2024 NFL Off-season Thread
:(
You can carry in Texas but permitless carry has only been around a few years. These guys may think they are living the thug-life because they are carrying without a permit, not knowing that it's completely legal.
Rice is being represented by none other than Royce West, a Texas State Senator. The Hunts also have deep ties in Texas. Nothing to see here.
i'm sure it's no coincidence rice and royce are pronounced more as the same word in certain parts of the world
Bill Connelly has a piece up today where he breaks down statistical comps for six QBs that will be drafted next month

Thats gotta cost big money for an elected official. No way Hunt family pays anything. I bet they give 0 f's.
we haven't talked much (at all?) about Aaron Donald retiring
not much to argue about given I'd guess 100% agreement on HOF and goaty type creds as a DT and DL.
I do think it's noteworthy though that he's walking away from $30m to play one more year. Yes he's earned $160m already, no doubt along with some endorsement money but that is still SOMUCHMONEY to say no to and I'd bet there'll be a kid, grandkid, great grandkid down the track who wishes he'd kept playing for one more year
Wedding update: now fighting with the venue
I have been sent an invoice for 5700. Among the bill: a $330 bottle of Tito’s, $600 for tequila shots (apparent they will argue an open bar is not as open as you would think), $1400 for broken plates/glasses (I sent back the video of their staff breaking a table trying to set up before the ceremony and in the email said ‘I’m going to ignore the rest of this bullshit just based on you think I’m going to pay for your staff’s incompetence’😉 and my personal favorite, $2000 to cleanup the (orgy) bathroom
Wife has no idea this is happening. My mad is big
semen on the ceiling?
You gotta get some girls liquored up before they will do it in the bathroom with some guy they've never seen before. Go figure!
eta: And if you had listened to your mother-in-law, you could have saved yourself most of that 2k. Let that be a lesson to you, young man!
I'd stick around another year for 30 mill. Well lets be honest 3 million and I risk death

IME booking open bars, the venue makes you clarify which particular drinks/brands are included in the open bar, and if someone orders something out of those choices or the preset amount you paid for the open bar is exhausted, they will screw you quite hard on all the extras
DM me the name of the place and I'll gladly go break $1400 worth of their plates and glasses in your honor
I would have figured incidentals were included in the base price.

When people book our bar for a private event we offer multiple drink packages. Soft drinks, beer and wine are always included, shots absolutely never. If you're willing to pay for a shot of vodka instead of drinking the vodka tonic that's included in your drink package, that's fine with us.
In NFL news, looks like Carson Wentz is interested in winning another Superbowl without playing.

Unless SRM agreed to run a tab separate to the drinks package, it’s hard for the additional non-covered, over the bar drinks to be on him, no?
Like, if I was him I’d be trying to find out who it was and suggest they reach out to and settle up with the venue but ultimately they/their staff ****ed up but giving out drinks that weren’t covered?
Or am I missing sth?
+1 unless srm was hungover or melted more **** in his oven when the venue explained their open bar policy, it seems very strange that they would have extra costs to open bar that's not borne by the people ordering top shelf stuff. i have it at 80/20 that the orgy party was responsible for all three overages.
donald retiring seems right. living in california with an agent he's only netting 40% of that salary figure. CTE is cumulative. it's probably frustrating playing when you're falling off your peak. rough for rams though, expect them to regress.

I don't know what the legal requirements are but it certainly feels wrong if they didn't talk to him about that before the event. Our prepayment invoice specifically states which drinks are included and we let the customer know their options regarding extra stuff.
The majority of our events are corporate and people usually act accordingly. Late last year we had a startup celebrating their extremely successful seed A round. They already booked the biggest package we offer and roughly 50 guests still managed to add over 200 shots. I wasn't there but apparently the evening ended with shirtless people dancing on the bar counter. Had to pay each employee an extra 200€ to make up for that. Shots are good for business but bad for everything else.
