2024 World Series of Poker May 28th to July 17th ***No Spoilers***
The 2024 WSOP will take place at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas from May 28 to July 17, 2024, with the Main Event running from July 3 to July 17. The Main Event – poker’s undisputed freezeout world championship – will have four starting days, beginning on Wednesday, July 3. Players may also register directly on Day 2.
Did the Main reach the bubble faster than anticipated? Because if not, it seems cruel to make 7 players out of >1500 come back for a 4th day to win nothing.
Why not just schedule the tournament to play until the bubble bursts on Day 3? It's not like they played that late last night.
I think they thought it was further away than it was. The clock still said 1540, 23 away when the bagging process ended. If they had known it was only 7 I bet they would have played through.
Not looking good for the ladies this main event. Quick rundown of the chip counts it looks like the largest stack held by a woman is 91st? Loni Hui
I was thinking the opposite. The best female player currently actually playing poker is kirsten foxen, she has a healthy stack. Maria Ho is a very good player as well. I also see a healthy amount of women who are “randoms” for this stage of the tournament.
edit: by best player currently playing what I mean is that I think Vanessa Selbst is the best female poker player of all time but she is mostly doing STONKS now. Foxen is best heavily active player.
This guy seems like he could be cast as a poker movie villian. I would like to see him finish second in a grueling heads up match against someone like Maria Ho or Jesse Lonis.
Final table:
Phil Ivey
Dnegs
Adrian Mateos
Arden Cho
Shiina Okamoto
Random OMC who satellited in
Some eastern european supervillain
Colby Covington
Tom Dwan
I think this would be most stacked possible lineup.
I wouldn’t want the final table to be all big names. One of the fun things of the main event every year is how it makes new stars and names that we will remember for years to come.
6 former winners still in. Would be great for one of them to make the FT. Otherwise how about the Night Crawler Isaac Kempton take it down?? Lol
Yeah this could be a case to be made. I think the other side of the argument is that even with just a few players left, the bubble in the main could take HOURS. But 7 seems like a low enough number in my opinion.
Think about it, if you had 7BB after a full day of the main, would you rather bag and rest/think through your game plan or play through the bubble in a situation like this?
You make it out like people know they're gonna bust. They don't.
If I bubbled at the end of the night I wouldn't be thrilled but it would be 10 times worse bagging some dirt stack then coming back to bubble.

He was at my table in a small Wynn event a couple years ago and made a play that got my attention when he min-bet the river against my Ax in a spot where a min-bet was probably the max I would call. I called and lost. I remember he was wearing an obscure soccer jacket with player initials VZ on the chest, so I assume he has some background as a college/semi-pro/pro soccer player. Subsequently he has put up some impressive results. Made the final table at last year's big PokerNews event at Nugget.
His vibe IRL is less "poker movie villain" and more "long lost Culkin brother" though.

Makes sense. Obviously I haven’t played against him. I think it is an unfortunate poker news profile pic then
Surprised they aren't hand for hand.

Does anyone actually care to watch Kevin Pollack? Aren't most of the eyes watching poker too young to know who this guy is?

F pokergo. This Kevin pollak table is ****ing brutal.
Pollack should have shoved JJ there. You know the money doesn't mean that much to him. Just doesn't want to bubble in front of the whole world.
Legitimate question, do people outside of poker know who Kevin Pollck is?
Like I know him from poker… and because he’s been treated like a celebrity on ESPN WSOP.
And I guess I saw Usual Suspects? But I can’t imagine anyone cares about this guy? Just put Dwan, Nacho, Barstool Nate etc on

I believe the “Grumpy Old Men” franchise is considered a cult classic among OMCs.
