Weird. I've eaten there on two trips and both times the food was good and neither my husband nor I got sick -- and we ate tuna tartare (it was really good on a bed of avocado) and calamari (also really good).

Sorry it was a bad experience for you, but I will go back.

I've eaten there a bunch and never had a problem

Go at your own peril at some point you will be sick that place is absolutely disgusting. I’m also same person who told you sparrow and wolf is not very good despite what everyone else in this thread seems to think.

You were right about Sparrow + Wolf.

Why do you think it's disgusting? I know your wife got sick, but that happens. Did you see the kitchen? Was there something rotten, gross, etc.? Just curious. I've worked in a lot of restaurants, so I know what can go on in a kitchen -- even "fine dining." If most people knew, they'd never eat out!

I have eaten meals that would make most people ill, too, so I'm probably going to be OK -- I'll let this thread know if my husband is ever affected at Ocean One 😉

Honestly I’m with you, it’s tough to make me sick and easy to make my wife sick, with that said the quality of the food as I walked in the restaurant looked worse than a chilis, and if we weren’t meeting a cheap couple I would have left. I didn’t even trust anything but ordering some neat bourbon because the sweet drinks were nasty too.

Vegas no longer is a good place for value, but there are better cheap options than this. Sorry I just never expected to see this place in this thread, and I would argue just about anything else is a better alternative.

Went to the Toddy Shop popup at Parlour for their fried chicken Friday, the chicken is incredibly good. Tandoori fried, great seasoning/sauce/crust. Very highly recommend, will probably go back next week to try the other kind they have. Great sides too, the cassava one in particular was a standout. Almost tasted like a Tom Kha soup with perfectly cooked potato/cassava and much thicker than a soup. Kinda hard to describe but it was great.

Went to check out Pat’s Patties food truck, someone in my game the other day said it was the best burger they’ve ever had. Line was long, took 45 minutes to order. Burger was top tier smash burger style.

Got the Oklahoma style with onions smashed into the burger. Definitely great quality, not sure if best ever or worth waiting an hour when Yukon has no wait but I would def eat it again: $13 for double burger.

They sold out by like 7pm the last few days so go early if you want one.

wj94 I appreciate your posts fwiw...incredible meals you've been finding...yum!

wow... those last two food posts look amazing!

Too many good places to eat around here. I’ve been here 12 years and still have a laundry list of spots I want to try.

WJ94-how did you find out about the popup for the fried tandoori chicken? Those pics look amazing. I’m planning to get out to Vegas in the next few months and would love to try it.

I’ve been following their IG for a while, it’s currently every Friday at Parlour. @toddyshopusa is the IG tag

Anyone else feel like there is a ceiling for how good smash burgers can be? Top ten burgers I’ve ever had I don’t think there is one smash burger. Think it’s an incredible hack to make at home, and they are great to satisfy a grease craving, but placing them as better than Luger or Bavettes or nusr is crazy to me.

Ive only ever eaten at SB one time... I dont have anything bad to say, I just dont feel like going out of my way to go back.

I noticed on Bravo that Aria has Proper Eats (takeout only) listed as one of the places you can use poker comps. Has anyone done this, and can describe the process? Still manual or now better integrated?

Real sliders(not mini burgers) are an authentic American culinary delight.

What’s the difference between “real sliders” and “mini burgers”?

I love smash burgers, but I agree with this. There usually isn't a lot of variation with SBs

(cross posted in fine dining for the other parts)

I'm sure some of you know Mike Chen on Youtube. I used to follow him but haven't been keeping up with his videos since maybe the end of pandemic times. Anyways, he's released two videos of Vegas spots recently.

The videos are a mix of casual and fine dining. I'll mark the casual dining part, but I think all parts are worth watching.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6MGb88X...
GangNam Premium AYCE (Wagyu level $45.95) starts around 3:04

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1k1WRbW...
Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House (Gold Wagyu level $68/pp member price? $78 normal, secret diamond level +$20 for unlimited dishes that normally would be 1 per person) starts around 0:45

I might have to visit when in Vegas next. Looked good.

Went to Yu or Mi sushi at Durango casino yesterday for lunch. They have a solid lunch special deal. One specialty roll, one regular roll, plus the shrimp tempura, miso soup, and salad for $18.88. The specialty rolls by themselves are normally $20-28 and the stuff I ordered would have been around $50-60 at dinner time.

Also not pictured but their fried rice is incredibly good, also on the $18.88 lunch menu

Why go to that Durango sushi spot when Mr. Shota is right down the street owned by the same people as Neko/Sakana?

Went with family, they wanted to see the casino since they hadn’t been there yet. Will put Shota on the list

Mr. Shota is great. Regardless of what that costs at dinner, 19 bucks seems like a fair price, not a generous one.
