2024 NFL Off-season Thread
:(
We are a week away. Broncos are at 12. Im a GM, they wana swap picks and give me two good players. It's done any of the top picks, I'm doing it. Except if I'm bears. There is one true QB prospect. I think the rise of JJ speaks to how negative this year if for QB
The issue is that the teams currently expected to pick #1-3 all need a QB and Surtain/Sutton (the players Denver apparently would be willing to give up) don't help. #4 is Arizona who might want Harrison Jr. anyway unless anyone is willing to give up at least two firsts + X. That leaves a potential fight over the #5 pick between Minnesota and Denver.
I can feel desperation rising, should get interesting. Please Universe lets us get offensive line. Stay calm.
Just no end to "we picked who, in the first round why?" Lifetime of it.
if anyone is wondering about a non-projected 1st round draft prospect and wants detailed intel, i'll copy/paste The Beast's breakdown for six requests (one request per poster)
choose wisely. fire away
I don't watch much college football, so I watch highlights and combine videos on youtube. It wont let me post his combine vid here, copyright.
Hope the kid does alright, seems like a nice fellow, just my thoughts.. He throws like grandmother. I don't know where all this hype is coming from but if my team took him I'd die inside. With his arm strength whatever he did in college is nice, he has no buisness in the nfl. Any team that takes him should hire someone to open pickle jars for him. As an owner I'm firing front office via 3 am email. Maybe he gets drafted as mr irrelavnt and can do a media tour again. Ok my post count is overboard. Self ban one week.

Well, last year the whole draft community laughed at the Lions for picking an RB and an MLB in Rd 1 and it worked out pretty well for them.
Broncos contune to implode. One the worst trades ever gutted the team and brought a huge contract and russel wilson. Lets be real... If a terrible mistake is made you gotta own it and move forward. Worse thing is to dig the hole deeper. Imo they shoulda just kept him and play it out and try to improve team. Of course GM should been canned. But hey bring in Sean Peyton make the best of this mistake and move forward. Coach him up.
Looks to me like Sean Peyton ego has turned this whole thing
It was a terrible trade. I think the fact that the Broncos were for sale at the time had a lot of influence on it. Bring in a franchise QB and increase the price of the team. Russ had a no trade clause so I'm sure his people told Denver you will need to give Russ a new contract for this trade to happen. George Paton is still with the team because he is a great scout and is very well connected in the league. I suspect they are not putting all of the blame on him for the trade.
Denver brought in Sean P to turn the team into a contender again, not make the best of the Russel Wilson situation. It was obvious from the beginning he didn't like Russ. He got rid of him as soon as it was feasible to do so. Wilson couldn't run his offense so no point in keeping him around. They know that they will be helped out greatly by the team cap going up significantly this year and most likely next. Also, if Wilson signs a longer term contract next year the Broncos will be off the hook paying his salary.
I don't believe much of what is being said right now in the press. Teams have sent the scouts home and have consolidated who is in the know regarding the draft. The media is reaching for whatever they can. Most of it is click bait. Denver could use a player like Patrick Surtain as a bargaining chip to move up. They don't have a second rounder this year which hurts. The Vikings have more clout with two first rounders this year to give. If Denver moves up it will be for a QB that Sean loves and is confident that he could run his offense and make this team a contender at some point.

The Chargers would never trade with Denver so the Vikings win that one. Denver would have to move to 4 and I don't think that is gonna happen. The Cards already have 6 picks in the top 90. They need to start getting some blue chip talent. I don't think they pass on Harrison if he is available. I can't see Denver giving up probably 3 first round equivalents plus unless by some miracle their number two guy behind Caleb falls. I can see the Chargers wanting to move down since they may be targeting offensive line which would still be there at 11. They do need a WR bad so maybe they stick at 5. They do need more picks and players on cheap contracts. I could see the Broncos possibly moving up to 9 with Chicago. The Bears only have 4 picks in this draft. They won't be trading with the Vikings.
don't rule out ARZ moving out of #4 and then moving right back to #5
worth a read - interesting that Rob Kraft appears to have talked against BB to Arthur Blank
Please don't do this. I've really been enjoying your posts. I'm also desperately hoping Jets just K.I.S.S. and go OLine Round #1.
That would be the short and long term way to go. The two aging tackles are fragile. I think they pick Brock Bowers. Mike Williams is fragile as well. Having weapons like Brock, Garret and Breece would be scary. If Williams can stay healthy that just makes them more scary. I think it would be tough to pass on him even though OL might be the wiser pick.
need more wedding updates imo
Who needs wedding updates when there is a draft on the horizon?
Chargers offer Herbert to the Bears for the #1 pick. Who says no?
Herbert has 6years $270m left on his deal
Cardinals offer Kyler Murray to the Patriots for the #3 pick. Who says no?
Kyler has 5 years $198 left on his deal
Zach Wilson to the Broncos for a late round draft pick swap

Chargers and Pats
I can’t prove it but Sherbert is the best qb in football not named Kermit. I will hate Harblah til the day I die but there’s no denying he has a mastery at getting the most out of a qb. Giving up on Sherbert now is basically trading a powerball ticket you got 5/5 numbers right for 500k before finding out what the powerball number is
Conversely kyler sucks
If I’m Pats, I’d much rather have Kyler than Daniels. Kyler is close to Daniels’ upside. But I’d def take Drake Maye over Kyler.
I also don’t do it if I’m Chargers
I wonder what the cut off is for QBs the Bears would take for #1?
Pat, Allen, Herbert, Burrow, Stroud
Lamar and Love are a debate?
I’d keep # 1 vs taking Trevor
The best qb that merits at least a who says no discussion for 1 I think is burrow
Other than that every qb listed is on a team that snap rejects the notion except love who snap calls
idk if it was the opposition, the system, the wrs, the line, or penix himself
but i admittedly watch very little college ball but he looked like a man among boys out there - looked way better than a lot of guys who went on to have pretty good NFL careers IMO
super limited sample but would definitely like it if the pats rolled the dice on penix
Apologies in order gents. Someone may have been trash talking Bronco land. Today I learn they give two picks for milfhunter. As someone who isn't opposed to this.... please forgive me if I was invovled..
Im partial to a freak like Josh, a giant barreling down the field or throwing 30 yard darts....if he would stop being a dummy, but I wouldn't argue with you SRM. Burrow is the best if not, then he is in discussion imo.
I don’t disagree that Penix has upside but if the pats took Penix at 3 everyone associated with that decision should be fired into the sun
Pats could conceivably trade down to the Vikings and still be able to grab him
