Venetian poker room changeup
Per a poker news article that just dropped, it sounds like a 50 table room with modern electronic equipped tables will be opening this summer on level 2. Will also have a dedicated room for streaming and vlogging.
Glad to see a casino expanding and upgrading their poker room in Vegas, especially after the Venetian has kept shrinking theirs every few years.
Article here:
It was $1/$3.
Those $1/$3 games often played like very deepstacked $2/$5 games populated with blind, drunk, hyperactive monkeys. At it's peak, PH had to have the most profitable games on a BB/hour basis on the strip by far.
I would bet a lot of money that no strip casino had even half as many 100+ BB pots per hour as PH did at it's peak. Money was thrown around. Heck, I would bet that PH had more 300 BB pots per hour than any other strip casino had 100 BB pots per hour
Then throw in the girls danc
Maybe it switched to 1/3 at one point because it used to be 1/2. And the 1/2 games were good, but I didn’t find them any better than 1/2 games at places like MGM and Mandalay Bay. Mandalay Bay might have been even softer because regs hated it so much.
I was checking it out again yesterday and saw the elevator in the 2nd floor mall, it is like 30 seconds from the poker room, and pretty sure it goes right down to the parking garage.
I will check it out in another week or so when I qualify for free parking and start parking at Palazzo.
Thank you for the updates. I’m coming out the final week of June and will swing by for a look, too.
LOL.
It's pretty bad if someone needs to watch a video to see how to get to the poker room.
Good luck Venetians regs, winter is coming.
I'm waiting for El Diesel to release THREE videos on how to get to the new V room.
That video makes it look longer than it is. 4 minutes max from the V sign up desk to the new room.
Maybe they will hire people to hold signs that say new poker room this way like the sphere did and had them in Palazzo a few weeks ago. lol
As much as I enjoy the room and always make good money there… this will kill it…
that's weird... I always seem to 'make good money' at Venetian... and I SIMPLY HATE IT'S GUTS.
Room will obviously be packed if they run great promos. If Wynn introduces a triple zero at their roulette tables and Venetian offers wheels without a zero, all the roulette grinders will move there.
The questions is what Venetian is going to do longterm to keep that room busy. If they're willing to spend enough on promos, players will keep coming even if the poker room moves to the parking deck.
Exactly, they aren't spending a dime. lol
Also, they have screwed everyone for June and July with no high hands every half hour like normal and only having the quads and straight flushes with the card of the month.
So now they have plenty for the August promo and going forward.
My assumption is that initially they'll have to spend more than the $2 promo drop to get the new room going.
That money is obviously coming out of what they've saved in their promotion fund but at least that means they can't use it for other stuff that's in their fine print.
I don’t care for the promos but the 1-3 NL players have spoken and shown that is what they want.
Right before the Covid shutdowns the rake was increased to $6+$3 and the room was still packed. I am very surprised the rake hasn’t gone back to that amount.
I don’t know what will happen to the 2-4 and 3-5 NL games. Venetian doesn’t seem to have any interest in running anything higher than 1-3.

The rake was 9 freakin bucks? I haven't been in there in several years.
It was back in 2020 and then casinos were shut down. Room was packed when they were running the high hand promo.
If you can use promo money to increase the payouts (which they promote as “giveaways” lol), players care FAR more about the promo payouts than they do about the jackpot drop.
Ah too bad, I'm in Vegas late July but leaving July 31st.
Waiting until after *after* the world series to open the room is a bewildering move.
When your main attraction is going to be spending more on promos than you make so you can not keep the promos coming you do not want to waste a single penny on those that only come for WSOP. Much better you get more locals to change their habits and come to you. Especially in a room that wants to run lower limit games primarily.
That is brutal. I cannot belive the Venetian thought it was a good idea to release a video showing it was a long walk to their poker room.
