I'm stuck in a relationship where I'm forced to watch every preseason/season warriors game and I honestly don't know. My brain wants to put both guys in the same category: if these guys are playing significant minutes for your team you are not a serious contender.

Who could even trade for Luka? When was the last time an undisputed top 2 player in the league was traded?

Okc has the assets but will Dallas really trade them to their immediate rival.

Klay does everything a little better than Hardaway on the offensive end, but they are too similar for comfort if you are Mavs fan.

On one side how the **** can you trade Luka.
On the other side, how the **** would you get anywhere close to value.. especially if he's going to test free agency after a trade anyway.

I think when he's a free agent that he's going to team up with either Jokic in Denver or Wemby in San Antonio. He doesn't seem like the type to give a **** about wearing purple and gold.

He's got two years basically so if he asks out next year then he's got 1 year left and that's a huge risk to trade for.

Could become one of these behind the scenes tampering moments where there's a deal in place between Luka and his next team. "Just play it out and we'll sign you without giving up assets."

Exactly. Luka is smart, he plays CHESS, he isn't some boorish American who grew up playing glorified 1-on-1 hoops in AAU.

One other thing about Podcast P, he probably knows the Clipps thing is close to over. Maybe he wanted a trade kicker with them or a no trade clause and that was the dealbreaker rather than the 4th year. I'm sure it will come out eventually.

In a few years maybe Mavs books will be pretty clean to where they can get someone to go there with Luka. Who knows, but Lively is on a cheap deal for another 3 years, Kyrie you can probably re-sign on a decent value deal. Klay you can move easy in a few years, 17m is nothing. They were just in the finals 2 weeks ago, this isn't exactly AD/CP3 on the Pelicans.

These elite guys the max is gonna get so high, maybe some of them won't have an issue taking a little less for the team to maintain flexibility. We're talking like 68m instead of 77m in 3-4 years.

I ****ing hate Oubre. He's reasonably athletic but he plays like an absolute moron on the offensive end. His shot selection is atrocious and he takes way too many 3s for a guy who can't shoot them.

Another thought..is there a team who would gamble to do a Luka 1 year rental trade.

Shaq 2004 is definitely up there...He was still top 2-3 guy with KG/Duncan at time of his deal. D Wade/LeBron/Nash began to ascend the next season.

How is Glen Rice not in the basketball hall of fame. Led Michigan to their only ncaa championship (1989). Still holds the record for most points in a single tournament 35 years later. Nobody could stop nor contain him. The most dominant tournament run ever.

Then he plays a 1,000 games in the NBA, averages 18.3 points/gm on eFG% of 50.8%. 3pt contest champion plus all star mvp. Was a key contributor on Lakers 99-00 championship run (15.9 pts/gm). Dude was a pure winner even in video game form. This is a ****ing scandal. Not as bad as Mark Aguirre not being in the HOF but damn close.

You actually make a fairly compelling argument here. For comparison, James Worthy is in the HOF with fewer games played, fewer PPG, and fewer career win shares.
