The 2024 WSOP will take place at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas from May 28 to July 17, 2024, with the Main Event running from July 3 to July 17. I’m at the WSOP and tons of Europeans are here. Everyone is nice enough and all but what’s with euros stopping suddenly in the middle of walkways and blocking people?
Literally every time people are walking through the halls in droves like cattle, a European person stops mid stream and obstructs everyone.
Is this a standard Europe thing or what?
Bleznick's commentary gets old fast. Didn't mind it at first but he seems to over-emphasize minor details and he has a hilarious poor hit-rate with his "______ is 100% gonna call/raise/fold here" takes.

Yes. If youre going to confidently predict play by play and try to say authoritatively what a bunch of top pros are thinking you have to be very very good at both poker and announcing. Instead of saying what theyre thinking and predicting what theyre going to do, he should be talking about what its like to play against so and so, what he is thinking, and occasionallydrop a hint about what he thinks the action will be along the lines of “ brewer doesnt like to fold hands like this” etc
The slightly toned down Blesnick commentary is much much better
small changes.
I was about to joke about his hilariously stupid "It's gonna be so hard for Daniel to lose this 940k in chips. He's a fighter!" comment when that was literally five bets, but now Negreanu has just binked two big 2-7 TD hands
Dream spot for Daniel.
I'm not sure how to contact anyone at the WSOP, so maybe someone can pass these issues on:
1) The results from position 320 onwards in online event #11 have been copied to online event #12
2) The poy rankings have always been incorrect this year and still are. The points per event are being calculated correctly but not added according to the new restrictions. The #1 ranking is currently correct, but as Siever has already cashed 10 times including 1 online cash, if he cashes in even one more event
Ty, I will make sure they become aware of it.
I think Blez was massively wrong about 2-7 triple draw being a good game for DN at the time given his shortstack of 4 big bets or whatever it was, but obviously when you run like he did for that round it doesn't matter.
After listening for an hour instead of 15 minutes, blesnicks commentary has grown on me. Its just unusual to hear an announcer reprimandingand predicting people like becker, daniel, and ivey rather than saying something like “when you get to that level who knows what someone like ivey thinks , he could read anybody, if youd like to read anybody you can join octopi poker”
this is a tad on the arrogant side but great commentary.
The only thing annoying about Blez commentary is how he kept saying "Head up" instead of "heads up"
Nice comeback for Ivey, down at 450K ish, now to 4M.
Pretty sick final table with both Dnegs and Ivey
Loving this “unofficial finale table” for the PPC. No real shorties, no huge stacks. And this will probably go so late that the official FT won’t be decided. I’ll be missing a large chunk of tomorrow so I want what I can get tonight lol
I like Bleznick as well. He really gets into every hand (unlike some other famous commentators who are usually lost in space) and has no problem calling the play. Pretty accurately too I might add. And when they fool him, he is quick to acknowledge it as well, complementing the player if his unorthodox play works. He seems to truly appreciate the skills of these top guys and even rates their level of play in each game. He has no problem putting himself at a lower level than these guys, and simply says he likes to challenge himself. All and all he makes watching this tournament more interesting. He can come back anytime imo.
Okay, I just did some half-assed internet research. If Ivey and Negreanu both make the final seven, it will mark the first time they have ever appeared at the same WSOP Las Vegas final table. There was a close call in the 2014 eight-game mix, when Ivey won and Negreanu placed ninth. But like the PPC, that final table consisted of seven players.
If you expand the search to include the WSOP Asia Pacific, then both players made the FT of the A$2,200 eight-game mixed event in 2013. Ivey won it, Negreanu took fourth. But in Las Vegas-based WSOP events, this appears to be a first. I just checked every top-nine finish Ivey ever made to see if Negreanu was ever at the same final table. Came up empty.
One event I'm not sure about: 2003 $5K razz. Only four of the 30 players cashed, with Seed, Ivey, Forrest and Juanda going 1-2-3-4, respectively. So it's possible Negreanu bubbled that, which means it's still technically a shared final table.
Toupee Jay, I basically agree. He is intense in a believable way. At worst, there is a place for that. At best, weve found a truly great new commentator.
Kind of interesting how a lot of people used to hate on the guy back during his harrington25 days and now people are finally getting around to liking him.
He was on like 1 of the super old Poker After Darks and was so incredibly awkward and cringey. Like Dwan/Ivey/Antonius were literally ignoring him and rolling their eyes.
He'd just out of the blue be like "Patrick, I think you're a favorite in the lineup, you agree?" or "Tom, do you like Seat 5 or 6 better"
"Hey Phil... Phil? Phil... do you like golf..."
Huh? [ignores him]
sounds pretty normal for a kid new to the live scene. Probably very intimidating playing with famous tv gamblers who you look up to. shouldnt hold that against him. I'm sure a lot of people would act the same/awkward.
As you can see he's matured and is a lot more comfortable in his skin now that he's been around for a long time.
oh no was he the kid that told ivey he thinks he is the most aggressive player at the table and ivey just went blank and said: who cares?
I posted in this thread recently about liking blez.. but after his first ever commentary I've flipped flopped. Couldn't stand him. He'd be much much better if he talked 80% less. I had to mute the video for over an hour. Still would be curious to see him come back and see if he is better without adderall.
Brewer with a huge lead in the $50K 9g. Becker called allin with it didn't seem like that much in PLO.
I don't see how Brewer could finish worse than 2nd with the commanding lead he has.
