Covers Only
Hell, I don't know why I keep seeking out cover versions, but here goes. Post your favorites here.
I introduce Tangled Up in Blue to my freshman English students every year... & just about every year, at least one kid will deep dive Dylan from there.
But, of greater personal significance - way back in 1980, I was the overnight accountant in a large hotel. The breakfast line cook was a guy I went to high school with; so most days I would stop down in the kitchen and hang until I could hand the property over to the morning manager. Back then I had this habit of leaving my basketball shoes untied
I'm sure I am misremembering this but there is a great scene in a John McPhee book where he walks into his daughter's classroom to deliver a lecture and asks how many students have heard of Bob Dylan. One kid raises their hand.
Johnny Cash was a gift.
fantastic cover of one of the best songs ever and man when the highway men cover one of your songs and it's great but not even close to as good as the original that's when you know you're a legend.
my dad used to play this song all the time when I was little and I didn't understand the the love story aspect of it I just always got so angry at how unfair I deemed the ending lol.
REK has a bunch of great songs but this one and shades of gray my favorites.
Trying to escape my YouTube woes has led to a slew of songs I haven't thought about in years. I like the Top Gun version but I think I like this better.
There is no escape! We are all trapped! The more you scream the less you will be heard!
GOAT guitar solo?
if we're gonna post amazing guitar solos I humbly submit
also please note the mind blowing performance by terry williams on drums.
tho I don't even try to start trying to rank such a subjective medium often times whatever song I'm listening to at the moment is my favorite song and it stays at the top until I start listening to a different song which is also my favorite song ever.
just don't know how it's possible to rank and would rather spend the time appreciating all the truly amazing creations.
I'm gonna really try my hardest to not start posting a bunch of amazing solos **** I could spam this thread with a bunch of out of this world solos by derek trucks but don't want to derail what is a fantastic thread of covers but if you really wanna see an absolute savant destroy the guitar def check him out.
Is "Sultans of Swing"a cover?

I never realized how sad this song is because I never really listened to the lyrics back in 1971.

I normally only comment on songs ITT if I like them (I try to follow the "if you can't say something nice"-rule), but in this case I have to make an exception.
This is one of the most ****ed up things I've ever heard.
It's late here and I was going to go to bed, but now I have to stay up a while and cleanse my ears because if that was the last thing I heard, I'd be having nightmares all night long.
