Covid-19 Discussion

Covid-19 Discussion

Has the wisdom and courage to realize that the cure has now become worse than the disease. It's time to open up. Stop moving the ball.

Hospital systems have not been overwhelmed.

Ventilators are not in shortage.

Treatments are being developed.

There is no cure or vaccine. This is not going away for four years.

The devastation of the cure:

Suicide rates picking up.
Massive economic devastation which causes depression, anxiety, obesity, again increase in suicide rates and directly impacts poorer economic areas.
Alcohol sales up 51%.
Domestic Abuse on the uprise
Child abuse on the uprise.
Hospitals that do not have COVID related issues are forced to lay off doctors and nurses as there are not enough patients to economically support it, meaning they won't have the staff to deal with COVID outbreaks.
Michael Avenatti gets released from prison

We all did our part. We sheltered (here in Pennsylvania for 5 weeks already).

Open the office buildings. Open the hair saloons. Get rid of stupid mask laws.

Continue to monitor outbreaks and in areas hospital systems become threatened, reenact tougher guidelines.

LET'S GET BACK TO WORK!

And stop shaming people that want common sense solutions. Waiting for a vaccine is stupid and unpractical.

what is your background to claim what the scientifical consensus was in March 2020? NBC news?

I am married to an immunologist.

OMG, I'm quoting washoe.

GBD doesn't count because it's tens of thousands of experts who disagreed with leftist yes.

even if some of them where professors in ivy league universities, that ceases to matter when you disagree with the International left

GBD doesn't matter because it was a few qualified people and thousands of people so laughably far out of their lanes it was embarrassing (or just completely faked). And you are correct, it doesn't matter that some of them were professors in ivy league universities unless they were trained in a few very specific medical fields. (spoiler: nope)

And, more importantly, it was wrong. Don't forget its stated goal was herd immunity, which is really only practically achievable via high vaccination levels. It was trivial to demonstrate to be wrong then and it's even more obvious now that it was completely wrong.

Some fun info about the signatories of that mess:

While the authors' website claims that over 14,000 scientists, 40,000 medical practitioners, and more than 800,000 members of the public signed the declaration, this list—which anyone could sign online and which required merely clicking a checkbox to claim the status of "scientist"—contains some evidently-fake names, including: "Mr Banana Rama", "Harold Shipman", and "Prof Cominic Dummings". More than 100 psychotherapists, numerous homeopaths, physiotherapists, massage therapists, and other non-relevant people were found to be signatories, including a performer of Khoomei—a Mongolian style of overtone singing—described as a "therapeutic sound practitioner". An article in The Independent reported that the false signatures put claims about the breadth of support in doubt. Bhattacharya responded by saying that the authors "did not have the resources to audit each signature," and that people had "abused our trust" by adding fake names.

This was, of course, widely reported at the time, but it seems to have escaped the notice of some people, for some reason.

For those interested, there was a very clear and correct counter written just after this called the John Snow Memorandum, which was supported by far more qualified experts, and which, it so happens, turns out to have been completely correct.

I am married to an immunologist.

care to link what her sources claiming consensus in favour of lockdowns were?

what was the literature agreeing with lockdowns, agreeing with military enforced stay at home as net-beneficial for Public health during an epidemy of a novel airborne disease.

My wife's background was not related at all to lockdowns. That would be other sciences.

not healing unless we make sure it can't happen again.

otherwise we are just one bullshit away from doing it again.

states should ban stay at home orders constitutionally, the FDA and CDC have to be dismantled and so on.

and Europe is in an even worse place

It's not happening again and mostly because we nearly went broke doing it last time. Look at how much Canada / USA government has to pay out in interest on the national debt vs tax receipts. The national debt vs GDP and the national debt interest payments as a % of tax receipts has never been this high. When there is another large recession for the USA and the tax receipts fall with it, the deficit will further explode and US government will be forced to print even more money / issue more debt. Issue too much currency and you never control inflation and inflation can spiral again.

Common folk today know how stupid it was, back then they just all went along. We could have locked the olds down and put restrictions in place for their caretakers + alleviate financial burden by supplementing the incomes of poor olds and caretakers. That is apparently a bridge too far, and it was mentally easier to just order mass lockdowns for everyone. We wasted trillions globally because of mental laziness and pure cowardness.

It's a lot like the German citizens during WW2, they just went along with it. Once they woke up to the insanity and had years to contemplate, they changed.

I care.

A new study found that states with a higher percentage of Republican voters are seeing more reports of adverse side effects from COVID-19 vaccines.

The study published in the JAMA medical journal looked at 620,456 vaccine adverse events reported to the federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) from adults 18 and older.

