THE Official 2024 PGA Tour Season Thread

I don't have a fancy OP or anything. But now that we are in 2024, and are back to calendar schedules instead of the reach-around schedule, its time for a new thread.

Lol, over sold tickets, had to end alcohol sales, drunk people yelling, sliding around in mud and jumping in sand traps. Billy Ho and ZJ yelling at fans. Watch whatever you want, nobody cares but this week has been an embarrassment/disaster for the PGAT, no good players are going to play in this next season.

This tournament was a complete disaster.

Weather is always a crapshoot in this event. Thursday AM starters lost what, 2.5 shots compared to the PM starters? Frost usually costs 60-90 minutes, and it happens a lot.

Is this event limited to 120 players? If not perhaps they should consider it.

Lol this stings. Had about 200k on Nick Taylor at the Sony. 1st, 4th, and 5th going into R4 of the Farmers. Sahith to start the morning. It’s been a bs month as far as I’m concerned.

Who the fk put you in charge of this thread? All real, and all ended up not winning anyways so whatever. Been a rage month though. Kitayama did the same to me last year. Had about 200k on him one week, got pissed at him and said fk this dude and 2 weeks later wins the API at long odds. So goes golf gambling.

In my humble opinion posts focused upon golf betting do not belong in this thread. 2+2 has a dedicated Sports Betting forum. In addition I am sure it would be fine if you wanted to start a separate golf betting thread in this forum.

The sports betting forum died years ago. I figured discussing the PGA Tour and ranting about guys winning or not winning us money might be appropriate here. I guess not. I didn’t see Ligastar constantly posting live round odds updates as a problem. It only was once some tard thought I was frauding on losses of all things. Lol.

It will be interesting to see which pros skip the WMO next year. There had to at least be a few of them thinking that they wouldn't have to put up with that circus at LIV.

I’m all for a betting thread here and I actually thought one was started a couple years ago but perhaps not. One condition though, all bets discussed must be posted here beforehand. No gloating or moaning Sunday night with no posted evidence.

Think there’s serious inefficiencies in the market and pretty easily taken advantage of.

Fair enough but I just like to pop in here every once in a blue moon. Posting picks has always been for idiots.

It will be interesting to see which pros skip the WMO next year. There had to at least be a few of them thinking that they wouldn't have to put up with that circus at LIV.

1. All of LIV is a circus.

2. Most pros love coming to Phoenix.

3. The stodgy golf media being so sanctimonious as if this event was really all that bad. I know it was probably worse than usual because of the weather, but the weather is never even close to being this bad.

4. Any pro that went to the tournament and complained needs to STFU. You know what this tournament is. Complain if something actually bad happens.

And somebody always rolls down a hill, jumps in the water, etc every single year. 99.9% of people behave just fine there. We don't need this to be another random tour event. The Thunderbirds have done a great job building this up. Haters can just not watch if they have a problem.

The real problems are this was not the best WMPO because of all the weather delays and how the PGA Tour absolutely sucks with their coverage. All of these other "problems" aren't actual problems and ignore the real problems week in and week out.

Seems like normal golf shots to me by players wearing shorts, more coverage of golf shots, music in the background, and graphics that need major improvement. Outside of that LIV is a pretty solid product for just year 2 in, and all the players seem happy with the money, laid back international schedule, and team atmosphere along with the fans partying. That’s just my opinion and most of the top players are going to be there eventually so everybody will have to learn to get used to it.

Listened to PGA Tour radio this week and consensus there is WM has gone beyond the limit. Not much in the way of offering solutions tho.

Nah people that get butthurt about it is for idiots. Trying to past post without any ability to screen shot said winners is fair game to hate on. Losing picks, wow you’re kind of sad to worry about those.

The only other time I've heard weather used as an excuse for getting drunk and crazy was at a hurricane party. My neighbor is a cop, I'll have to ask him if he's ever pulled someone over for DUI and had them use the weather as an excuse. "I'm sorry officer, we've had an unusual amount of rain the last few days...."

That's a pretty awful take. Do you really not understand how bad weather contributed to the problems, or are you just trying to be edgy?

The weather absolutely is the factor here. They had to close walkways and then there was plenty of time with golf not being played so people could keep buying alcohol because of the down time.

And then you probably had more people deciding to go on Saturday because they didn't want to be out in the rain. Do people really think that this year people suddenly just got worse? If that were to happen it would've happened last year when the SB was there or in 2022 after COVID. It's so obviously the weather.

So 21st century to blame the weather.

I don't think the organizers will rely on that explanation when they go forward with 2025 WM planning.

It was a great example of why alcohol shouldn't be sold at sporting events.

Tiger being carted in, looks like another WD. Don't know why yet. Frustrating and sad.

Let's blame it on Phoenix weather. 😃

update - reportedly has an illness

shat the seat of his sun day red

With my Sherlock Holmes hat on, I speculate he took too much of something that gave him nausea. I won't speculate on what that something might be.

Wonder if anybody has most recent X years stats on # of players WDing due to illness.

I wish someone could illuminate Gary Woodland that putting 3 footers constantly with speed to go 4 feet past is probably not optimal speed, even with germinating poa greens.

Dang...was looking for a Spieth over Woods last longer wager 😀

Wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. After complaining of back spasms the day before. But it's also not like he was blowing up, you would also think he'd have the dosage pretty dialed in by now.
