OK. Test results are back and unfortunately have indicated a fairly serious condition that will require intervention and many months of recovery and follow up. I prefer to just leave it at that as far as details.

So I am stepping down effective immediately as a mod in all the subforums I currently mod. I have notified Bobo and the other mods. As a parting gift I have lifted mets ban today. I'm not going to waste any time or energy now debating anything about it (or any other mod issues or policies). I am making a clean break with modding after this post.

Situation permitting, I hope to be able to lurk or post from time to time as a regular poster. I continue to believe that the upcoming year will be one of the most politically and socially significant years for the US in decades. I am old enough to clearly remember how divided things were in 1968, and havent seen such division since then until now. So I think there will be lots to talk about in the future.

Best of luck to all of you. I enjoyed our exchanges (even with those who saw things very differently than I did) and will miss them.

Browser has never said a word about what his job actually involved. It could have been researching the effects of 24 hour exposure to Cindi Lauper music for all I know- and my suspicion is that it is something more along those lines than the sort of psy-ops I discuss.

We planned and executed strategic, operational and tactical psyop campaigns around the world. You could have more experience than me, but statistically speaking it's unlikely. 😉

ganstaman and I will try and deal with the most egregious stuff in the immediate term. But neither one of us has much free time at the moment. And speaking only for myself, I don't want this job. Whatever I do will be on an interim basis and I will be eager to step back as soon as practicable.

I mention this mainly to emphasize that ganstaman and I will not be reading the forum in real time for the next several days and almost certainly will be unable to keep up if people decide to act like total jackasses. And that will be true no matter how much people complain about moderation.

Please keep that in mind because this is one of those times where the entire subforum could be at risk if there is some sort of meltdown.
