General TV Discussion and Thread for Shows Without A Thread Thread
OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of NBC)comedies on tv yet no threads.
Just an observation.
I stuck with Constellation and I'm glad I did...now that there's a scientific explanation for what's happening, I'm enjoying it a lot more.
Based on your post, especially regarding The Bureau (I loved it)...here are a few recs (if you have seen some, your opinion would be appreciated):
Pagan Peak
Dead Mountain
Pachinko
Wolf Hall
Babylon Berlin
Billie & Billie
Umbre
I Hate Suzie
Snabba Cash
El Marginal
This Way Up
The Mechanism
Zero Zero Zero
Blinded By The Lights (Polish)
Kingdom (Korean)
Zero*3 I loved.
Kingdom I watched a few episodes and while I didn't dislike it, I didn't finish it so either I got bored or just stumbled upon something else. Not sure. El Marginal, same thing.
This Way Up, I hate Suzie and Billie and Billie dont strike me as things I would like, but I am willing to venture out and try them.
All the rest look like amazing recommendations and I think right now I am most intrigued by Blinded By The Lights, Umbre, Dead Mountain. Not sure which one I will try first but once I watch I will give you feedback.
On the whole, tyvm as this appears to be a very, very solid list based off of IMDB synopsis.

Thanks for checking into them. It's true that the ones you cite may not appeal, they definitely are far from the others in every way. I like dense serious shows but also a few quirky comedies too.
Enjoy! Cheers.

Umbre is really good, but I wouldn't watch it unless you speak Romanian.
I was curious to see how accurate the translation is and turned on the subtitles and it's pretty bad.
It's hard to translate slang, and it's the dialog that makes that show so damn good.

Watched first episode of Umbre and while I liked it enough to go back and rewatch I decided instead to dive into Blinded By The Lights as it is much shorter and I will be taking a media fast starting 4/1.
First episode of BBTL was really good and I am glad it was recommended.
If you do learn Romanian, I've been watching Spy/Master, which is good but a bit hard to follow at times as they bounce between speaking Romanian, English, German, and Russian, and the subtitles didn't say which language it was.
Opinions on some decent European TV series:
Blinded by the Lights Polish urban nightlife drug gangster show, like Gomorrah (TV series) also with tremendous cinematography and artful style and interesting characters and strong villains but way too many torture scenes for me . grade B+
The Break (Belgium) police whodunit , interesting lead character, I even liked S2 which many people disliked, A-.
The Border (Wataha) (The Pack) A group of Polish border police trying to solve all sorts of crimes along the Ukraine border forest. Beautiful outdoor cinematography made it worth watching along with a few quirky characters. S2>S1 Storyline , grade B , but more relevant these days.
Halfway through Totems on Amazon. Really enjoying it. Good spy/foreign intel show. Mostly in French so need subs.
I never know what TV thread to post in but Shogun is top tier television
there is a shogun thread. but I make like 90% of the posts lol
First episode of the Gentleman was good. Those who've done it all, what did you think?

Putting in a plug for Babylon Berlin. Excellent 3 season show that needed a s4 but ended up being a victim of the pandemic.
Worth the journey.

But there was a 4th season, just not for USA#1. I found the 1st 6 episodes with English subs, but not the rest.
the gentlemen an easy watch until the end

Also a victim of the new head of content at Netflix (or whatever her title is). Netflix recently removed it.
Season 4 has been in circulation in Europe for a while, with more to follow. But USA viewers are screwed, unless you own a DVD player that plays that format.
It is so unfortunate. I've seen all 3 seasons three times. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

Well, that's annoying.

i am going to start BB tonight.
just finished blinded by the lights.
i give it a 6.5
good music. decent dialogue. a little too artsy at times. good portrayal of people who are sociopaths. those who are triggered by either extreme violence or cruelty to animals (only one scene with the animal but despite it ending up okay in the end it was still jarring) may want to skip.
i do have a question that contains spoilers that maybe you can chime in on.
The funniest thing I've seen on tv in a long time
Nsfw
Wife wanted to watch Apples Never Fall as she had read the book. Dreadful first episode...borderline unwatchable

I think the writers left it up to the viewer. We know he was thoroughly exhausted and burned out from all of it, so in that moment, who knows?
I enjoyed the stylistic artsy aspects myself. The intro sequence alone is notable, and of course his reveries of himself with her at the pool/resort.
The violence at times was a bit much. and I was not a fan of the little dog scene, but they were depicting horrible people, so kudos to them for not shying away.
My favorite sequence of all was early on with the newly released convict in the car. That was spectacular.
BB is on an entirely other tier for sure. It is one of the best shows I've ever watched. I hope you enjoy it too!

I’m over halfway through the season and it’s not bad. Stacked cast kept me watching after the first episode. Will most likely finish it tonight and forget all about it tomorrow lol
I was turned onto a nice site for finding stuff to watch...
