Hm wow Trump goes allin in favor of Israeli response to the terrorist attacks, against the most radical part of his base.
Very curious if the alt-maga radicals will follow here, or Trump will fold later to their victor-like positions

Who are the radical part of his base that would disagree with this statement?
The alt right pro Putin truly antisemitic people, their Twitter is one of the worst twitters, same people who are happy republican senators are blocking aid to Israel and Ukraine and so on.
And in general the autarchich anti-interventionists who think the USA shouldn't deal with stuff far away from the Americas.

And you think alt-right Twitter is going to force Trump to walk back the statements he gave? I am not saying you are wrong; but I am not aware of any part of his base that would challenge that statement in such a way that it would force him to walk it back, and I cant even imagine how that would happen.

Not force, if they react heavily he would simply back track the comment or add another opposite comment, kinda like what he did with abortion when he tried to be a moderate in it and the base went crazy.
How it happens is accounts with 100k+ followers, and really active feeds start calling trump a Zionist or something like that, and he gets pushed around on truth social as well by his own people.
Btw that's close to the same trump voters who mocked and insulted him a lot when he bragged about the accomplishments of his WARP vax program

I understand there is a faction of the party that is pro Putin/Russia; but I am not aware of any segment of the Republican base that would argue Israel shouldn't have responded as they have to the October 7 massacre/kidnappings by the Palestinians, or would call out Trump for saying Israel's response was reasonable. But we shall see I guess.
thats funny bc Trump just said this which, while pretty mealymouthed, is much further than Joe Biden ever went.
but Trump says a lot of things. no one should really care what he says.
As opposed to the nutcases that believe the rocks and trees will start talking to help them kill Jews?
You're right man, can't hold the place to a higher standard. You're a product of your environment I guess.
But they had the happiest countries in the world list come out recently. I want to say Israel was top 5? For sure top ten.

Pretty sure Tucker Carlson position on Israel is very similar to that of victor
I highly doubt that
no one should really care what Tucker says either

Do you think the current dynamic of holding Israel to a higher standard (which I guess involves ridiculing their religion) and holding Palestinians to absolutely no standard is working out well? I would say it is not working out particularly well.
The UN Security Council has called for an "immediate ceasefire" in Gaza, after the US did not veto the measure in a shift from its previous position.
The resolution also demands the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.
Up until now, the Council had failed to agree on calling for a ceasefire since the war began in October.
The move by the US signals growing divergence between it and its ally Israel over Israel's offensive in Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the decision enabling the resolution to pass marked a retreat from the country's original position, according to a statement released by his office.
It also says he decided to cancel meetings between an Israeli delegation and US officials in Washington that were scheduled for this week.
The US abstained from the vote, while the remainder of the council's 15 members voted in favour.
doesnt seem to require Israel to release their hostages.
and I do wonder how many hostages Hamas has left. I thought it was almost all military. so they should be called POWs.
The resolution, UNSCR 2728, calls for an immediate ceasefire for the duration of Ramadan and also for the unconditional release of all hostages, but does not make one conditional on the other (which the Israelis are annoyed about). It also requires 'the lifting of all barriers to the provision of humanitarian assistance at scale,' which the Israelis probably don't like either because it counters their starvation policy. The US, diplomatically, claims it abstained because there isn't a clause condemning Hamas. In reality the resolution has unprecedented, if tacit, US agreement.

Although Netanyahu claims a planned Israeli delegation to Washington this week is off (he appears to be huffing and quite possibly also puffing with indignation), the White House spokesman says that in fact a meeting between the US national security adviser and the Israeli defence minister will go ahead.
The Israelis are now in quite a difficult position if they proceed with the assault on Rafah and if they keep blocking aid.
Israel has 2000+ Palestinian hostage/torture victims. With a 99.7% conviction rate and 300+ people being held without seeing a judge or a charge, life is terrible for many Palestinians
