What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.

Brag: Shot 80 today on my home course (par 72) - I'm a 12 handicap so this is a very good number for me.

Beat: Had a [censored] quadruple bogey on the easiest hole on the course. Stupid sand features.

Variance: Lost $3 thanks to the team game.

sounds like it's time to keep your chin simultaneously up and down

Whatever it was, I got through it.

Played in a 2-man cash game, net scramble. 14 teams, we took it down for over $1100! I hit the ball very nicely and did my usual thing of making putts left and right.

47 (par 36). No birdies, 4 double bogeys.

Quit after nine due to incoming storms. Knew I was doomed - got there early, had time for a full warmup on the range. Hit it well. Which is never a good sign. Promptly went out and hit it awful on the first three holes, making double each time.

On a more positive note, there were a couple swings that let me know that I'm still fixable. I popped up a drive on 5 so I hit a provisional. Best drive of the season, just killed it. The first ball ended up in the fairway so I played it, had 210 in on a par 4. Got 200 yards out of a hybrid that I've been playing as a 175 yard club, put it in perfect position to get up and down. Which I did not accomplish, but that's another matter. Also hit really good chips on 8 and 9.

Now if I could just do those things more than a couple times a round, that would be swell.

so relatable
pretty sure my top ten pre-round range sessions were followed by poor results

Went out today decided to play a 1 vs 2 high handicappers. 1 guy had a shot a hole and the other 14 shots. Got smashed 6&5.

Course has firmed up, Greens bouncy as ever and I seem to be flying the ball a lot further now maybe due to warmer temps in the UK so I need to find a way to adjust now.

My golf game is a bit hit and miss at the moment. 1 thing that did continue today was how well I hit my rescue honestly it's like a new club in the bag now I can play Par 5's pretty much risk free in terms of the 1st two shots. Hopefully I can brush up on the rest of the stuff.

45-44-89 (par 36-37-73). No birdies, 4 doubles, 1 triple. 70.9/136/6205. Pilgrim's Run in Pierson, MI. One of Michigan's best public courses.

Another good pre-round range session, another awful round. Things went off the rails from the beginning with a double-triple-double start. Eventually started making some better contact, got up and down a few times.

not sure about you but i've come to enjoy firm greens that release their secrets after a ball lands short
wise to not throw darts at every target

I hear you at my local though it's such a drastic change the greens are usually super soft. I do like it though, makes the course play a bit tougher and those who adapt to it will succeed the best.

41 (par 35). No birdies, no double bogeys.

Hit zero greens in regulation, but not as many truly awful shots and I scrambled decently for once. Not bad for Tuesday night golf.

i would pay 10% more to shoot a round like that right about now

50 (par 36). Super Frustrating as I couldn't get off the tee to save my life. Taking a week off to work on swing and try to figure this out.

are you still on the central coast jefkve?
if so, what courses do you play at?

Yessir. Mostly Monarch Dunes. Also close to Cypress Ridge, which I can recommend. If you're planning to be in the area, I always recommend Morro Bay as it has stunning ocean views with a muni price tag. Its a very easy layout with some diabolical greens (think gravity hill). In Lompoc, you've got Mission Club and La Purisma, which are both excellent. I've heard good things about Alisol, Sand Piper, and Hunter Ranch, but haven't been to them yet. AVOID: Blacklake, Avila Beach, and Rancho Maria.

thoughtful information
thank you

Had a 75 on Tuesday with a triple and a double. 4 birds. Happy.

Sounds really close to my round on Sunday. 73, 2 doubles, 4 birdies.

outstanding

Played poop again can't even go to the range to figure it out as my car broke down earlier this week small problem which will be fixed mid week.

It was only the 9 hole roll up tonight.

We were playing the back 9 tonight and on 16th small par 3 we had a nearest to the pin. I hit a semi decent shot probs about 8 feet away. I put the pin in for the nearest to the pin after my putt. I put the pin in the green in a way that it was at its thinnest so people don't hit it.

To get to the 17th tee you walk back up the 16th and you're hitting over the 16th green. So I'm standing on the tee. 1st player in the group behind hits his shot onto the green. Bounces once hit the nearest to the pin and spins back. I'm standing on the tee fist pumping. Whilst laughing thinking what are the chances of that happening 2nd guy steps up puts it to 5 feet.

I need to snap out of this bad play. All my destructive shots are on a such violent hook.

Followed it up with a nuclear 90 (adjusted to 89) yesterday. Couldn't figure out my swing until about 15 or so.

Always nice to get a 15 stroke swing between rounds.

39-44-83. 1 birdie, 2 double bogeys. 70.2/134/5990

Played the back nine first and got off to a slow start - six holes before I made a par, seven before I hit a green in regulation. Played relatively well the last 12 holes.

ain't that just the way it goes when you care about results

weekend recap,

Yesterday was a sort of society day for one of our local pubs. Really good turn out. Course is in the best condition I've ever seen it now looks great.

There was a individual and team event, I had a great group whilst our golf wasn't great we had a lot of banter within it which I love. I played alright, Kept on getting compliments about how effortless my swing is which is always nice.

After we finished we went to the pub for some food and drinks. Got to the pub around 12:30ish I was only meant to stay till like 2/3pm but ended up leaving about 10:30pm 😃

All of our Sunday lot were feeling a bit fragile in this morning and the golf showed. Did a 3v3v3 scramble and scores were meh -4 -4 and -1 my team won on count back.

Overall super fun weekend with great weather and people. Once I get my car back going to put some time in at the range to sort the golf out,

42-44-86. No birdies, 3 double bogeys. 70.3/133/6100

Gave away a few too many shots with the putter. Ball striking was mostly decent, as was the chipping and pitching.

41 (par 36) last night. No birdies, no double bogeys.

Pretty decent for Tuesday golf, but it lost a bit of the shine when I missed very makeable par putts on each of the last four holes.

37-36-73. 3 birdies, no double bogeys. 69.0/122/6007 yards

I have no idea where the hell THAT came from. Sure, there have been signs of better play, but I sure didn't expect to put it all together at once. Hit exactly one truly bad shot, tee ball on #5 and it cost me a bogey. One understandable three putt and two unsuccesful up and downs were the others.

Going to knock 1.2 strokes off my handicap.

👍👍👍
i've been waiting for something like that from you
