2024 World Series of Poker May 28th to July 17th ***No Spoilers***
The 2024 WSOP will take place at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas from May 28 to July 17, 2024, with the Main Event running from July 3 to July 17. The Main Event – poker’s undisputed freezeout world championship – will have four starting days, beginning on Wednesday, July 3. Players may also register directly on Day 2.
I think a pretty large part of him was kind of miffed that he didn’t bust the night before. Pay-jump aside lol
I'm sure he either wanted chips with a legit chance to win or to bust and get to play the 10k plo. Instead he managed to get the extra 60k or so for finishing 5th instead of 6th and get to play the 10k where he has now made enough to cover the jump from 5th to 4th, and if he somehow wins it he'd win more than Negreanu did, pretty crazy.
I thought they had said the night before that the day 5 restart and the plo late reg closing were at the same time so I'm not even sure how he ended up getting to play the PLO unless he decided to just reg and was blinding off until he busted the ppc, but it definitely worked out for the best for him.
Some big names in the 2024 WSOP Player of the Year race.

David Benyamine is now at the 10K PLO Final Table.
It's like Benyamine has somehow turned the clock back to 2007, 2008.
is it really turning the clock back? I've heard he plays 400/800 PLO. he disappeared from TV more or less but i feel like people who know PLO know benyamine is a top tier player.

I think the majority of the poker audience see Benyamine as some guy who was good enough pre online but was passed by massively with the new generation of players. In the same group of players as Barry Greenstein and Gus Hansen (though not as degen as the latter) etc.
From your post it would seem that the above view is wrong.
Two spectacular big bet tournaments going on now, the $10K 27NL and the $25K PLO.
This Adkins guy comes off really unlikable.
Max late reg line getting long, several 100 people.
Ivey top 10 stack in the $2,500 NL. That would be a sick one to take down. $650k+ up top and you know he has all of himself in that one
if pros like ivey DN actually gave a **** about 1k or 1500k 2k buy ins they would have had a lote more FTs than they do
i really think ivey and dnegs and pros like that can cakewalk to final several tables assuming blinds arent turbo fests 20-30 mins

Not really. The fields for those are a lot bigger, so probably harder to make the final table in for those guys than $10K+s.
There are a lot of guys who are busy playing $3K/6K mixed or $50/100 PLO or some big cash games in Asia or private games and only play a few high stake events. Hellmuth for example has played many events, and lower stakes events, which is partly why he has so many bracelets. He is clearly hugely $EV in the Series overall and in recent years though. Reese won the PPC and it is one of the only tournaments he entered.
Probably jinxing it, but lets' get a Matusow and Harmon FT in the $10k 2-7
No one is better at that than Lon McEachem.
He fools me all the time when I am half paying attention to a WSOP event playing in the background and I'll hear him scream something like:
THE TURN IS THE DEUCE OF SPADES!!!
I stop what I'm doing, focus on the board, then the players cards, then back to the board, realize one player has QQ, the other has AK with no straight or flush draw making the 2 meaningless and think WTF was that over the top reaction?
There's not much to get, really.
Chidwick and Ike are considered endbosses in tournament NLHE, so Blez saying he wants to bum hunt them can be interpreted as peak confidence or pure delusion.
Not for nothing, but that's a pretty damn good impersonation of Blez.
36/1245 remain in the women's event
I don't know many women of poker but names I recognize still in are
Jamie Kerstetter
Cherish Andrews
Nadya Magnus
Marle Spragg
And speaking of women, Jen Harman is currently 10th/11 in the 2-7 NL SD
Big names as usual with 9 left in the $10K NL 27.
Random anecdote from 10+ years ago on one of my trips to the WSOP...
Playing the 10k HORSE, the lights go off and everyone starts freaking out, holding their hands over their chips and whatnot. 15 seconds later the power comes back on and Jean-Robert Bellande stands up and yells "NEW CHIPLEADER: MEN THE MASTER." Funniest goddamn thing I've ever heard.

That was is hilarious, particularly after what happened this year.
Great to see Jen Harman kicking it with the best still. Hope she does well.
I saw an interview with her maybe 10 years ago where she played the big $2K/4K mixed game and like 400/800 mixed. I assume she still plays that sort of thing. Probably only plays some tournaments, and those like $10Ks in non NLHE/PLO games.
A lot of those TV pros are grinding low-mid stakes, like Cloutier, Greenstein, Matusow, and Chan. However, some you don't see are playing high stakes cash games mostly. Only like Ivey and Negreanu play NLHE high rollers now.

Is Erik Seidel not a thing? Or doesn't count for some reason?
He used to play high rollers, crushed the first super high rollers. This Series, I have only seen him in mixed games or NL 2-7.
You see a lot more old school players in mixed game or PLO high rollers than playing NLHE with the GTO kids.
Seeing Barry Greenstein playing the $400 Colossus yesterday was weird. lol
He was supposed to be grinding 20/40 limit holdem like 5 years ago. I don't understand how someone could go from doing OK at the Big Game at Bellagio to not being able to beat mixed games, PLO, tournaments or something at a level higher than that.
