I hadn't noticed this post when I made my similar one. This is what I found online:

Of the 15 vice presidents who went on to become president, eight succeeded to the office on the death of a president, and four of these were later elected president.

So it looks like Ford and three others were president without being elected to the office. I think they were John Tyler, Andrew Johnson, and Chester Arthur.

just wait until you account for the 13 year gap between declaration of independence and washington's inauguration

fun fact, we never viewed him as the 1st president at the time of his election, all the contemporary media called him "our new president"

we didn't really start counting until much later and you can't find any public records referring to him as our 1st president until our centennial celebration of 1876 which was a time when we had a huge amount of interest in our nation's history

forget the details but someone wrote a book or pamphlet for the centennial celebrating washington as our 1st president and then it kind of took hold from there

Doesn't that mean all the terrible stuff conservatives have been ranting about these last few years is on his watch. There were people called President earlier. but it was President of the Continental Congress, so really they were more like a Prime Minister in parliamentary systems.
Washington was the first President elected under the rules of the Constitution.

yes i understand the nuance behind it, but it's inconsistent

for basically everything other than chief executive, the instance of the "1st" dates back to the founding, not waiting 13 years until the constitution

but anyway just found it super interesting that the concept of honoring washington as the 1st didn't happen until several decades after he had died

PB's "logic" that "conspiracies have existed in the past ergo my pet conspiracy theory holds" and "governments have been known to lie ergo they are lying about my pet conspiracy theory" is truly astounding. I don't understand how a compos mentis human being can think like this.

these types of people never made it out of their hometown before. now they have hundreds of other crazy ass people within a click of them to give them affirmation.

ganstaman deleted the post. Although I mostly share thinman's aversion to conspiratorial thinking, I wouldn't characterize his deleted post as "nice."

tbh a lot of theories which have been described as conspiratorial when they were first concocted were proven 100% true later on.

I am thinking of serious stuff like the Constitutum Constantini, which was a made up document used to justify temporal power of the church for centuries, or the gigantic libor conspiracy, decades of fraud at the highest level of finance, organized conspiratorial behaviour by all the biggest banks.

It's actually proper to believe malignant nefarious behaviour is behind everything you don't understand in full when it is about what the most powerful people in the world are doing.

Belief is a very weird thing. People will cry their eyes out when they supposedly 100% believe their loved one was fortunate enough to leave his body while in a state of salvation, guaranteeing that he will live forever in perpetual bliss.

Nah. There are conspiracy people out there who have traveled extensively, speak multiple languages, and quite likely are more well rounded culturally than you-- try to not be so bigoted.

I very much doubt PB is one of them. I note that even you haven't chimed in to support his delusional ramblings.

It sounds like he's caught up in qanon stuff. Because it's a psy-op they mix little bits of truth in or things that only the initiated would catch. So it's not really delusional. I haven't paid much attention to what's going on in this thread but stuff like those flights where the planes are making geometric patterns probably are real actual flights, and maybe they did use a Lloyd Austin body double just for one day or something-- all it takes is little stuff like that.
