Survivor: GENERAL THREAD
I wanted to post something Survivor related but realized there's no general thread about Survivor. Each thread is about a particular season or votes for hottest, best, etc.
Given that who knows when/if the show will come back, here's a general thread to post all things Survivor.
I won't ruin the OP with my content post, so it will come next.
Enjoy and come on in guys!
That guy really needs therapy.
I'm embarrassed that they gave him that much airtime
“Parent Coach” is an excellent fake job
Looks like Mo shaved they/them’s moustsache with the machete
If denying flint to the losers is at all contributing to these disaster-tribe scenarios, they need to stop doing it.
Might be the most annoying contestant ever.
Cast and season should get better now with Bhanu gone. That was a massive drain.
Saw on Twitter that Bhanu had more confessionals in his short stint this season than Parv had her entire winning season in Micronesia. Survivor really is ruined.
Venus’s hometown is a place called Goochland, Virginia lol
Bhanu ruining all his tribe mates games before leaving lol
So I had a proper look and Bhanu got 35 confessionals across 4 episodes.
This is more than;
Parvati - 32
Bob Crowley - 31
Natalie White - 15
Sandra (hvv) - 27
Sophie Clark - 28
Chris underwood - 23
And just slightly less than;
Vercepia 38
Fabio -40
Denise - 37
Erika - 39
He also ruined my excitement of watching each week.
He's the kind of person atheists point at when they disdain religious people - constantly asking his god for this pattern:
completely screws up through no one's fault but his own - "just give me one little break" - gets repeated miracles to benefit him - immediately screws up even more through no fault of his own - "just give me one little break, just this one time only" - continues to screw up to the point that even god can't help him now - "I hate god for not loving me".
Yeah, Bhanu can fade off into Survivor obscurity as a joke for this season and now we can focus on actual gameplay, because so far this season has seriously sucked.
Has Tim even had one confessional? He definitely hasn't over the past two episodes, and he even beasted the immunity competition. I was saying to my girlfriend watching that I have literally never seen someone get zero confessional airtime, so I'm wondering if that means something happens to him that production didn't like.
Hunter showing that practice pays off, and I'm assuming that he's going to comp beast his way through once individual immunity hits. Gotta say I'm rooting for him, although as a white male there's no way he has a chance to win anymore in CBS world.
Hopefully they at least absorb purple into the other two tribes to make them even for one episode, especially since they all know what's going on in that tribe. I can't see them merging at 14 but having at least two 7 versus 7 weeks would be much better than what we have now.
As absolutely horrible as Bhanu was, we need to blame the editors more. There was no reason they needed to show him that much. What a failure.
They were just trying to slam in as much content as they could knowing he’d be eliminated early.
Unfortunately, we had to endure an extra week of it than necessary. But can you imagine if Q/Tiff actually voted out Kinzie the week prior? lol

Bang on the money. A straight white male hasn't won a Survivor season since... 3 seasons ago

I have a little sympathy for them. Neither of the other tribes have to scramble, and all the immunity idols this year require you to actually lose before you can progress. As a result, it's hard to really show anything happening in the other tribes because none of them have that spark of going to tribal to cause the chaos necessary for interesting things to happen.
So they kind of have to focus on purple and they're trying to show Kenzie stuff or Tiff stuff or Q stuff, but Bhanu just sucked all the oxygen out of that tribe.
There is no universe where Babu is on the island acting like this and the editors just choose not to show it
One theory is that we've seen even less of the yellow and green tribes strategic content because this is going to be a very fluid post merge with a lot of cross tribal alliances. So any real strategic content from those two tribes is even less relevant than it might be on most seasons.
The Bhanu fiasco and focus underscores why 90 minute episodes are a net negative. Yes, maybe for a few episodes around merge time you get a bit more strategy; however, early on and toward the end it's filler like this.
And again a "healthy" food reward. I posted about this last season and some did say that contestants have mentioned that junky food seems so amazing until you have to deal with the after effects. But that had to have been happening for many years; yet only starting with last season the food rewards became less total caloric feasts each and every time, and I wonder if it's another top down edict.

The problem is three tribes. Game play never really starts until you need to vote somebody out. No matter how hard the try, with tribes of six there will always be one that is clearly inferior physically. And you end up with all the air time being spent on that tribe.

If editors/production had half a brain, perhaps they should have done dual boot eps early in the season. We could've got through all this lol purple in 2 eps rather than 4.
Much less Bhanu, much more enjoyable.
Then later in the season when it's meant to be a double boot ep, perhaps it's a much more interesting spot and they are able to drag the eps out longer.

This. With two nine person tribes there is an automatic 5-4 feel and strategy hits right away rather than wasting episodes booting out one tribe over and over again. Hopefully they realize this and go back to it, because it was much better.

Doesn't look good for the later season
