What is going on ?

Hey there!

I hope you're doing well.
I wanted to share something with you.
Although I'm not a winning player just yet, I don't want to complain about it. However, something strange has been happening since January 1st, 2024, and I can't quite put my finger on it.

I've been playing poker for years, so I have a good understanding of the game. Last year, around October, I made the decision to take poker more seriously. I started studying and playing almost every day for at least 7 hours.

Things were going great for a few months. I had some deep runs, made it to final tables, and managed to significantly increase my bankroll. But now that 2024 has arrived and I've started playing on January 1st, I feel completely lost. It's hard to explain, but I just can't seem to make any progress.

I'm having trouble connecting my cards with the community cards. Whenever I do, I usually end up with a draw that never gets completed. Or, if I do connect with a strong hand like top pair with a good kicker, a set, or two pair, my opponent always seems to have a draw that they immediately hit on the next street. For example, when I 3-bet with AKs, the flop comes 1098 with different suits. Or when I have AJ on the small blind with only 10 big blinds left and obviously need to shove to the big blind with 35 big blinds, they always wake up with a top range hand. It's frustrating because my pocket pairs always seem to lose as well.Just today and yestreday i recive KK nine times and i win just one of them ..2 times it was vs AA but 6x they cracked.

I don't mean to complain or sound weak, but this has been happening to me for the past two months and I'm really struggling to cope with it. What steps should I take?

And not just crying here thinkink that im the best player who should win everything but it seems really unnatural to me that something like that happening for such a long time ..
Im also watching a alot of people streaming poker and what i see on their deskop and what i going on on mine seems like different game to me.

Also have plenty of photos and videos if anyone would like too see..

There's nothing you can do, since they restarted the LHC the fabric of reality is disintegrating. Bad luck. Maybe you can learn some parallel universe optimal play but prolly not.

Someone spiked your New Year's Eve drink. You know, like the opposite of the Space Jam Secret Stuff drink. You lost all pokerz ability. Enjoy Moron Mountain

The reason is very simple. The magnetic field of the earth is rotating. It's getting a lot worse since the start of 2024.

The movement is attributed to the molten iron and nickel in the Earth's outer core, generating electric currents and creating a magnetic field through a process known as the geodynamo. This process causes the Randon Number Generator to act in an unnatural way.

Please post some photos and videos so we can study the laws of the universe in more depth.

Mercury is in retrograde. Once it passes your luck should turn around

They switched from CRC-32 to CRC-64 error correcting codes for the networking, and these codes are so good that they "correct" (i.e. meddle with) some of the random values.

A serious answer, youre just not running good. You could be running bad, or you just might not be running good. Maybe youre running average or a little less than average but you were running hot before.

Late 22 and early 23 i built up a significant roll and was playing 100nl online regularly and 2/5 live. Then runbad started. I would daily, multiple times a day lose preflop all ins w AA/KK versus underpairs and lose every coinflop AK vs QQ no matter what side i was on. I lost 11 times in a row at one point w overpair vs underpair all in pre. Lost almost all of my roll, took like 6 mos off. Slowly grinding again. It sucks.

Ive been playing more live lately 2/3 but im running bad there too. Im by far the best player at the table but i havent won in 6 sessions. There is another reg that actually isnt very good but he is sun running. He never misses a flop. He calls off 150bb or more pre with AJo dominated and makes a straight or KQo dominated and makes a straight. Never seen anything like it. Very frustrating

You've gone from running good to running bad.

How long is it going to last? Nobody knows: it ends when it ends. Could be tomorrow, could be next month; could be next year.

Welcome to the club.

I have played live and online poker since the Moneymaker boom, loads of up and down variance, some down swings seem to go on and on. and you hear the words online poker is fixed, or at least I hear it alot amongst my live games, I have always said luck good or bad levels itself out after thousands of hands, untill a few days ago when I was involved in a cash game that I won where I had the losing hand. luckily for me I have proof of this its defitely not a 100% pure game online anymore.

what platform are you playing on?

How much of a break have you allowed yourself? At least for me, if I play 3-6 days in a row it seems that I just start losing at the tail end .. so I a break or just sit down and force myself to play an ABC session.

Stats are so important .. I think tournament Players are only supposed to cash 10-15% of the time and then you're really hoping one of those is a big score. I don't think anyone really knows how Allen Kessler does what he does in what appears to be a 'poker only' lifestyle.

If you are putting your chips in at the right time, in the right amount and just running below EV .. that's poker. You HAVE TO accept the fact that mathematically things will eventually turn around.

The hardest part for me is that it seems I run good in the small pots and run bad in the big ones .. so I just play smaller pots now! Credit DNegs? Perhaps, but I know that mentally I can handle a session much better when the swings are smaller. G:

not much. what's going on with you?

Running bad myself right now. I try to play solid poker but right now nothing is working. I miss every draw and it seems when I get the money in good no fold 'em calls off bad but always hits the river. And it's amazing how long one can be card dead. The only thing to do is take time off, clear the brain, and stay patient when returning to the felt.

This happened to me on PokerStars.
I had around 10 sessions which I made my 200£ to 2000£.
Then, suddenly I started losing every bloody monster hand or the villians made nuts with ridicoulous calls to bad prices.
I believe this is about online poker sites protection or profit mechanisms for themselves. I don’t think it is just a bad luck.
As a result, I stopped playing online and am back to cash games.

Play cash games and see it is still happening. I’d not assume..

Looks like you're hitting a rough spot with poker, which happens to a lot of players, especially those who play as much as you do. Going over your past games could show you if it's just bad luck or maybe something in your game plan needs a little adjustment. Also, staying positive, not letting losses get you down, and making sure you're not betting more than you can afford can really help. Sometimes, just taking a little break can give you a fresh look at things.

So many rivers that should have been folded.

ok so after some time off i decide that is time to try my luck again .. But guess what

This is just a quick example from last couple of days and those are mostly big pots and i dont even bother screenshoting all stupid spots im in..
I do understand very well that i cant win all of my hands even when im ahead and im fine whit that ,but that i can keep losing spot when im 70/30 tournament after tournament .
If anyone would like to see my hand history more detailed im more than happy to share it ..
Maybe im just not for online poker ?

Please show an ev and bb / 100 graph and not nit picked hands

Can you help me do that beacuse everytime i try in holdem manager i get some errors ?

I had the same problem with online MTTs. i was something like 7mil chips below EV, to the point where i quit for a significant period of time.

take my advice, spend some time studying 100bb poker and switch to cash. it's not as thrilling but the variance is way less soul destroying and you can make a nice consistent income from it

Judging by the way you played those hands you may actually be the worst poker player I've ever seen.

I'll explain why: if your equity is 87% pre and you lose it doesn't matter: you suck. I'll tell you one story; one that regs wouldn't want you to know, but the true way to win at poker is developping a "sense of winning". Forget everything you know about poker. Next time you're dealt AA try to visualize the flop before it comes: if the flop's bad then fold pre.
I know it sounds crazy but this is how literally every HS player wins: they have developped the ability to know what will come and act accordingly.
You'd also do well trying to imagine your opponent's cards but that requires years -probably decades- of training and it's well above my paygrade.
