What’s the softest day of the main?

Assume you mean which Day 1? Definitely 1D. Lots of pros in 1A & 1B, more recish in 1C and especially 1D. But it might be more fun, advantageous to play earlier flights due to days off, smaller crowds, etc. But as with any tournament, it all depends on table draw, you can get rec-heaven on 1A and table of doom on 1D just as easy. With field that large, massive luck factor on the table draw.

Whichever day I play, I'll keep you posted!

Lol

Day 1, Fourteen hours of late registration? Really?

Huh?

A) no blinds in BP, everybody pays ante
B) stalling still an issue, bc it’s a big advantage to be on the button in the BP

No idea how they are doing it at wsop, but I hope they’ll implement something clever like for example a second button that goes around and determines who is button for the BP (so that it’s fair). That’s how it’s done at Kings

This is what they should do so they probably won't.

I haven't seen this be a big problem in cash games, although I have seen people sit out of bomb pots then when it's their button magically want to play and I always call them out on it.

Unfortunately i have to agree on that ... way too smart for WSOP :-)

thats usually the same guys that min buy in, object to a round of straddles and play VPIP sub 10% ... hehe

but anyways:
the way its played now sucks ... very misleading to call it a BP tourney at all when it's only 1/8

I kind of like it. Think it will be a fun one to play. Basically ROE tourney with bomb pot every 8 hands

i know this is a long shot, but......

i'm looking for 1 or more players who may be driving to/from WSOP 2024 from texas and wanting to stay around 2 weeks or so. i am driving out there due to fear of flying & medical issues, and need another person(s) to drive with. i (42m) will be staying with a buddy of mine (25m), at horseshoe. we are chill, no partying on the strip, no slots/pits, just focus on poker during trip like real poker junkies. we have gone for a few years now and really enjoy the series. mostly cash players, with some tournaments mixed in. if you want to room with us, that would make it cheaper for everyone (if not, that's cool).

i have made the drive for many years now. it's a 2-day drive, ~10 hours per day. but maybe can make it a super long 1-day drive with myself and 1 or 2 more people to split driving. obviously we would need to meet beforehand, make sure we get along. will be using my vehicle (roomy, nice 4-door truck). i will eat most gas expenses, since this would primarily be accommodating me.

right now, looking at leaving ~May 29-returning ~June 12. but can be flexible. PM me if interested. looking to get booked soon.

Huh?

Read the structure sheet. Late registration is available for the main event is available until the end of level 7, which means if you swing that way you can wait until the last minute on your pick of Day 2s and sit down with 50 bigs at the start of the next level.

Late entering Day 2A-B-C will give you a break before Day 3; entering Day 2D gives you both the softer Day 1D field and the dead money from all four flights' bustouts padding the EV of your entry.

It basically lets people trade away the opportunity to build up bigger stacks in the soft starting field for cutting off a day and a half from the grueling two-week marathon plus the overlay from the bustouts' dead money.

How to ensure you could max late reg D without missing out?

Register before the end but don't go to the late reg line until the end

So basically everyone is just paying 1 big blind to see the flop on the bomb pots? This actually seems like a pretty reasonable structure to me and could be pretty fun as long as they do something to prevent angleshooting the bomb pot position. I had though most bomb pot antes were like 5x the BB, which make the bomb pots way too disproportionately important.

well, structure says "everybody pays one ante in BP", so it only makes sense when this is the ante according to the level that is currently played.

but, its 8 BB total then, and people totally overplay their hands usually, so pots still gonna be very big and those hands will be important for the outcome of the whole tourney imo

PS: if its a success (meaning, lots of entries), i hope they will have the courage to do a "full BP tourney only" next year ;-) ... i already had that bracelet counted in for me, but with this structure i might only get second or so ... hehe ...

Sorry obviously I’m thick, are you saying it’s like you can reg, but then you go to the “late reg” line, to say oh I’m here see I’m regged? If your already regged do you not just get blinded out or do you need to say hey I’m here, thanks heaps.

When you late-reg at the cage or kiosk, usually you won’t get a specific table/seat. It’ll just say some variation of “late”. You then take your reg receipt to the “late” desk on the tourney floor and they give you your starting stack of chips along with your seat card which was just turned in from a recently busted player.

First WSOP, I take it?

Not sure how it works on day 2 on the main event but so long as you register after the start of the day 2 flight you're playing you should be fine and not blinded off. I'd guess you'd be fine either way so long as you register after the start of day 1 flight you're playing, though.

Thanks for responses, not first, but it’s been a while.

In my case, I am Seven Stars and can jump the registration line. (This also works for the juicy cash games in the Kings Lounge.)

Has anyone heard anything about the $1,000,000 tournament of champions freeroll?

I don't see it on the schedule, and I will be disappointed if they did away with it. I was told I would be getting an invitation when I won a circuit event.

If I were you, I'd tell myself they canceled the event cause they knew I was gonna clean up shop easy.

From the WSOP release: "Details on the date and location for the WSOP Circuit season-ending Tournament of Champions will be announced by March 15."
