, I did like the immunity challenge (a knowledge challenge) at 4 that included the jury so when the Jury won, nobody had immunity.
4. Relevant to this past season, when Osten quit, Probst threw his torch on the ground after he snuffed it, then during the "Fallen Heroes/Torch Ceremony" his was not included and left lying on the beach while the others burned on the Pirate Ship.

Still my favourite season of all time.
Have absolutely no problem with players coming back into the game as a twist at the merge. The outkasts all marching like a scorned army out led by Burton with Skinny Ryans die jerks on his buff was a great tv moment and let to an all time chaotic post merge.
The problem is when players enter the game at final 6 with an idol having spent 2 weeks hanging out with the jury in a none game environment
2 weeks into Australian Survivor so the right time to start my power rankings and lock in my winner prediction based off the edit and game positioning (mostly edit)

Great Season of Surivor AU so far as we head into an unprecedented 14 person merge. Great blend of different characters in big tribes making for a very dynamic and chaotic pre merge. Total opposite of the new era. Though once again let down somewhat by the insanely inbalanced edit.
Unfortunately realised that I had likely whiffed my 'locked in' winner pick at the final 18 one episode later and have had to reluctantly change my number 1 spot from the final 17 onwards

Grunching, but the first two episodes of this season show on my cable guide as being 2 hours long. Yikes. And although my guide won't let me see that far out, I think it'll go back to 90 minutes when Amazing Race debuts on March 13th.

Very strange hybrid game show/reality show.
Dammit, I forgot to record episode 1. Looks like I can still get it on YTTV. Any good?
