2024 NFL Off-season Thread
:(
I wonder if JuJu is getting a funny nickname now that he showed of his privates on social media?
Interesting comparison with Tee Higgins. I'd choose Smith ahead of Higgins, but they're the same age and Tee is two years closer to 'real' free agency which you would think increases leverage. Guessing Tee sees this as his floor now
CIN won't be offering Tee this contract (or similar)
he'll play on the tag this season and then be on his way
ignore mock drafts, look at what the betting market says, that info leaks and people bet on it shaping the lines
Devonta Smith extends with Iggles 3/75-52
highest paid #2 receiver in the League by quite some way and prolly a little more than I'd have thought, albeit with 2 years left on his existing deal, it becomes a lot more affordable over 5 years.

should also have included Brandon Aiyuk in this. His situation somewhere in between the other two - same draft year as Higgins but is a 1st rd pick so SF has 5YO. So he's officially closer to FA than Smith was but further away than Higgins is. Albeit I'm not sure 9ers would have the space to franchise Aiyuk next year so perhaps they're the same.
I prolly have Aiyuk ahead of Smith ahead of Higgins but I think they're all very close. Will be interested to see a) if either of the non signed two get traded and b) what their deals look like if they do and certainly next offseason if they're FAs
Both 9ers and Bengals are in the same situation given they will both think their SB window is open which would argue against them trading them. I reckon Aiyuk is more likely to be extended...and I would if I were 9ers
No idea why but Draftkings has a line for Eagles -1.5 vs. Packers in Brazil in week 1 of the regular season. O/U of 50.
I like the Smith deal, getting it done ahead of Aiyuk, Higgins, Jefferson, CeeDee, Chase etc. is smart. He's obviously not near some of those guys but they'll start propping up the whole market. It's $2m/year more than what Ridley got
Im gonna guess 4 primetime games for Detroit. Two sunday nights.

I keep forgetting about Waddle but he's in this territory too. He basically has the exact same stats as Smith in the exact same situation....very good 1st rd WR from Alabama going into his 4th season as a very good #2 receiver on a playoff team (getting thrown to by an Alabama QB who also threw to him in college)
it'll be interesting to see if Miami pays him. They can get out of the Reek deal at the end of 2024 if they want to
Did they? Im such a moron. I can't recall them being featured a bunch.
I could see the Lions with 3 PT games
Bears - especially if they draft Caleb
49ers - NFCCG rematch seems like a no brainer
Cowboys or Bills - not sure if there's a rule that all of a team's PT games can't be against the same conference
Thursday Night Football: Week 1 vs. Chiefs.
Thursday Night Football: Week 4 vs. Packers.
Monday Night Football: Week 8 vs. Raiders.
Thanksgiving: Week 12 vs. Packers. (technically not a prime time game)
Saturday Night: Week 17 vs. Cowboys.
Cowboys always get the maximum of 6 prime time games anyway and Bills had 6 last season, too. Good chance at least one of those games, potentially both, are prime time.
Broncos contune to implode. One the worst trades ever gutted the team and brought a huge contract and russel wilson. Lets be real... If a terrible mistake is made you gotta own it and move forward. Worse thing is to dig the hole deeper. Imo they shoulda just kept him and play it out and try to improve team. Of course GM should been canned. But hey bring in Sean Peyton make the best of this mistake and move forward. Coach him up.
Looks to me like Sean Peyton ego has turned this whole thing worse. Not only does he flip out on Wilson like he is some kinda God. Did you expect Superbowl Sean? He gets them to dump him when he was supposed to make the best of this situation. Now what? Well Sean can't look bad can he? They need a real QB for his highness. Press now saying they are willing to dump two of thier best players to get a good qb in this draft... when there aint much that I can see.
A bad mistake continues get worse. Give up more good players for nothing. Ego perhaps.
yeah, Broncos are very likely to do something crazy in the draft IMO. When the coach is also the one making personnel decisions, they're more likely to make short term, risky plays than a GM who is there for the long term.
add in Payton's mega ego and the fact he's on giant $$, so getting fired will mean a huge payout and that he'll think his legacy is set already given the SB and long Saints tun. So I reckon it means he'll be up for an expensive, high risk move for a QB rather than bottom out for a year and find one in 2025
We are a week away. Broncos are at 12. Im a GM, they wana swap picks and give me two good players. It's done any of the top picks, I'm doing it. Except if I'm bears. There is one true QB prospect. I think the rise of JJ speaks to how negative this year if for QB
Bo Nix to borncos confirmed
