Las Vegas Fine Dining Thread

I'm actually too embarrassed to post this in the golf forum as everyone seems to think the course is easy, but I'll be hacking up the Vidanta course. Probably no fine dining pics.

It’s an absolutely fantastic restaurant, some of the best high end seafood there is in the world. Im also from Maryland so I can appreciate a great crab shack as unbeatable seafood

I think this talk about wine pairings falls under the you can’t plan everything category. If the wine pairing for the first course isn’t to your liking, you can either cancel it or start grabbing a can’t miss from the wine list. It’s off strip so the prices should be on the verge of reasonable

Does anyone know if Joel Robuchon still picks you up in a gold limo if you have a dinner booking? Or has this ended.

Going for a few days soon. I plan to have meals at bavettes and sushi Neko. Anyone have an opinion on Prime vs Bavettes vs any other steak house within walking distance? Also I've heard sushi Neko is very busy and doesnt take reservations, and other highly recommended AYCE sushi spots? I've heard sushi gorilla mentioned a few times

I almost typed this without seeing the rest of your response but sushi neko is not destination dining. It’s good all you can eat sushi but there are 6-12 solid options for ayce and some almost never have wait times. If I was visiting I would just yelp ayce and go with the combination of highest rating and most convenient. Bavettes is great for dinner with your friends or eating at bar, prime is great for big date night. I like to also throw some love to scotch 80 prime and delmonicos, think they have the strongest sides and apps. Finally burgers at nusr el et (no need to dine there just pick up) and lunch burger at Peter Luger are best in town currently.

Gwen dropped her phone into the langoustine while taking a pic, which was slightly embarrassing. They brought another one out in under a minute even though I didn't feel they needed to.

I will say I was a bit disappointed in the dover sole. It was fine, but definitely one of the dishes I would have ordered if we did a 4 course, so I had high expectations. Everything else was fantastic. The salmon-caviar probably being the star of the meal for me although some might say it would have been too salty. The halibut wasn't much to look at, but it was incredible.

The train broke down before the Princeton station. Gwen wanted to just cancel and eat the no-show fee, but I ordered an Uber and we made it there a few minutes to spare (we did call and they said they would give us a 15 minute grace period, so I guess it was with 17 minutes to spare... but still impressive we made it at all considering the weather).

Best places for seafood? Buffet or restaurant doesn’t matter

the food looks ossum, but $325 to $499 pp before tax and tip seems like insane pricing and would rule me out.

Idc that I can afford it, I'd still just be thinking about the extra pair of Jordan's or jeans I could buy if I went to another fine dining place instead.

It's a restaurant in NYC with three Michelin stars. Gwen booked it as soon as this month opened up and still only got a 5:30pm reservation. They could definitely charge more.

I obviously can't wait for Java's review....

I understand it's expensive and I even reached out for opinions, but you could go to the lounge for a few bites and a drink for a fraction of the price. I think my dinner at Guy Savoy in LV was more expensive, so I don't get the gripe. I almost wish I wouldn't have posted the price, but it's not exactly a secret.

And unlike some higher end restaurants in LV, this is a very deep menu if you don't want to with the tasting.

Yeah I didn’t realise it was NY to be fair.

It probably also exposes some nittery in me too - I spend less on clothes and shoes than I did 30 years ago when my annual income was 15-20x less.

Best fine dining recommendation under $100? I'm thinking dinner at the Wynn Buffet.

Bavette steak frites is like $50 and waaaaay better than any buffet. For $100 you can add a starter and cocktail.

As planned, we went to Sparrow + Wolf for my birthday on March 28. We had an early reservation (needed to get to the poker tables), which I had made for outside. When they seated us inside, I didn't question it because it was so windy outside, but it seemed strange that they didn't mention it.

Inside is dark (lighting, black paint, tables, etc.), and the music is a little loud, but nothing like most restaurants today -- at least we could hear each other.

The food and wine was good, but I don't think it was worth the price -- as someone else wrote, things in Vegas rarely are. However, I would definitely go back to Edo and Hiroyoshi for their tasting menus; I would not go back to S+W.

Highlights of the menu were the oxtail hummus (my husband absolutely loved it), braised rabbit agnolotti (probably my favorite), and the honey pork secreto (my husband's favorite). The oyster duo was very good.

The kanpachi, banh cuon, monkfish, and kalbi rib cap were disappointing. Kanpachi was bland. Banh cuon was OK, but nothing special and the sauce was overwhelming. I was really looking forward to the monkfish. It's one of my favorite fish, but it's so rare to see on menus. Unfortunately, this tasted like a bland piece of cod -- no "poor man's lobster" flavor. The sauce on this dish was very good with the potato, though. Kalbi tasted good, but the sauce overpowered the lobster and the kalbi -- I separated them as best I could so that I could taste the meat.

The service was fantastic and the dessert was good.

The most upsetting thing was a $5 charge for a bottle of tap water. Seeing that on a $500 check almost ruined the evening.

Interesting. I couldn't taste anything past the sauce, and there was a lot of sauce! I thought it really overpowered the meat/lobster. (I couldn't really taste the lobster at all.)

Good choice.

Bouchon is quite good imo, and it has the right vibe where you will feel you had a fancy experience.

Vetri Cucina at Palms. Great view, outstanding food, pretty upscale. Salad, pasta + dessert is right around $100. They don't have massive portions, if that's your thing. But the above filled me up and I'm over 220.

What is the best place if you want to try Beef Wellington? Obv answer is probably some Gordon Ramsey place but are there other options?

I didn't love the Wellington at HK, it was ok but definitely not up to the hype. Thought the short rib was way better honestly...
