When an interviewer told Mr. Heller that he had never written anything as good as ''Catch-22,'' the author shot back, ''Who has?''

O.J. Simpson, not exactly a celebrity, but apparently now okay on this blog, 4/10/2024.

Not a celebrity? lol

Famous football player, actor, double murderer that got off, trial of the century.

Guess he ran outa juice.

My only comment is that O.J. Was never boring! You can take that as either negative or positive or a mix of both.

He is rotting in Hell for those that believe in such silliness.

lol you can call him a lot of things but him "not exactly a celebrity" is not one of them.

The great running backs all had a unique style, and he was probably my favorite. Jim Brown was more powerful but a little before my time.

At least OJ can rest, knowing his wife's murderer is now dead.

Whitey Herzog, baseball manager. Led the Cardinals to the 1982 World Series title over my Brewers in the Brewers' only WS appearance.

Made me sad at the time. On the plus side, met some really good friends at college who were Cardinals fans, and with whom I've stayed in touch to this day.

Dorrel Norman Elvert Herzog
what a moniker
thought of him more as feisty hedgehog

RIP Whitey Herzog Master of the small ball approach of speed, defense and line drives. I prefer that to the launch angle strike out kings of today.

Also RIP Kenny Holtzman - Solid lefty pitcher with the Cubs and A's. Had a couple of no-hitters back in the day.

I enjoy the big ball approach of the Yankees: Money, Guns, and Lawyers!

Living to 80 may have been his greatest achievement.

Daniel Dennett, philosopher and atheist, who, to paraphrase the NY Times, said it is difficult to explain to people that their lives have been based on an illusion.

Roman Gabriel died, qb for those George Allen Rams teams in the early 70s. Good looking guy, pretty good at qbing too. Quite a name he had too!

Aw, man...I collected football cards when I was a kid, and my three most valuable were Joe Namath, Bubba Smith, and Roman Gabriel.

Helen Vendler at 90. One of the great poetry critics, especially on Wallace Stevens and John Keats.

I have his book: Darwin’s Dangerous Idea; which is an excellent read. Sad to see him go. He’s in Hell now along with Darwin so they can chat it up while being roasted alive.

Ye-Ha; put your sh*T kickers on and hop about.

Bernard Hill, fantastic actor of films like The Ghost And the Darkness, Titanic, and especially King Thoden in The Lord Of the Rings. He was 79.

Broken YouTube Link

"DEATH!"

One nice bit of trivia: Hill is the only actor to have been featured in two films that each one 11 Oscars.

He was fantastic in Lord of the Rings. Great acting range and so compelling and realistic.

Steve Albini, 61

Legendary record producer, two-time WSOP bracelet winner, and 2+2er ( his name was "electrical").

He had a heart attack.

This was his last post. Very Albini.
