Joseph Heller still dead, still at 76 (and other celebrity deaths): RIP Hank Aaron and Willie Mays
When an interviewer told Mr. Heller that he had never written anything as good as ''Catch-22,'' the author shot back, ''Who has?''
Navalny.

Hope Moscow does what Budapest is doing right now
god he was so funny...I remember really liking his sitcom, Anything But Love, with Jamie Lee Curtis. He only made fun of himself, never anyone else. RIP.
He was a great foil for Larry David. Would have loved to have sat in on a real life discussion with those two.
You know, I hate to see these people dying who are not much older than I am. I need to get my affairs in order.

heard the best time to get a will done is before finally
my family tree can be diagrammed as an upside down carrot
clear path of legal connection with no kids
spouse>brother>sneezes>charity
but the intent is to spend it all while living
will you?
I've been trying. Probably would go faster if I spent more on myself.

Good luck, John. It doesn't have to be complicated or expensive; places like Staples will sell you what's basically a "fill in the blanks" document. Get it notarized, store it somewhere safe but accessible to your heirs, and off you go.
Red's point is well taken about spending the money. Don't be the richest person in the graveyard. Money unspent is life unlived.
(Credit to the Retirement and IRA show for the above ideas.)
Fortunately, one of my best friends is a lawyer, so he won't charge me for a will. Besides, I will leave whatever I don't spend to my daughter who will split it with my son.

If you ensure that any accounts or investments you have, have a designated beneficiary, that keeps them out of probate (and thus the county won't get their rake).
At least in WI. Your friend will know your situation and the laws there of course.

I happened to stumble over two of the actors talking about some of the actors and how it was playing themselves. They mentioned Richard Lewis and how he was so much more "Richard Lewis" off the set than on. Apparently he was pretty subdued on screen but a little off the rails off.
I don't have anything to leave anyone.
what if
for the sake of discussion
every person was magically able to survive
their shelter, sustenance, and health support
unbound from servitude to the next paycheck
will that change your attitude
about the inherent problem of hand me downs
benefiting nary a probate barrister
Dom,
i'll remember you and I won't be alone in that. I always liked your joy of life, and this poem is one I will think applies so well to you, and I will read it with sadness in your memory when [strike]I outlive you[/strike] you have passed.
"An honest man here lies at rest,
As e’er God with His image blest:
The friend of man, the friend of truth;
The friend of age, and guide of youth:
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,
Few heads with knowledge so inform’d:
If there’s another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this."
Rabbie Burns
Lol thanks, Guys. That was very sweet and you made me teary. I wasn't really feeling bad or anything, just being truthfully funny.
And yes, two AVAs. They came with the STDs.
