luckbox, you're always talking about psyops

can you explain them

ie who is behind them and why?

what purpose does it serve to get people like pb all riled up in qanon stuff?

The thing about people who are truly and malignantly crazy: their real genius is for making people around them think they are crazy. In military science this is called psy-ops, for your info.

Every psyop is different obviously but for qanon the motivations I don't think are too hard to ascertain. It's obviously divisive-- not too much middle ground between those who think the ruling elite are Satanic baby blood drinkers and those who don't think that. It also helps smear conspiratorial thinking at-large. Plus we should never forget pecuniary considerations and the the role it plays in providing distractions. Qanon gave the media lots to work with and every column inch devoted to it instead of say people being genocided somewhere is a win.

But the biggest reason for qanon is going to be distracting Trump supporters themselves. Trump was elected with the promise to drain the swamp. So if he hasn't or isn't doing that then there needs to be a story behind it otherwise he would lose those people who believed he was an outsider and against the ruling elite, hence qanon.

Steve Bannon is probably one of the people behind it.

And because qanon is coming from high places and with the help of intelligence agencies-- and crucially not some kid in his mom's basement-- they're able to do things like mix in some truth and provide little nuggets and easter eggs for the initiated and it's only for those reasons that it became so big.

But just compare Trump vs Obama-- "Hope and Change" vs "Drain the Swamp". After Obama was elected the best he could do was sheepishly shrug his shoulders and say "sorry fooled ya". Qanon with its secret executions and underground deep state war is very much an improvement there.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice... can't get fooled again.

Oh, the simpler times when the president didn't say dumb incoherent **** every single day, so it was actually somewhat memorable when he did.

have there truly been no new conspiracies in the past week?

They've made their way out of containment. Something about oil and satanic cults. Not sure if they need it for lubrication or what's going on there - check the Trump thread.

a true satanist would refuse lubrication and embrace the friction

Obama got through a major health insurance bill which democrats had been trying to do since 1992.

Trump did nothing to "drain the Swamp".

The new conspiracy is in the ATF section, take a nice look.

Is it your position that the ACA benefited people over corporations?

I know it helped me and lots of other people. I now have good health insurance, when I had nothing before.

I'm sure corporations made tons of money before and after. That's not ideal, but at least anyone can get coverage now and the companies can't get out of paying because of preexisting conditions.

Is it your position that no people were helped?

Link?

It's the top thread in ATF.

It's primarily a corporate welfare project. Our insurance costs over 2x what it's worth so he simply made it illegal to not be scammed by his donors.

However, as a trade off, some new people got insurance. The number of people deliberately killed for insurance companies went down a bit and we went from having the worst HC system to having the worst HC system by a smaller margin.

So it really was just some table scraps, that we paid for, but that's all it took for Obama to crush.

Dems then decided that was too generous and they'd rather lose than throw out a few scraps.

Don't know what you mean by your last sentence.

They are no longer willing to make improvements like Obamacare. For example, while in power, Dems killed family leave.

All they run on now is "at least we aren't Trump."

For example, while in power, Dems killed family leave.

As usual, this sort of pithy proclamation leaves out all the details and makes it sound as if Democrats stood up in unison and said "**** family leave!", which of course is not what happened.

Oh good. Another psy op enthusiast.

Probably better to be an enthusiast than a victim.

Well that's a good thing in my book.
I would be fine with a law requiring vacation time off, but paid parental or family leave given only to parents is ridiculously discriminatory.

Yeah. There are always just enough Dems to kill family leave, just enough to vote for military pork projects, just enough to kill vacations and just enough to support the drug war...

If you get set over setted in a home game every time you play for years and years it isn't bad luck.

Sorry to rehash, but only 8 countries on earth lack family leave. 70% of Republican voters favor it and 80% of the GP. It's as close to an objectively good policy as exists.

Dems have had majorities, super majorities, and controled all 3 branches. You really think they've earnestly been trying to pass something with 80% support for 40 years straight and just can't?

There are certainly some individuals who would like to see it. I'm talking about how the party functions as a whole. And that is to keep the table scraps to a bare minimum, while creating the illusion of representation.

This is a huge goalpost shift. I was questioning your statement that "while in power, Dems killed family leave."
