Rec-Bumhunter trying to go pro
Greetings to everyone and thank you in advance for your time.
I used to play poker as a rec,mostly tourneys in private clubs whenever I had time .3 years (!) later I fell in love with the game and cash games specifically. I used to work many hours per day so my volume was pretty low.I was making some money playing 100-200nl avg on private clubs and apps.I thought that there is some potential and joined a regulated site to play.I got crushed really fast.The reason was not that I was so bad as a player(still fish though),but I couldnt control my tilt. I stopped playing and I started reading about the game .I memorised wizzards preflop strategies with small custom simplifications in frequencies,learned some general MDA lines and studied some theory grids in various spots. It has been almost 1 year since I decided to take the game seriously. I reduced my working time to be able to play more poker and keep a balanced (!) life. If I am able to make constant winnings by the end of the summer I will probably go full time.
So I chose GG poker to be the place where I will give my shot.I went straight to 50-100nl rnc and got SWALLOWED by the nitfest and better regs. I used to play in pools full of aggro fish and aggro regs,so my calling button was always hot,a really but habit for this pool. I reviewed my hands and understood that I have to adjust a lot my preflop ranges and general playstyle to a even more aggresive style -overfold friendly.
I dropped stakes and started over from nl 25 rnc. My plan is to play up to 50k hands in each limit and move up if I win.
My study routine for now will be mainly ip srp btn bb.Then hj vs bb .
After 21k hands I was able to beat25NL.I know that the sample is really small but I was feeling really comfortable there and decided to move up to NL50 rnc.

Thank you for the reply! it sounds weird, probably I was trolling around(I do it a lot with gifs and stuff when I am bored) or I was tilted af. Duno,in any case , the truth is, the one calling the other fish is the one and only fish(for obvious reasons). gl on the tables sir
Any advices on how to adjust your srp late position strategies when opening from early position? I guess I will study UTG vs BB and make comparisons with BU vs BB.

I have improved a lot though.My BR is enough to move up to 100NL.But since zoom type games have bigger variance I will chill on NL50 rnc for another 100k hands.
I am confident that my results will improve in the upcoming hands(or I will donate everything back to the pool).

Thank you for the nice words ,but the truth is that the sample is small for this type of game.Also I am not still a solid player since my game shifts easily from A+ to C.There is a lot of punt into those hands which took place during the downswing . My first priority is to handle my psychology and be able to maintain my game in good shape while experiencing bad variance .
I was quite off the last month-s.I was enjoying summer and some chill soft reg tables on wpt. Today I dived on 100nl rnc.Same sh*t with the 50 nl rnc. People are still betting mergy af, underbluffing when 4b ,underbluffing on every single node. I have injected even more overfold to my strategies ,preflop and postflop.

hey best of luck bro! I would recommend studying 3 bet pots before SRP though, people make bigger mistakes in them and you can honestly freestyle flop/turn in SRP at these stakes without much ev loss, but if you start making mistakes OOP in 3bp opponents will naturally take advantage by realizing more equity for example. I would probably study SB vs BTN and SB vs UTG, see the differences and heuristics, then look at some IP play, look at polar ranges vs merged ranges from the big blind 3b, then study 4b ranges

It feels like studying is the drug that brings you back on foot after bad sessions

lots of people telling you not to play rnc and you should listen. So many people are stuck at 100 or 200nl because they only play zoom grinding out their tiny winrates. Yes the regs are worse but the edges you get vs regs are tiny compared to the ones you get vs. fish. getting succesful in poker is not about being hyper strategic trying to only play 100bb, play gto, not do crazy exploit lines. eventually you will need to diversify your skill sets and playing zoom won't get you past 200nl

I didnt say that rnc > reg tables, and I dont play only rnc ,I do play reg tables ,not on GG though,mostly apps

This is not a bad strategy actually, you can make good money on the app games and maybe brush up on strategy playing rnc. I still think playing reg tables on GG will make you a lot more money and you still battle against tougher regs, but I thought you were only playing rnc

yeah that's the actual plan atm. apps for cash + rnc for strategy-mental test . I dont include apps results-hands in this blog since I don't think that there is any interest or skill reflection in those earnings. While I enjoy earning more money in apps ,I have more fun playing vs regs
I was off for vacations and my volume is low + I am not so focused when I play . Too many BIs lost in trashy bluffs, No solid game in many spots
I think I will get into the tryhard mode after 16th of Aug .I think results will improve a lot

I dont think that I am results oriented about this hand, I think it is a punt, I should snapfold vs the reraise .He is tagged as nit,super funny that he didnt just pill the raise. Such a mandatory fold.

Even though I think I can hit a decent winrate for this mode,maybe around 3bb/100 ,I dont think anymore that rnc allows you to evolve a lot as a player (besides the mental side since you experience a lot of variance)so I am considering to stop playing there. 90% of the pool wont put you in tough spots.There are some aggrotards who will massively overbluff with hands that are completely out of range and some nits who underbluff in every node . The most mandatory skill that someone needs to master to be able to keep a decent wr is to REMAIN disciplined through the whole session and overfold in many spots
