Who would you like to see in HCL Million Dollar Cash Game

Some time ago HCL announced that they will be streaming a cash game with minium buy-in of million dollars.

Who would you like to see playing in it?

My list:

1. Rick Salomon

Absolutely fearless, plays fast and loose and puts people in tough spots all the time. Has good feel for the live game.

2. Andrew Robl

Nice to have some super pro also in the mix. Robl is entertaining and fearless.

3. Alan Keating

Well, Keating is Keating. Guaranteed action.

4. Hanz

That huge bluff against Keating earned Hanz a spot in my line up.

5. Eric Persson

I don’t like his antics that much but Eric creates a very unpredictable dynamic to the table. He can throw players off their game or just punt his stack in one hand.

6. Nik Airball

It’s good to have few villains in the table also. Loose and aggressive, can win or lose big. I don’t know how much he would play his villain image in this group though.

7. Tony G drunk

I just remember one Triton cash game from Montenegro when Tony G was hammered and he was just super funny and loosy goosy. If he is sober, he just is fasting and nitting it up drinking his bone broth.

8. Rui Cao

Action, action, action. Funny guy and brings good energy to the game.

9. JRB drunk

JRB is not a good player and his poker is not that interesting but he is funny and can keep the atmosphere in the table. Player like this is also needed.

(10.) Garret Addelstein

I have mixed feelings about Garret. He is a legend but I feel too much focus would go on the Robbi drama so I would leave him out from this one.

If I were Peter and watched the stream and heard the things being said behind my back I probably wouldn't go back tbh

Seemed like players were calling santosh a whale as well and I wouldn't want to sit at that table as him either

Wheres Robl / JRB / Yonge / Tony G / Patrik?

I don't think any of those guys want to be associated with HCL, Dwan, or Polk. They all have a stigma of being bottom of the barrel imo.

This is why HCL can't get a solid roster.

Polk has a stigma?

he's a bold dude and a little cocky (less so nowadays) but I feel like he's been mostly fine

People that hit and run are disgusting and deserve to have **** talked about them

The dude hit and ran while up $2.5mm. Should he expect the other players in the game to not be salty? Dwan is stuck over a milly and still laughing and smiling and making conversation with the businessman in the game. Should they be like "Wow that guy who got dealt the nuts every hand was such a joy to play with, I had such a thrilling time, I'm sorry to see him leave and look forward to seeing him come back soon!"

looks like santosh the whale bailed not a good sign

Start time twice pushed back 30 mins now, annoying. Is this a hint on Dougs twitter he might play again tonight or tomorrow?

at this rate there might be no games without doug. they are one player bailing or busting from having no one to play.

brandon stevens if he shows up this time
keating if he shows
dwan
steve
texas guy
one mystery player

Thats the lineup i got from the pregame show listing in the background
no one else has money to play that is there I didn't hear action dan in the lineup as expected and no santosh mentioned

Yeah. There were also repeated promises that even though he was leaving with all the money he would be back to play tonight, which is now not happening. Not sure who made that promise though, it was the commentators repeating it last night.

alan just said in the chat hes gonna be a half hour late

Anyone who believed that line is still waiting for their dad to get home from buying cigarettes 30 years after he left the house.

This is on Ryan who is the organizer. He probably thought it would be fine but then Texas Mike had to bail and they were left with no whale.

He should have cancelled day 2 or at least had the conversation with the whole group, but instead he let it run and the day was overall awful including a bunch of salty players **** talking the whales.

Guess what, this is why players started calling the whales VIPs and letting them get away with murder.

Look I get it but this is different from "buy the 10/20 whale a bottle of wine and let them vape at the table, it's good for the game." Expecting players who are stuck 7 figures to act happy to see the guy with all the money rack up and leave 3 hours into the game, it's not going to happen lol.

I asked the most professional player (in terms of both demeanor and win rate) that I know what his reaction would be, this was his response:

Garrett Adelsetein tweeted 30 minutes ago “ And no, sorry, definitely not playing poker today for those who were hopeful otherwise” (for those who—like me—had been holding out hope that he would be the special guest.)

Spoiler
Show

So stream now delayed roughly 2 hrs and game's gonna be 4 handed? Can't wait to see these approx 90 mins of poker until the game dies, LFG!!!

Lol who's this Thomas, looks like Vogelsang

I was sure the mystery person was going to be someone famous, surprised it's a European businessman who won't show his face.

so the sick uber mystery surprise player is a european "businessman" noone ever heard of, wearing a mouth diaper and a hoodie?

It's gonna be like Scooby Do this. Thomas will win all the money, get up to leave, someone will rip his mask off and it will be Peter.

Nothing says "legitimate businessman with clean cash" like shitty prison tats and a refusal to show their face.

Could it be Thomas Wahlroos? 😃 old school legend

You are right its different from a 10/20 whale, its a 1000/2000 whale, which is even more rare and likely more sensitive/eccentric

Is Hustler wasting their time setting up these annual million dollar buy in games?

Let me propose an alternative:

200K minimum buy in game with 2K/2K blinds and 4K ante.

-Much larger pool of players interested in this buy in level
-higher blinds
-bigger pots preflop and on the flop
-More all ins
-Less politics of keeping certain players out as whales will feel more comfortable at this minimum buy in level
-Can still market it as million dollar game as there will be at least 1.6M on the table
-Average and median pot size will likely be the same or larger
-Largest pot of the night might be smaller
-Could easily run 4+ days of this in a row
-less cutthroat environment creating more fun table atmosphere
-easier to get big names that are casual poker players to participate (Botez, Lugwig, Kevin Hart, other celebrities etc)
