Joseph Heller still dead, still at 76 (and other celebrity deaths): RIP Hank Aaron and Willie Mays

When an interviewer told Mr. Heller that he had never written anything as good as ''Catch-22,'' the author shot back, ''Who has?''

Steve Albini, 61

Legendary record producer, two-time WSOP bracelet winner, and 2+2er ( his name was "electrical").

He had a heart attack.

From that article, a Dec 1993 article he wrote "The Problem with Music". In case our younger posters think the music industry sucks today.

Whoa. Wtf......

This link doesn't work for me, probably because of the ****.

RIP Roger Corman, the godfather of low-budget, indie filmmaking. He was 98.

Spent many Saturdays watching Corman's Poe adaptations at the Park Theater in Cranston, RI.

The Horror and Exploitation community have lost an absolute legend. Truly sad news I was hoping he'd reach 100. Big fan of his work and was lucky enough to chat to him briefly on twitter once when Menachim Golan died, and he was a total gentleman. RIP.

And Paul Schrader just had to bad mouth him on the very day he died. Stay classy Paul.

David Sanborn, Saxophonist, dead at age 78, on Sunday, May 12, 2024. One of the greats.

lol you can call him a lot of things but him "not exactly a celebrity" is not one of them.

"Celebrity," someone whose life we celebrate. I'd call OJ notorious but not a celebrity. I don't know many folks who celebrated his life, but to each his own.

This is a loss. He was a guy who always showed up on my favorite records whether it was Ronstadt or Butterfield or Idris Muhammad.

He was certainly a celebrated pi personality before he became a murderer. And unfortunately the not guilty verdict was celebrated by many as well.

Maybe the greatest short story writer of this generation.

Dabney Coleman, great, funny, wonderful character actor...he was 92

I loved him in Tootsie, Slap Maxwell, 9-5, and Buffalo Bill.

He was just awesome in everything.

He was awesome in Tootsie and I loved War Games (1983) as a kid. I was also surprised to see him pop up in Black Fist (1975) a blaxploitation flick I randomly watched a couple of years back.

loved the one role he wasn't an azzhole - On Golden Pond...especially when he falls in the water, all nonchalant.

Morgan Spurlock of Super Size Me fame dead at 53.

Bill Walton, NBA Hall Of Famer and announcer...cancer sucks. He was 71.

RIP Bill Walton
He was an extremely entertaining individual

Bill Walton had the rare blessings but also the troubles to overcome. A huge presence in everything he did. A special man.

Walton went 21/22 in the NCAA finals against Memphis State, which should have been Providence College if not for Marvin Barnes getting injured in the semifinals.

Watch some videos of Walton in his college days. Not only could he shoot and rebound, he was a great passer.

Only saw Walton as Pro with the Celtics. And as a 76's fan, no love lost.
Looking back, he and Kareem are an interesting comparison. Completely opposite players and people, yet both were multiple time champions in college and the NBA.
