Just One Game Thread
In this thread we will play the hottest new social word game.
It’s a cooperative game but we can split it into teams to bring a little more competition to it.
To play the game, everyone but one person is given the secret word for that round. Then everyone submits a 1-word clue to that secret word. The mod removes any duplicate words and posts the unique clues and the one person then guesses the secret word.
If correct, we get a point; if wrong we lose a point; if isn’t sure of the word, they can

I think it should count too but it is also a good break. Same root word but catch and catchy don't really have the same meaning in the way that, for example, beauty/beautiful, or witch/witchy do. Still should count though.
Good luck for anyone trying to clue to or guess exactly "catchy".

good points. Perhaps supporting that position is that the clues, while great for catch, are not really good for catchy. If that means anything at all.
I didn't understand the "22" clue until the catch guess.
I was wondering if you were referring to the Taylor Swift song.
variants from same word family (prince/princess, actor, actress) are considered to be dupes from the clue giving side; catch/catchy would apply there as well
on the GUESSING side, the rules don't say, so I suppose that means they have to be exact, but I dunno
I'm fine with catch/catchy being considered a match for the guess, but if we want harder difficulty I can see making it be an exact match
if it is exact match, then you NEVER give a clue like 22 because that leads to catch-22, not catchy...I assume the submitter of 22 figured catch/catchy would count so I'd hate to ding them...if we decide it doesn't count then I vote we send another word rather than subtract points now that we are clarifying this rule
but I'm also fine with it counting; the downside being that it's a grey area how to define matching if we don't go with exact match, so 'easier' to mod if just go exact match (and also harder and prolly more in line with the original rules)

I think this is the best option.
Guesses must be exact. Do a single word replacement for catchy because of the confusion.

Assumption was it would get them to catch and other clues would lead them to catchy, and in the worst case catch would count anyways.
After thinking about it, I don't think catch should count. Let's people angle away from harder words and simply give clues to an easier to get base word.
yeah I think exact matches should be the way (other than plural/singular)
I've sent a replacement word but going forward the guesser has to guess the exact word much easier to mod and less confusion

1.I genuinely have no clue, Hello being capitalised is very confusing. I think a sophomore is a second year student at college? but i can't make a single connection between these words. I'm so sorry team Pass
2. I've been staring at these words for hours and I still can't figure it out. I have no clue what a cupola is. Your noggin is your head right? clearly i have nothing going on in mine. i think there's some kind of throughline between Iron Thunder and volcanic but i cant figure it out and the first two being capitalised is throwing me. I feel like such an idiot that I got 5 clues and I can't figure it out. sorry team pass

5. strawberry I think strawberry daiquiri is a famous cocktail, obv strawberry milkshake and its a flavor in neopolitan ice cream. sorry if im wrong about the daiquiri im not all too familiar with cocktails.
