CBB Almanac's top 100 players
Almanac All American Teams
I’m not saying Houston is a bad team, because they’re not, and one loss isn’t going to define a team, but the metrics are ****ed up on this one. They do not have the best defense in the country and the only reason why the metrics love them is because they beat the **** out of truly bad teams. Metrics favor a 20 point win over a 200 ranked team vs. a 5 point over top 25ish team. KU has 4 wins this year against top 10 teams, Houston will be ranked above them because Kelvin Sampson is a coward.
Last year, same thing. Houston somehow gets better seeding over KU (and other teams) because the metrics liked Houston’s soft ass schedule. Hopefully this gets ironed out over the course of Big12 play.
I agree Houston won't make it through league play with historically good defensive metrics, but they're 6-3 in league playing 5 road games and zero of those road games are against bottom feeders.
Acting like Houston is in over their heads here strikes me as ludicrous. They're clearly the best team in the B12 when you just look at the first half of conference play. Clearly #1 in defensive efficiency and 4th in Offensive efficiency.
Road Records only
Houston is 2-3 against
Iowa St
TCU
BYU
Texas
Kansas
Kansas is 1-3 against
UCF
Oklahoma St
West Virginia
Iowa St
Another top 10 showdown on the slate.
Vegas already thought Houston was worse than metrics (or that Kansas is better) based on the line yesterday.
That felt like a game between two final four teams.

I’m not saying they’re in over their heads, they’re a good team. The Big12 will grind them down. It’ll probably do them a favor in preparing them for the post season.
I think Houston in the Big XII is more of a "No, you're locked in here with ME" situation but we'll see how the back half of the season unfolds. If only every league could be that competitive and interesting.
Congrats ReddBoiler. Huge Road win there.
houston -1.5 according to vegas, probably like 5 according to power rankings
4ish
probably houston -1 or something if they played tomorrow
As far as transfer portal guys go, I think it’s pretty clear that the biggest winners are UNC with Harrison Ingram and Tennesse with Dalton Knecht. Both have been flat out amazing gets for each team.

Good choices but I'll add some more:
Illinois grabbing Domask and Guerrier was huge.
Wisconsin went from NIT to top 10 team by adding AJ Storr to the exact same roster from a year ago. They do have some nice frosh off the bench as well, but Storr has been a game changer.
Hunter Dickinson Kansas
Max Abmas to Texas (from Oral Roberts)
the Wahoos hold the Canes to their lowest point total ever in an ACC game
38 is rough.
UVA playing a lot better the last few weeks. Blown out by state and wake but have now won 7 in a row.
Going to be a tough one in Charlottesville in a few weeks. We always struggle there. The nice thing is we will have a week off between games for that one.
Kansas is just not a serious contender. Basically have 5 playable players with zero depth. Don't shoot threes. Point guard that's scared to shoot or try to score. Low key a really overrated roster Self put together.

Yep. Just an abortion of a game last night. This team is bipolar and they tend favor the shitty side.

I’ll just add a little bit to this. Self has never been a proponent of 3’s, for whatever stupid reason. McCullar and Furphy are both shooters, they should shoot more. Self loves hi-low so naturally when he has a legit 7’er he wants his offense to run through him, right or wrong. The bench depth never materialized, the starting 5 is pretty good but they get no help. Dejuan Harris may have taken a step back, he reminds me of Aaron Miles who was more of a facilitator. He passes up easy shots (he’s actually not a bad shooter, as ugly as it looks) to make really hard assists and ends up turning it over, it’s annoying as hell. They can make a run but they can’t have an off night.
