Nili Margalit was taken hostage by Gazan civilians and sold to Hamas later on. You'd have to think there are others in a similar boat. Hamas probably hasn't had reliable info on a lot of them for some time (if ever).

No part of Judaism or Zionism prefers dead Jews. You just won't find that, and historically the Jewish people have proven time and again that they'd make massive strategic concessions bordering on mistakes to save the few. The American Special forces do the same (and Jihadist have exploited this too).
The truth is that the dead hostages here simply prevent Israel from potential strategic error (in the game theory approach) of handing over thousands of killers back to Hamas. Israel may no longer be forced into a Shalit situation. And we can recognize that to be true. That's all that has happened here today. Hamas has Israel over less of a barrel than we thought yesterday.

ofc its true that dead Israelis are better for Zionism. thats why they have the Hannibal doctrine and thats why they slaughtered many of their own on Oct 7. at least in the short term it is good. but not sure how a society constantly at war can reconcile that if any one of them is strategically better off dead then they will be gladly sacrificed and continue to exist long term. I certainly would not be willing to give my life up so that my country can continue to murder and steal.
ad for conflating the Jewish people with Zionish, well I sure hope what you say is true and they are both very different things. but I think a lot of people like yourself and Dun look at Jews and Zionists as the same, just like you look at Muslims and ISIS as the same.

I think they are talking about actually civilian hostages.
they are not giving up the soldiers for 6 weeks of respite.
the plan that Hamas has offered all along has been to swap in phases. civilians first, and then soldiers.
this has been the offer since Oct 8th. but most Israelis would prefer 100s of dead Jews to allow for murdering 100s of thousands of Palestinians.

The hostages were presumably meant to insure the hostage-takers against massive Israeli retaliation, given Israel's mistakenly obliging policy in the past. But that gamble failed, so the value of the hostages may have gone down, which would be very bad news for the people taken.

Of the 129 hostages still alive after the last exchange, there are now less than 100 still living. The majority of those ~100 are military or military aged men. They do not have 40 hostages that meet the criteria for exchange- women, children, elderly, and sick. So now they must decide if they are willing to hit the 40 number by including military males, which seems unlikely.

the military men and women are POWs. I dont think Hamas is willing to send back active military women. Hamas, like Iran, are actually woke.
