The 2024 WSOP will take place at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas from May 28 to July 17, 2024, with the Main Event running from July 3 to July 17. The Main Event – poker’s undisputed freezeout world championship – will have four starting days, beginning on Wednesday, July 3. Players may also register directly on Day 2.
Starting chips were 10k until 2006; 20k to 2008, 30k to 2015, 50k to 2018, and 60k since 2019.
Correct, I've actually played the Main Event with every one of those starting stacks. 10K was when it was a 1:1 ratio for all tournaments. So for a $1,500 event you got 1,500 in chips lol. I swear it was like starting off as a shortstack, particularly if you lost your first played pot.

The $1500 in 2006 with 1500 chips started at 25/25 blinds, how stupid is that to start with 60 bb's, at least it was 1 hour levels. I somehow cashed in that. lol
I am pretty sure the Main started with 25/50 blinds and 10k chips that year, I won a freeroll to get in that.
Did Hellmuth bust the main? I never saw anything indicating he did, but he was playing the 8 game mix and ran a stack up (and then down and busted that) so either he did, he was multitabling, or he's bracelet hungry enough that he just jumped in the 8 game during dinner break or something to try to run a stack up.

You would think that he is smart because he is so succesful business wise and he has spent a lot of time around the best players in the world so probably learnt a lot.

I mean it sounds kinda stupid and weird but when you think about it the real pay jumps are when people have way less than that.

Racing off the 100 chips when the big blind is going to 1500 seems a bit early no?
Actually no. It makes the game more efficient and we get more hands per hour, pros love it.
No one needs to open raise 3300, it does not make any EV difference and its the same for everyone.
You can raise 2bb for 3000 or 2.3bb for 3500 or 2.7bb for 4000. We dont anything inbetween to slow the game.