Researchers separately looked for three outcomes: rates of adverse events among vaccine recipients, rates of any severe adverse effects among this group and the proportion of adverse events reported as severe.

They found that a 10 percent increase in state-level Republican voting was linked to increased odds of adverse event reports. This relationship between political inclination and reports of adverse events was comparatively not seen when it came to flu vaccines.

That's called the nocebo effect and is as real as placebo is.

With insight we would be all billionaires .
In your expert opinion , what was the chance covid could have mutate in a more damaging variant ?

Ursula Von der Leyen is under criminal investigation by European authorities for alleged conspiracy with Pzifer CEO over the EU vaccine sale deal (we wasted billions in unused doses), the NYT is also suing her because she isn't giving the sms conversation with Burla after a FOIA-equivalent attempt by the NYT.

https://www.politico.eu/article/pfizerga...

now suppose it's true and UVDL actually ordered many more doses than we needed, then the parties backing her campaigned hard for vax mandates in their respective countries... don't you guys see how the mandate can just have been a cover to sell the doses?

we moved from a conspiracy theory (they mandated the vaccines for personal financial interests, not for public health) to enough material backing that claim to have a 9 months criminal investigation ongoing, and the sms trail behind the deal disappeared.

With common sense we save trillions. Don't even need a crystal ball.

All viruses mutate, all over the world, constantly. When your hypothetical damaging variant comes, we deal with it then when we see the facts.

If you think burning trillions was worth it over hypotheticals, be my guest. That today is a minority and fringe opinion amongst the masses.

All viruses mutate, huh? If only it were that simple. Can you explain to us why measles will likely never evolve to escape control of our immunity?

it mutates as well but it is in an evolutionary Cul de sac where basically all mutations are worse for him from the multidimensional hill it sits upon.

it still mutates though, but it's ineffectual (from our pov) when it does so.

RNA viruses do mutate very very often (compared to all the rest of biological life), functionally.

and we live with hundreds of RNA viruses around is and, most importantly, *we never gave a **** about the possibility they could mutate beforehand*. if the other 4 Hcov, human coronaviridae, which we call "the flu" (among others) mutate, what do we do? we will assess when/of it happens, in the meanwhile *we don't give a ****".

what if rhinovirus which is everywhere and can stay dormant for months (we have cases in pole bases with people separated from the outside world for months) develops a far higher lethality?

WE WILL DEAL WOTH IT WHEN/IF IT HAPPENS.

in the meanwhile ... *we don't give a *****. we live fully normally disregarding those unknown unknowns we can't control

We are currently tracking over 150 different serotypes of rhinovirus.

Funny you think money, that can just be printed from thin air, is more important than saving life ?
If only we could print life as easily has a piece of paper that is called money , anyway moving on ….

About muatation , when you get a virus that is damaging and can kill a certain group of person already , it isn’t just hypothetical, it is very real ….
And even more dangerous when you already have 0 response in first lethal variant to begin with .

https://www.unitypoint.org/news-and-arti....

"Every time the virus jumps to a new person, its chance of mutation increases. We must use the tools we have – especially the COVID-19 vaccine – to help reduce the spread. Decreasing the number of infections in a community is the best way to prevent new variants from developing,” Dr. Best says.

It’s always easy to hold the view u have after the fact but it just take one variant and it can be incredibly lethal very fast !
You are totally ignoring the real danger of a black swan that can kill millions in a heart beat !
You probably not a person that buy insurance for your house I suppose ?
What is the use right ?

Btw it wasn’t just burning trillions , that money isn’t just burn , it’s been used .

Ps: I suspect tien you are good enough in math to know that increasing a “small hypothetical danger “ by couple millions , increase that “tiny” risk exponentially to real risk very fast ….

Cold viruses and common flu constantly mutate. I don't see you shivering over a potentially more dangerous cold / flu strain coming. Seems like it doesn't even concern you.

Oh no, what if common flu suddenly mutates into something more dangerous! The horror!

Keeping young healthy people at home doing nothing while printing money to send to them + forcing businesses to shutdown and printing money to send to those businesses = absolutely wasting money. This isn't something you will ever understand. I don't expect you to either.

Because they aren’t a dangerous variant obv.

When u find one , like COVID 19 , this is where it can be potentially be much more dangerous because it’s already is dangerous .
I don’t understand how it’s so difficult for you to understand .

All viruses mutate. I'm sorry this is news to you.

And why should we be concern of virus that aren’t dangerous to mutate ?
See the difference ?

Ps: some virus are very stable , so vaccine works great vs them unlike COVID 19 which we saw the vaccine getting less efficient with more variants appearing .

Covid-19 original was not a dangerous variant statistically for anyone under 50.

hahahahahahahaha

Covid is more deadly than the flue.

Have you ever even had covid??
