Edit: RULES FOR THIS THREAD
Posting guidelines for Politics and Soci...
These are our baselines. We're not reinventing the wheel here. If you aren't sure if something is acceptable to post, its better to ask first. If you think someone is posting something that violates the above guidelines, please report it or PM me rather than responding in kind.
To reiterate some of the points:
1. No personal attacks. This is a broad instruction, but, in general, we want to focus on attacking an argument rather than the poster making it. It is fine to say a post is antisemitic; it is not okay to call someone an antisemite over and over. If you believe someone is making antisemitic posts, report them or PM me. The same goes for calling people "baby killers" and "genocide lovers". You are allowed to argue that an action supports genocide or that the consequences of certain policies results in the death of children, but we are no longer going to be speaking to one another's intentions. It is not productive to the conversation and doesn't further any debate.
2. Racist posts and other bigoted statements that target a particular group or individuals of such groups with derogatory comments are not allowed. This should not need further explanation.
3. Graphic Images need to be in spoilers with a trigger warning.
4. Wishing Harm on other posters will result in an immediate timeout.
5. Genocidal statements such as "Kill 'em all" etc, are no longer permissible in the thread.
If anyone has any questions about the above, please PM me. I don't want a discussion about the rules to derail the content of this thread. If anything needs clarifying, I will do that in this thread.
Please be aware this thread is strictly moderated
the implication of that post is that if only israel would leave gaza alone and 'end the occupation' then the violence would stop
this is terribly naive however and ignores hamas' policy on israel, being the eradication of the state of israel and forced deportation and/or extermination of the jewish population
If only Israel would leave Gaza and the West Bank alone and end the occupation and allow Palestinians their own state and self-determination...
But we all know that Israel has other plans for Gaza.
iirc the country you live in sends the police to the house of people who misgender others on social media.
Is this actually a thing or is this just some right wing out of context talking point? Where is this, exactly?
I mean, if it's true then gg's and get rekt and all but im going to guess that there is more to this.

Just leave the Palestinians alone so they can form their awesome peaceful society just like Israel’s other neighbors. lol

britain, if its the one i'm thinking of its not quite as described but not far off
some woman allegedly called a transgender woman a man, this person reported it to the police
the police called the woman who allegedly said the thing and invited her to a voluntary interview to help with their investigation into the matter, she was like na, they said well alright we'll have to come and arrest you then. phone call was recorded and is on youtube somewhere. i dont believe the police ever showed up to the house
does anyone have an update on what happened to the smelly campus protestors. are they still out there? did any of them take up that offer of a transfer to the iranian university?

Okay, im going to assume its a one off with limited info.
Sending govt employees to arrest someone for a non violent of not only not saying something mean but not saying the best possible thing to someone else is some comedic authoritarian resentful ****.
scotland* passed a law to that effect recently, but then harry potter lady got involved and i dont think they are enforcing it at the moment

It's what they end up doing when they govern and there is no 1a.
In Australia they sent the police to arrest a pregnant woman who dared oppose lockdowns on social media and asked people to protest against them
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia...
Ofc the fascists doing that were the Labor government of Victoria state.
SO back to the topic, if this is legal, Hamas supporters should be all in jail in western countries without the1a.
Any form of support or understanding for antisemitic terrorism is an hate crime

Term ended, it's not like they were going to miss holidays.
Pro Hamas protests will commence again when they are back from their vacations

Actually it happens regularly in England as well
Your dream, according to you, is government that imprisons, deports or executes people who express dissenting opinions. You seem very confused in your beliefs.
Anyway, please stop derailing this thread.
No it isn't.
It's to imprison deport and execute people actually plotting eversive actions (which include all constitutionally illegitimate political actions ofc).
In my world you can talk pro Hamas in a bar as a private individual.
You try to gather votes doing that gg
Turning a dog into a rapist is no easy thing, let me tell you. But I'm going to figure this out. Will save me from buying an alarm system!
It’s unsurprising to me that there is little actual discourse ITT when anyone can post links to Twitter saying things like this and it’s see as OK because it’s a “fact”.

it was not a "Twitter thread saying things like this"
it was Dr. Munir Al-Barsh, the director of Gaza Health relaying to Al Jazeera what he was told by survivors.

If you're invited to a voluntary police interview then you can refuse but may then be arrested. That is standard and I i doubt this was more than that. Sound like no arrest was ever made but if a complaint was made then the police have to look at it to determine the facts.
It's not even a one off. The law is not just 'saying something mean'. There were some nonsense companits to police because oif a load of bull in the worst newspapers about 'saying something mean' beign a crime - I dont know if this was part of that.

At this point if you just assume everyone in Gaza that uses the honorific "Dr." is a Hamas operative, you would be correct a giant % of the time.
And again, for the 1,000,000 time, there are 2 million video recording devices in Gaza where everything is being recorded nonstop; and yet pretty much every allegation against IDF involves a 4th hand report with no video evidence. Which means it is mostly bullshit.
The wild thing is that almost every day there is some video of Hamas abusing (and often killing) their own citizens, and those invariably leak out despite the fact that Hamas will literally murder you if they catch you leaking out the videos; and yet all the alleged crimes of the IDF no video evidence at all.
The amount of cognitive dissonance it must take to actually believe all the BS pro Hamas propaganda is absolutely staggering.

Nonsense, and not in this case.
Dr. Munir Al Barsh, director general from the Gaza Health Ministry, told Al Jazeera, he and hundreds of patients, many seriously injured, were now on the road on foot, making their way south.

Hamas to recruit Gazan youths in Khan Yunis comeback
At this point Israel should probably focus on cutting off the supply of weapons, which means keeping control of the border with Egypt and inspecting "aid" trucks coming in to the best of their abilities.
Hamas can recruit all the 14 year olds they want, but if all they have is kitchen knives they aren't going to win.
Nice shooting, Israel!
An investigation by open-source analysis firm Forensic Architecture concluded that a six-year-old Palestinian girl, Hind Rajab, and several of her relatives were killed by an Israeli tank gunner opening fire on their car.
Hind and her relatives were killed on 29 January while fleeing their neighborhood in Gaza City after the Israeli military issued evacuation orders for the area. Their bodies were finally recovered 12 days later.
Forensic Architecture mapped a total of 335 bullet holes in the Kia sedan they were killed in.
Was any Hamas member in the car? Because that's actually the only thing that matters .
If terrorists are so atrocious that they put their 6y old on the fire line, that's their fault.
Of course taking a 6y old in the car with you doesn't allow you safe passage of you are a terrorist, I hope every decent person agrees with this for obvious reasons
